Teddymonster
I was watching this weekend's episode of Family Guy and by the end of the show I thought to myself, "That was the most retarded episode in the show's history." Has the show lost its touch or was that particular episode just a fluke? I'd like to think the latter, but joke-wise, it was just so...un-Family Guy. ParkTrips
Though I actually liked this week's episode (I'd give it a B-) I have been thoroughly disappointed with about half of the episodes since their "comeback". However, there have also been some FANTASTIC episodes (Petarded, PTV) mixed in, but overall nowhere near as good as seasons 2-3 were.
Louise
I do not watch and never have watched Family Guy, but this is kinda what worries me about the rumours of Futurama returning.... IMO, there were only two or three no-quite-up-to-scratch episodes in the four original seasons, and even they were by no means *bad*. If they bring it back, even with a lot of the same writing team, I worry they won't be able to keep the same standard, it's tough to do.
Swimace
I didn't particularly care for this weeks episode, I think they made Stewie go from an evil genious (which is funny) to someone that you hated by the way he kept beating up Brian. I didn't think that was funny, it just took away from Stewie's character. Aside from that I think that the rest of the jokes were kinda stale, I think the funniest part of the whole episode was when Brian pushed Stewie in front of the bus at the end. robbalvey
I'm glad I'm not alone on this one. I watched the episode (Elissa didn't get to watch it) and she asked the next morning how it was, and I was like "Um...it was weird. They kept being REALLY mean to Brian, and I don't think I laughed once." She watched it on Tivo and we both agreed that episode was "weird" and not very funny at all. --Robb "Going to assume it was a fluke" Alvey
Slacking
I did not like this past weeks episode. The Stewie/Brian interactions actually left me feeling quite uncomfortable (I did enjoy the end gag though) and the Music Man Shipoopi musical number went on waaaay too long (I know, that was the point) as if they were using it to waste time. Even with the original episodes though, Family Guy has always been a hit or miss affair for me. The newer episodes continue this, some are great, while other do nothing for me. About Futrama though, with the difference in format (4 DVD movies vs. regular series return) I don't think we'll encounter the problem that some people have had since FG returned. Guest
I didn't think it was bad enough to start an entire new thread about, but it certainly wasn't a classic. Still, I can remember some moments I thought were funny: -Stewie's parachute -Peter in the internet cafe -Mexican guy wiping the Peter's sweat -Peter's Subaru/Hyundai ad Seemed like typical goofy Family Guy to me! Homer
I agree with ParkTrips... the episode was decent and ALOT better than the one before it that aired a few weeks ago (the one where Brian becomes a singer). The show still has its moments, but the stories are a bit stale. I hate for this show to pull off a "Simpsons" (though we know FG rips off some of Simpsons' earlier episodes) where they pull in some big name celebrity (like last week's Tom Brady) to boost ratings. I also hate how they drag gags on too long (like Stewie's high-pitched voice thing at Brian). Some gems came out of the past season though, PTV was by far one of my favorites. North By North Quahog was great and so was Petarded. But we still had crappy ones like "Model Misbehavior" (although I did like Brian working for Stewie ) and "The Bachelorette". I'm still waiting for another Stewie and Brian adventure... even though I assume "Stewie Griffin's Untold Story" would probably be the last. EDIT: Sometimes, I think American Dad is more entertaining than some Family Guy episodes these days :? .
Swimace
Yeah, American Dad keeps getting funnier and funnier IMO, I love the alien on that show, he's so funny. I personally think South Park owns all cartoon shows, the newer the episodes get the better they get.
DejaVu4Life
It seemed fine to me, same old antics as before.
shesaidboom
I'm hoping it was a fluke. I agree with those who said it wasn't on par with other episodes. While I laughed for a while at the Stewie and Brian bit, it got old kind of fast. What was up with that shaboobi song? It wasn't funny at all. WillMontu
I'm also enjoying the newer American Dad episodes, especially the recent Saudi Arabia episodes. As for "not quite as good" episides, I believe The Simpsons went through a similar phase once or twice.
Swimace
As for "not quite as good" episides, I believe The Simpsons went through a similar phase once or twice. As someone said earlier in this thread, I kinda feel like Family Guy is hit or miss. I got the season 1&2 DVD's for Christmas and I have watched some episodes multiple times without even watching some of the lesser episodes once. Yeah, its called Seasons 10-17 (Honestly though, Season 17 isn't as bad as others, but nowhere near the greatness that is Seasons 4-7)
DerekRx
I was also underwhelmed by this weeks episode. I did laugh at the car ad slogan, but the rest of the episode, especially the bookie Stewie thing was pretty weird, in a not-so-funny way. American Dad is a show I never really cared for, though the Saudi Arabia episodes were pretty good. Usually I don't watch it though, as only those 2 episodes I considered to actually be funny. I'll usually only watch it if the forums are broken or if I'm too lazy to find the remote and/or get off the sofa.

Jew
I actually enjoyed the whole bookie gag. As far as the episode goes? Ehh..wasn't the best, but it happens. You have to feed the dog (FOX) a bone (episode centered around a football superstar the week before the Super Bowl) every now and then if you want to keep the checks coming. OzCatter
I did however like the not having Stewies money part, but most of the show now is just filler, and most regular people who just became FG fans are eating it up. I think bringing Futurama back will probably make competition, and hopefully MacFarlene will listen
TheGreatOne
I think it was a fluke. Family Guy is fairly smart and witty for a low-brow comedy. It's biggest thing is having so many laugh-out-loud moments. One episode didn't really deliver that(outside of Stewie's parachute and Stewie hitting the bus), but I can even think of great comedies that have thrown out stinkers. Rugged One
I felt like it was a decent episode this week, with a few laughs. It wasn't quite as funny as previous episodes this season but it didn't piss me off or anything after I watched it. The one thing I will say about the show since it returned is that it seems like they have been relying way too much on old pop culture gags for laughs. Those are fine once in a while but not all the time.
bobafett
This episode was ok, not the best one I've seen, but don't all shows go thru some sort of stale period once in a while? Ijust wish The Simpsons would either go out with a bang or just fade away quietly. I love the Simpsons, but I really believe that their time has come and gone. The past couple of seasons have been mediocre at best. There is one show that I'm disappointed that Fox is taking off the air and that show happens to be Arrested Development. That is a show worth saving, but Fox would rather keep on idiot shows such as Trading Spouses or Skating with the Stars. I mean really, who watches these programs? Talk about crap.Don't get me started. Anyone else out there who watches AD and believes it should be saved? Drop me a line.
coasterguy618
What are you guys talking about the Death of Family Guy? It was ONE bad episode. Pretty much all of the other episodes except for a couple. The rest were hilarious. That episode wasn't even that bad.
