robbalvey Posted July 18, 2006 Author Posted July 18, 2006 I have to say I'm skeptical. I am a HUGE fan of Clerks, Mallrats, and Chasing Amy. Wasn't really that into Dogma, J&SBSB. Didn't hate them, but never felt the need to watch them more than once. And obviously couldn't even make it through Jersey Girl. So that's three hits in a row and three dogmas in a row. IMO, this one will either make him a star again or seal the coffin. --Robb "Although I really liked the Flying Car thing!" Alvey
obeygiant Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 IMO, this one will either make him a star again or seal the coffin. That's exactly what I think...Clerks 2 is either going to be amazing because it is clerks..or it's going to be horrible and I'm going to walk out of the theater saying "Why did I waste $20 on this?" I hope it's going to be good..I think it's going to be good, but you never know.
Florida420 Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 $20.00!! Wherever you're going to see movies, they are ripping you off. 8) Oh it will be good. I have faith in good 'ol K. Smith. Besides, how could a movie that has a main character talk about ass to mouth and his mother in the same gag, not be good?? Not to mention the donkey show. The TPR peeps should rush out to see it, just for that! P All " Only one more day , well 3 days for me... "
downunder Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 I am a huge fan of Clerks, will definitely see Clerks 2 but I won't go in with any expectations. I loved Mallrats, and Jay and Silent Bob; Chasing Amy and Dogma were pretty good. Jersey Girl, that was on a plane I was on and I still didn't watch it.
Robgraves Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 just got back from seeing the movie..... wow. imo it IS Smith's magnum opus. I laughed, i cried, i felt something.... and it solidified Randal as my favorite charachter... and had an amazing message. i wont say much more except.... "i'm sorry jesus" and PORCH MONKEY 4 LIFE!
obeygiant Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 $20.00!! Wherever you're going to see movies, they are ripping you off. Me + my dad + my bro = $20....I am seeing it tomorrow and more and more I get the feeling that it's going to be amazing...Eventhough I am nervous about what scenes are going to be awkward watching them w/ my dad and bro.
Florida420 Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Me + my dad + my bro = $20.... Oh I see I am seeing it tomorrow and more and more I get the feeling that it's going to be amazing...Eventhough I am nervous about what scenes are going to be awkward watching them w/ my dad and bro. All of them I just read this, check it out: GMA's Siegel storms out of 'Clerks II' screening Sitting in the front row of a packed midtown Manhattan screening room Monday night, Good Morning America film critic Joel Siegel dramatically stood up only 30 minutes into the film and stormed out, to the amazement of those in attendance. And he didn't go quietly. "Time to go!" he yelled as he stood up and proceeding to walk out, passing dozens of critics and writers on his way to the door. And his tirade continued all the way out, as he yelled over the film's dialogue that this was the first time "in thirty (expletive) years" he had walked out on a film. I know that it is gonna be so F'n good now!! Well.... Have fun, I have to wait 'till Sunday, so don't spoil it for me. P All "Snoogins!!"
obeygiant Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 OMG!! Wow, the movie must be amazing to make him do that..I'm surprised that it I didn't hear something about it on entertainment shows or at least the Soup... I can't wait!
tinflowers Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 The flick was gangbusters. Amazingly funny, offensive, and sweet.
Florida420 Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Seen it today. It wasn't my favorite KS movie, but it was pretty good. I loved the gratuitous use of King Diamond. Plus Randals impression of the LOTR trilogy was the best. I think I'd need to see it again in case I missed any thing. 8) P All "You never go Ass to Mouth!!"
Imhotep Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Saw it tonight, man... I agree, gangbusters. Loved every minute of it... Even the credits were funny!
Loser_nerd Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Its been at least a year since i had seen a kevin smith movie so i decied to go rent clerks to freshen up on it befor i saw clerks 2. Its a hard decision to make but clerks 2 was funnier that the origional. It was to the point that i couldnt breath for laughing so much, especialy durring the donkey show. Elias was great, he realy made the movie. If you havent seen it yet, all i can say is GO SEE IT!!! It's worth the money, in fact, im going to go see it again tomorrow. Through the movie at least ten to fifteen people walked out, leaving about five people.
ECZenith Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 I am so behind on movies but I'll make it a priority to see this one. There hasn't been a bad Keven Smith movie yet.
Florida420 Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Robb, I just thought I'd mention, if you haven't seen it yet. They talk briefly about the Transformers movie, not the game though. Elias is a big Transformers fan & it leads to some good jokes. Between that and the donkey show ( the part of the movie that Joel Siegel walked out on ) I think you have to see it!!
Masked_Maverick Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 I remember the Donkey scene it was hilarious but soooo wrong. Made me think of TPR though.
tinflowers Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 haha...yeah. Transformers and Go-Bots. 'God created man...man created Transformers...So, its like, God brought us the Transformers!' Eh...something like that. Elias was great as the strait-laced, but emotionally messed up/twisted character. *spoiler* I think that 'good morning america show movie dude' actually walked out during the scene with Randall JUST talking about the donkey show when he ordered it for Dante. Thats crazy! If only he would have stayed. It was a really sweet movie. Even came to the point that it bout made me tear up a bit.
Erik Johnson Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 Hooray for Donkeys...heh. I thought it was pretty good, I liked it better than Dogma and Jay & Silent Bob.
Masked_Maverick Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 One of my fav. KS movies although I hated Chasing Amy. and on that note: DONKEYS
obeygiant Posted July 25, 2006 Posted July 25, 2006 I absolutly loved it...Every part was hilarious, even towards the end...I liked the reference they did right before the credits too. This is definately one of Kevin Smiths finest, along with Clerks 1 and Jay and Silent Bob.
robbalvey Posted July 31, 2006 Author Posted July 31, 2006 So we just saw Clerks II and I have to say it was really fucking good! Probably the best Smith film since Mallrats, IMO. It's too bad it didn't do very well. GO SEE IT!!! --Robb
Erik Johnson Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Well the movie did double its "production" budget in the first week. It only cost $5 million to make. Kevin Smith says that all his movies usually do between 20-30 million tops in the theaters, but they tend to do better on DVD.
rollermonkey Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 I hope this is playing at the base theater while I am in port. I really want to see this on a big screen. I've only seen Dogma and Chasing Amy in theaters but I own 'em all. Yeah, even the dreck that is Jersey Girl. OBTW: Fletch Won is back in greenlight status with the Scrubs creators / directors in control of the KS script. Who knows how that will pan out? (No casting decisions yet.)
Erik Johnson Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 ^^ They better get Jason Lee, he wrote the script with him in mind.
Meteornotes Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 We saw it yesterday, and Mary and I were laughing the whole time. I still think Clerks is the funniest movie ever, but this was damn close. dt
robbalvey Posted August 3, 2006 Author Posted August 3, 2006 Wow, so the movie was already booted out of the top ten in the 2nd week of release. That's too bad, as it was actually MUCH BETTER, at least IMO, than Jay and Silent Bob Strikes Back which did better at the box office. Oh well..... --Robb
