benzo41190 Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 When I got up this morning I had noticed that it was snowing. I thought, maybe if the the roads were bad that we wouldnt have school. I looked at the TV and there was no school closings So I went to shovel out my car and there was about 7 inches of snow. I warmed up the car and went inside for a second to get my bag and finish eating. I finally got on the roads and they were terible! It took 3 times longer to get to school then it normaly takes. I got inside school and there were a bunch of freshman jumping up and down chasing each other saying that there was no more school. So i went to the office to check and it was true, school was cancelled. I was like WTF, f***ing school board person in charge of school closing is from Utah were it snows alot more then here so she is used to it ever since she came to this school we have rarely had a snow day The I had to drive all the way home in the bad snow and I was really pissed off So now I am at home nice and warm by our fireplace and eating corndogs
dandaman Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 We might be getting a snow day tomorrow from the same system. 4-6" expected
Robbie Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 We're expected to get hit by that system too but our school board dude lived in Maine for 15 years lol
Meteornotes Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 I still think 41190.com needs a blog... dt
tngdiablo Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Lucky you. In New York City, we used to get a foot of snow and still go to school while more snow was piling up. I once had to walk to school with at least a half foot of snow on the ground and was being pelted by ice that was being blown by the strong gusts of wind. /rant
KevinT Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Lucky bastard! My school was like the only ones in our county who didn't get a snow day today
benzo41190 Posted December 14, 2005 Author Posted December 14, 2005 what county do you live in? I live in Washington County. Usually we are the only school that doesnt have off when the schools down the street do.
Nrthwnd Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 So now I am at home nice and warm by our fireplace and eating corndogs  Mmmm. No school and corn dogs. Nice luck, guy.
benzo41190 Posted December 15, 2005 Author Posted December 15, 2005 ^Read his profile! it doesnt say the county.....just the city
Token Yankee Guy Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 That storm system is supposed to come up to New England, but luckly it is predicted to get up here on Friday and I'll be home already. Driving down to Connecticut tomorrow morning
spaminacan11 Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 You guys suck...down here in Alabama, we NEVER get snow. Well I live in Huntsville, and everywhere around us gets snow, but never any here. Our last snow day was back in 2003 from like 1/2 inch of snow...wahoo...
zburns999 Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 Its looking good for North Easter PA this Friday. Wintry mix is the best thing the weather channel can predict, and thats what it says right now. If we are off, it will be the second friday-snowday in a row!
YoshiFan Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 My school never closes for snow. Every school district in the area and all the other local colleges can close but my school hasn't yet in the 3 years I have been there. One of the teachers explained it's because they have the mentality that teachers should be able to get there and if they can get there, so can the students (nevermind the fact 90%+ of the school commutes and most people live 20+ minutes away).
benzo41190 Posted December 15, 2005 Author Posted December 15, 2005 We usually had "snow makeup" days where if we had a snow day, that is the day we would make it up. If we didnt have a snow day, then we would have of on that specific day. This year we have no snow makup days so the school board doesnt want to add an extra day to the end of the year. I would rather have another day off at the end of the year, which we do nothing anyway, then have to go to school in a snow storm. One of these days, I am going to call in and say the roads are too bad for me to get to school so f*** you!
the_rock401 Posted December 15, 2005 Posted December 15, 2005 We got 8 inches of snow here in Minneapolis. Lots of schools shut down outside the metro, but nothing in town.
