PhishyBrewer Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 Let's see... well it all started while I was eating a couple of cheese of the sticks and a few orders of fries
verticalzero Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 I love the way a coaster looks esp massive woodies, "Mean Streak", "Thunderhead". I also like getting "launched" into the Lapbar with "Airtime" over the camelbumps. Get as much space as possible between your self and the lapbar, then it's airtime heaven.
shesaidboom Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 I was terrified of coasters until I was 8 and my mom's friend who was visiting from Germany dragged me onto Vortex at PCW. I didn't go on any trips for the purpose of visiting amusement parks until 2004, when my then best friend now boyfriend showed me pictures of Cedar Point and said he'd wanted to go there for seven or so years. He was a coaster enthusiast, I just thought it'd be fun to go, so a few minutes later we were planning a trip to Cedar Point and Geauga Lake. We had an amazing time, and my interest in coasters and riding a wider variety of them grew, so we decided to go back to CP this year and also went on a two week road trip trip to Florida, stopping at several parks along the way. We have a couple trips already planned for next summer. I can't wait.
meh Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 it all started when i was six i went to pga and rode the grizzly wirh my dad it was awesome but i did not get the chance to ride another coaster until mw opened and i rode roar that is what started me this year has been a big year for me knotts disneyland whoa! its been fun
SonOfBeastSucks Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 I have always liked coasters, but my interest, knowledge didn't really kick in until I was about 11. It was a pretty slow process... I looked at the HW website before I went and discovered Amusement Today. From there I read all the articles and Top 10 lists they had and stuff and visited A TON of *official* park sites. I then started going to fan sites and learned a lot. Now, I am a true, extreme enthusiast.
CoasterFanatic Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 I turned left at Greenland. Seriously, I have answered this before in a similar thread, but it had something to do with Kennywood, Cedar Point, and a move to 45 minutes away from the center of the Theme Park Universe.
socalMAN123 Posted November 8, 2005 Posted November 8, 2005 I became an entusiast by riding Montezuma's Revenge at KBF. I was instantly inspired to enjoy roller coasters the rest of my life. ---Brent 8)
Kforces Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 I started to like roller coasters when I was about 7 or 8 but I didn't become some what obsessed with them until One of my good friends took me to Castles and coasters ( Which is a really crappy park) this year. Then I went to SFMM on Saturday the 5th and I was with my friends and I met Robb and Elissa. SO now I'm addicted. That's my story.
tinkerbell Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 Well to make a long story short, my friend forced me on Medusa at SFMW and I liked it. Which is weird, because I thought I would hate it, and now I'm here on a roller coaster site.
Devious Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 how did i become an enthusiast? 10 years old, first trip to GL, dragging my aunt on ALL of the coasters i could ride, i can remember salivating over mind eraser (yes thats right, before i knew better) riding the corkscrew (OMG, why did they take that thing out?) Then i got to go to hersheypark, you can guess from there And nolimits\RCT probably played a huge role
benzo41190 Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 once apon a time, i went to SFGAm. Then I went on Viper at the age of 4 and I was hooked..... THE END! that is really all that happened
jahmad1022 Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 My story begins in the town of Gurnee in the summer of 99 at Six Flags Great America. I was forced to ride my first looping coaster. I was really freaked out. But I got on. It was shockwave and I couldn't get enough. And at that age i thought loops were worse than skydiving! So I thought, hey, if I can do Shockwave. I CAN DO BULL. And thats where it started... now I go to Great America twice a year!
MF310ryb Posted November 9, 2005 Posted November 9, 2005 I became an enthusiast in the summer of 1988 when my Uncle took me on Rolling Thunder at SFGADV. It was my first roller coaster. I was scared to death at the time made a huge scene. I think the fellow guests thought he was a bad person. When the train returned to the station I was all smiles. I have been hooked ever since. He is definitely a great Uncle if he didn't take me on that one ride I don't know what I would be doing.
CoasterExpert13 Posted November 11, 2005 Posted November 11, 2005 I ridden many coaster before, but Back in 1997, when I was 11 years old..I got my first coaster ride on the Steel Phantom...at my home park, Kennywood...Instantly...I was a coasterfanatic..before they were just ok to ride. before this, my grandma would always take me to Kennywood and say "don't even look at that because you are not riding it" refering to the Steel Phantom. She said I couldn't handle it.....So one day in 97'...I just went for it...The Phantom was great, a bit rough, but great...after that, I've loved coasters since (about 9 years) i'm almost 20 yrs. old. I've become a non-stop coaster nut...and it became so much of an obsession, that every report i've ever had in school was on roller coasters. Welding class, I welded a replica of the Phantom's Revenge (with the help of friends) for our final grade project.
