codeGR Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 I rode their swing yesterday and I was less than thrilled. Perhaps it's because I've been spoiled with trips to CP and Carowinds in the last month. Now when you say height is important, do you mean you want a 300ft one?
thrillrider Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 You have to remember that this park is not cedarpoint. The swing ride IS considered a thrill ride for this park.
Spartan Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 The park had ordered the 200 ft Windseeker to replace the falling star the following year after all the other parks received theirs. However with all the problems the the Windseekers experienced the park delayed/cancelled their order. The park definitely has a much better waterpark than Valley Fair's having been to both in the last month and anyone that tries to say that Shivering TImbers is behind Renegade in anything is kidding themselves. But back to the discussion I would say the park is certainly in line for the next coaster among the second tier parks like Valley Fair,WOF, CGA, and Dorney. Now whether thats 2016 is anyone's guess but from what I've heard this is the current pecking order.

Everything about this park is just speculation.

grsupercity Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 As a Valleyfair fan and Someone that lives in MN, I have ridden our Hyper, Wild Thing so many times that it is crazy. I would say, an inverted or suspended coaster is more impressive, and it looks like VF is going to get an awesome B&M Invert within the next two years. The problem is that Michigans Adventure looks like a poor mans Valleyfair in 2007, before Renegade. VF has become such a better park since it has taken out stuff like Mini Golf, The Flume, and done some serious revamping. Michigans Adventure needs the following things: -Planet/Camp Snoopy -Drop Tower -More Dining -Halloween Haunt -New Roller Coaster -More Not to take this thread too off topic but I'm kind of curious what proof you have that Valley Fair is going to receive an invert in the next two years considering all signs point to water park expansion? And to get back to Michigan's Adventure I'd argue in a lot of ways it's better than Valley Fair, especially in the wooden roller coaster and water park areas, but to get to your point about what the park needs I would say the parks management from when I've talked to them had been pretty content with the size of their current children's area especially since they already struggle to have enough ride operators as is. A drop tower has been brought up by cedar fair but the parks current gm and her husband the head of maintenance both do not like them, so I'd say that's not going to happen in the near future either. More dining, a new water slide complex, a roller coaster, or even the 200 foot wind seeker the park previously ordered but cancelled are all posibilities for next year. However don't expect a Halloween event or even fireworks until the township decides to ease up its heavy restrictions on the park, and also the park has concerns about whether they would be able to even fully staff the park for a Halloween event since most college kids would be back in school during that time period. VF just received a Water Park expansion in 2015, featuring slides MA doesn't have. Valleyfairs premier wooden is a new 2008 GCI, which is much different than Shivering Timbers, a more standard wooden, but it is still good. MA is clearly the worst and most neglected CF park, but it still has some charm in its own way. Personally, as a VF enthusiast, if the park would have gotten an invert in 2010, and the park did not receive little things like Planet Snoopy, Dino's, Route 76, and 2 Soak City Expansions, the park would have been much worse. If Michigans Adventure was revamped to make it have what all of the other CF Parks have, that would be a better expansion than one hyper coaster that's too nice for the park its in. You realize MIA was going to get a hyper back in 2001 right? Do you not remember the shell of a park that built Wild Thing way back in 1996? Some could say that coaster was to nice for that park at that time. Everyone is getting mad because MIA is rumored to get something. You people need to realize they have been very light in recent additions, and deserve something. Anything haha I am not a huge fan of the windseekers. But at 200 feet, it would be the tallest ride in the park and would look impressive
XShortestStrawX Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 I don't like windseekers either, but honestly I think one would do wonders for attendance. The park has little to no "eye candy" in the ride department outside of coaster views over the lake. You'd be able to see a windseeker towering over everything even before entering the parking lot.
VF15 Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 A Windseeker might be a good fit for the park, but I think Cedar Fair is probably done with them because no one wants to invest in a ride that's closed half of the time.
TunaSled Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Honestly a Windseeker would be wasted there since there is literally nothing to see from above except the beautiful ST. All the best views can be had from the ground, a quick spin on the ferris wheel can tell you that. Until they build something out in the back nine that is. The train could have a third station emptying into a whole new section of park, where the B&M hyper station will be located seriously there is a ton of room out there. I do like how the foliage has grown in out there though. The train ride is getting cool. Where are my animated skeleton townsfolk, Cedar Fair?
codeGR Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Is there supposed to be a second train, or is that new building just to house the one train?
XShortestStrawX Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Is there supposed to be a second train, or is that new building just to house the one train? I believe there is a second train. But I don't think it is used very often.
Lareson Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 There is suppose to be a second train for Timbertown by now, but last I knew, it was sitting out in the employee parking lot missing the engine. Considering we've been waiting to see this second train for the past 4 seasons, at this point you'd think they'd get a new one that didn't have such terrible build quality as that's all I've heard of that train. Heck, I'd just go out and buy a second Chance CP Huntington since obviously the quality of that one isn't up to the park's standards. In other news, the new training facility is looking nice when I saw it the other day. Much bigger than I was expecting. Didn't get a chance to snap any pictures of it, but it did have shingles on the roof and the vapor barrier on the outside. Did surprise me that it's a traditional wood structure instead of brick-and-mortar like every other building on the property. Actually, a Windseeker at 200ft would provide some spectacular views of the surrounding area, especially of Lake Michigan since the park is only 8 miles away from the lakeshore. Ripcord does have some pretty great views at 183ft, although it's a bit tough to view since you're laying down and only up there for a few seconds before you have to pull the ripcord. Gondola Wheel is only about 90ft tall, so the views from it are not as impressive as if they were viewed from 200ft.

codeGR Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 That's unfortunate. I actually like Windseeker. And I'm sure the views are actually nice up there.
XShortestStrawX Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 So if they happen to add a hyper gt-x next year, or something else, do any of you think there would be a significant increase in ticket price? Seems like ticket prices are constantly going up regardless. I don't think I ever remember a time where a park lowered their general admission price for the year. Cedar Fair parks seem to be a lot more fairly priced than Six Flags, but the consistent increase year after year for all parks kind of concerns me.
maverick_cp Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I hope to god MiA gets something. Thunderhawk is SOO 2007 (heh). The park deserves it. I dont have very high hopes though, there has been zero teasing or anything at all that could hint a new coaster or any ride at all. Ugh.

If you rode it multiple times when it was at Geagua Lake/SFWoA, it's SOO even earlier than that...
grsupercity Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Yes. There ticket prices have really increased without any real major additions to the park. This year I saw an increased ticket price to 35, parking was up to 12, and a regular burger meal at Wildcat grill was 14 dollars. I don't see any teasers as a red flag of no additions. They never tease new attractions.
codeGR Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I think the rising ticket prices are used to push guests to buy a season pass.

Just saying.
codeGR Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 But where is the kids area? The kids rides are scattered all over.
XShortestStrawX Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 But where is the kids area? The kids rides are scattered all over. By Zach's Zoomer I believe
codeGR Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 On a separate note, has anyone noticed if Meijer still sells tickets? Haven't seen any around GR. Used to be on the display with CP tickets.
thrillrider Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 It's been a couple of weeks since I was in meijers, but I do remember seeing them.
theredskull84 Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I would think so. They advertise and sell tickets to CP at the one by my house, and I live in the suburbs of Chicago.
