Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (SFDK) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

I did not realize Sunday was going to be a big meet-up. I was just planning on meeting RAWKIN_coaster38 and Angry_Gumball there. Sounds like it will be a fun day with everyone there! I'm not one for responsibility so I will not be collecting contact info. RAWKIN_coaster38 knows how to get a hold of me, plus I'll be a little late cause I'm going to see The Hobbit in the morning beforehand.

Or if you want to put a nice scare into you, hop on the balloon tea cups back in Tava's Jungle Land (those are insanely easy to spin due to lighter weight tubs and lack of any braking mechanism.

And this is why I hated operating Nairobi's Lookout Balloons. But sadly for you, that section of the park is closed during Holiday in the Park.

^Bummer... Oh well, there will be plenty of epicness to still be had (And we'll still have Monkey Business!)

I know as far as contacts go, I am able to get a hold of Sunfire, RawkinCoaste38, and JeffyJosephNorcal. I believe Robman was also planning on coming as well, which I have his contact as well.

The more I look at the weather, the more I'm convinced that this is going to materialize. I'm really looking forward to visiting the park, meeting some new faces, and getting my Superman, Road Runner, and Star Flyer credits

^Let us know. Sounds like this will be quite the TPR Meet-up.

You got a kid for Road Runner? They are pretty strict about that ride and not letting adults on alone.

When I went August 2011, we (TPR group) were informed that they lifted the height limit on Road Runner, not needing to hijack a kid to get the credit.

!!!

Someone please confirm or deny this is still the case! I will be at the park on Saturday and I'm in the mood for an extra credit. I've pretty much given up on borrowing kids for now (way too awkward, even with help from TPR folks).

News to me, though my friends at the park don't really keep me up to date on stuff like that. I would be kinds of surprised if this is for real. The park already has a pretty high ridership as it is, letting anyone ride seems like a recipe for a longer line and bigger headache. Having ridden that thing many times, it's pretty violent to adults, you aren't missing much (except the credit of course).

^Sounds awesome!

About Road Runner, I did some digging on their site, finally found it in their FAQs as far as the ride height limit guidelines:

http://www.sixflags.com/discoveryKingdom/assets/pdf/ADA_SANF.pdf

According to that, you must be at least 42 or be accompanied by an adult.

Then that is different indeed. It used to be 36 to ride with and adult, 42 alone, over 54 with a child. Kinda sad I remember that...

When me, RawkinCoaster & Rolercstrlvr went this past summer on Roadrunner Express we all had our own car, and to my surprise we didn't get kicked out and we all rode without any strange looks from the GP!

Looking forward to Sunday, rain or shine! Will be my 50th ride on Superman (hopefully), though I'll have to bring a big jacket with zipper pockets to carry my crap, as I usually leave my bag in the car as I don't wanna deal with their Fluffy Bunnies.

Wow, we're having a bona-fide TPR meet-up going here! Just need some ERT and we'll be set. But the park might be pretty dead, so it'll pretty much be like ERT.

Also, I volunteer as the organizer for this. If you want to meet up with us on Sunday and I don't have your contact info, please message me.

I second this, we got onto Roadrunner no problem. In fact, we somehow crammed both Rolercstrluvr and I into ONE seat on Roadrunner. It was a very painful experience, though. That little coaster was not designed for adults! I do not recommend if you have back or neck problems.

I second this, Cal1br3tto! If you can wait to go on Sunday, it'd be great to finally meet another of the rare female TPR members! Or if you want to go a day earlier, I've been thinking of going on Friday as well.

Also... does anyone need a parking pass??? I have a FREE parking pass that needs to be used up this year, but I have season pass parking. I won a contest and and part of my prize was this SFDK parking pass. If you are going on Sunday and DON'T have season pass parking, please let me know and we can meet up before we park and I'll give it to you. It's $18, FREE!! So first-come, first-serve message me!

This is indeed shaping up to be quite the meet-up! I would also like to offer coupons to any takers. I have a season pass coupon book. There are 4 coupons for $20 off admission, and one for $19.99 admission. You must be accompanied by a season pass holder, and one discount admission per pass holder per day. However, I'm guessing that there are other season pass holders in the group, so people could just pair up with pass holders when buying tickets in order to use multiple coupons. Just PM me if you are interested. Oh, and I'm going to agree with Double0Kevin and RAWKIN_coaster38, delay a day Cal1br3tto. The more the merrier!

Looking forward to a day of TPR mischief!

I think you have that backwards. But seriously, thanks for the invite, all.

If anyone wants to meet up at the park on Saturday, feel free to let me know!

OH! I also want to get lunch at John's Incredible Pizza in Roseville on Sunday.

So, just a thought, any of you think we should make a 'confirmed' list of who's coming Sunday, that way we all have an idea of who we are still waiting for and such? I know for sure my cousin (who really needs to reset her password here since she forgot it) Rawkin, and myself are confirmed.

Weather update, still looking good, seeing the percentages drop, one source says it will just be overcast.

Looking forward to meeting new faces and seeing familiar faces this Sunday!

I second what Kevin said, but if it doesn't work, it doesn't work. There's a slight chance i'll be there on Saturday, but very slight. Have fun and post a good TR!

No need for a list, but glad you're excited. The only confirmation we need is a phone number PMed to me or a bright yellow T-shirt that says, "I'M A TPR MEMBER, HANG OUT WITH ME COASTER NERDS!!!"

Although it will probably be easy to spot us at the park... a large group of random people wearing assorted coaster t-shirts and photographing the rides... yeah...probably not too hard to miss.

I agree with RAWKIN_coaster38, no real need to make a confirmed list. However, I think it would be a good idea to establish a meeting place. Also, I have also been looking at the weather, and it is indeed getting better. Weather.com says 30% chance of showers, noaa.gov says 40%, and Weather Underground says only overcast. I can deal with those odds!

Is this a requirement? I'm not sure I have a coaster related t-shirt or a camera... AHAHAHA.. Who am I kidding, 90% of my wardrobe is coaster stuff. Wow, I need a life.

I figure we'll decide the day of depending on what time everyone arrives. But I can say now we'll probably do Superman first, assuming we get inside the gates before opening (which is what I'm aiming for).
