Mrlittle
When will the newsletter go out and when will the rides be announced. The newsletter will be going out soon. We weren't happy with the newsletter service provider before so we made a switch. The rides will be annoounced in upcoming newsletters and social media updates. We actually have announced a few but will reannounce them. The rides for opening are geared towards families. The thrills will come later.
ytterbiumanalyst
Awesome! I didn't realize you worked in the industry. This is a really cool idea, and I think it will fill an important space that currently isn't being served by the boardwalk and pleasure pier--and importantly, a space that is different from Grand Texas as well, so that whatever happens with that development won't really encroach too much on Adventure Pointe. I'm pulling for both you and Grand Texas. Houston needs both, and can sustain both as well.

Is the owner still hoping to add an Oz themed area?

ytterbiumanalyst
Very cool. I like the look of the balloon and hang glider bicycle rides (not sure of the actual names). We've been tossing around going to Texas, so if this place is open when we decide to go, we'll definitely make a stop. Thanks for keeping us updated! Mrlittle
So in case anyone was curious what was going on Adventure Pointe. This is an article that was written today. It’s pretty crazy and I kind of feel bad for the gentleman who was building the park. They had a few rides and buildings up already for the last few years but now we know why it hasn’t open. Stalled Texas City amusement park developers seek $10 million in lawsuit; accuse contractors, others of fraud A Friendswood doctor and his wife who have been trying to develop a theme park on the Gulf Freeway near Buc-ee’s in Texas City filed a $10 million lawsuit on Sept. 23 claiming a general contractor, a construction firm and others committed fraud and took money to “enrich themselves,” instead of building the 24-acre amusement park. Dr. Harvey Slusky and his wife Lisa Slusky said the fraud has jeopardized the couple’s “dream” of what is supposed to be Adventure Pointe Theme Park. The Sluskys sued the general contractor, the business development firm, the design firm as well as individuals associated with those firms. Among the accusations in the lawsuit the couple claim that the construction firm JB Martin Construction was laid for work it did not perform and its principals “absconded with this money and is nowhere to be found.” The construction firm also failed to deliver on the work it did complete, the lawsuit alleges Construction of the theme park began in 2016, but with the exception of a few buildings and a handful of smaller amusement rides the site has been dormant for months. The lawsuit claims that some of the defendants firms dissolved early in 2018. Harvey Slusky’s father was the creator of Playland Park, the precursor of what eventually became Astroworld. In developing Adventure Pointe, Slusky said he was “hoping to carry on the amusement park legacy of his father. “Instead of building the (Sluskys) dream, the defendants engaged in a fraudulent scheme to benefit themselves at the expense of, and significant damage,” the Sluskys. In the lawsuit the Sluskys sue lawyer Cassandra Guilliams, who created legal entities for the project and help secure the property on I-45. The other defendants include Fineas & Clover design firm and its principals Terri Hurley Lera and Katie Hurley; and JB Martin Construction as well as its principal Joe Bill Martin Jr. The lawsuit 19-CV-1828 was filed in the 122nd District Court.
