Real
So...get ready for some weirdness. I know we've seen Windseeker at night via video camera, but have you seen WindSeeker via Still Image Time Lapse? What you're about to see is rather strange in the shapes it makes. I've time-lapsed almost anything that moves at Cedar Point and nothing has produced these sorts of patterns. Normally the types of patterns I get are smooth transitions from one color to another. Not this block pattern. I imagine its due to the sequencing of the lights and possibly them maybe being LED strips with no gradient changes. Its very strange but produces some of the coolest pictures. I fully expect people to rush out with their tripods and a bunch of these shots to show up if they haven't already. Now that I know what to expect, I have ideas what I want to do next time I am there. There's gotta be some better angles and shots out there. This was just my first time testing out my new Canon 100-400mm IS L lens at night and first time riding WindSeeker. Which, to make this a proper TR for this ride, is quite a good flat ride. My wife who is as brave as myself thought it looked boring but upon realizing the arms that attach to the cars swing freely based on the rotation speed, she was like huh, thats cool. About 150ft up she looks at me and says "Yea, I'm a little nervous now" hahahahaha. Its really fun. Nothing insane or uber exciting. Ill still take Skyhawk and Maxair style rides over this but if its a 15min wait, I'm riding it every single time. Great addition to the park and has one of the BEST lighting package on a ride I've seen. SCROLL DOWN - REMOVED FLICKR PICS - ALL PICS ARE BELOW If someone wants the highest resolution image, let me know, give me your email, I'll send you a copy. Full images are 3888x2592 and in RAW format so Ill need to export a copy. Edited July 7, 2011 by Real

I wanted to go 1600 on the long edge but I can only do 1280. Hopefully thats good enough! Theres a lot of detail even in the shadows here. Jerrykoala2112
Now I'm glad all the parks that got the Windseeker took the time to add all of these lights! Amazing!
Real
These were the most surprising photos Ive ever taken. A lot of photos when they turn out better than expected I will usually think "SWEET, got it!" But for these, I didnt know how it would turn out. Actually, I thought the colors would blend together like they do on most every other ride. But when I saw the block pattern, almost 8-bit Nintendo graphics, I was really blown away. I called my wife over who went with me to ride a few rides and made her check em out on the camera. Really unique what the ride does.

Real
Amazing photos Anthony! Thanks for sharing dude. Your stuff rocks and the lighting package definitely is the most impressive thing about these rides Yea, it was fun. Nothing crazy. I will say, I thought the arms on the cars were pushed out by a piston...but they swing freely. So its sorta uneasy as you rise 300ft and the wind pushes you around. That part is like "Oh...yea...this feels strange" But once you start moving its pretty sweet. Only problem is you spin rather fast but the thing is so large, the effect isnt as great. If ride and look to the people across from you, then you can see the world spinning around really fast. Other than that, its a really fun ride but I agree - the lighting package and now the subsequent photos you can achieve - simply awesome.
xmichellex
Thanks for sharing these - the colors and patterns are stunning! Kind of cool that the ride puts on a great light show for those waiting in line or passing by... Do you notice the colors/lighting while on the ride? Meaning, does the lighting enhance the ride or is it meant to be viewed from below?
STR8FXXXINEDGE
WOW!!! These are fantastic photos! Thanks for sharing these. Very impressive! I can't wait to get to the park to ride this thing and check out these lights in person.
RandallDuell
Awesome photos! Nice work. I wonder if the manufacturer was fully aware of the possibility of photos like this being taken (when they designed the lighting structure/sequence etc)? Not that it matters, but I'd be curious to know if the designers/engineers imagined photos like this being possible? They're just so unique. I'm not completely up to date on all of these star flyer VS whatever-Six-Flags'-version is called.....other than being totally confused how both chains randomly chose to buy a bunch of these the SAME year.....does Six Flags' version have any sort of simliar lighting package? I guess (from what's been said here) that they probably don't, as the other version has chains (making lighting a bit more challenging), right? Anyway, COOL STUFF!!! Real
Considering the Star Flyers use chains to connect, you wont get the same effect. But they do have that cool star shape, and if all those bars are lit up, that would be rather cool. But the LED's on these rides are a light show even while its sitting still. Getting a good shot requires timing and luck. I think I might go all of Saturday for day and night shots. My new lens can see to the top of Dragster with not much problem. CANT WAIT. Hopefully Sat night I have a huge photo TR for everyone. Really hoping the weather is clear skies too!
CoasterCreator9
Definately looking foreward to my visit with Ace of Spades and another friend this August. From what I've seen Windseeker looks amazing.

Real
Thanks guys! I think Im going to do a whole series on them. I am going to take shots from various angles around the park, look for something interesting. Who knows, maybe I can sneak onto the beach and go over by wicked twister and get the fireworks in the background (I call dibs!) But I think a really cool "Set" of this ride would be awesome. Youll be updated first as it happens. Hopefully its something unique.
RoCo
Just came over here after getting the recommendation/link from Skycoastin' Steve... My mind is fully blown away by these pictures. Truly jaw-dropping. Excellent work!
theGrayZone
Ditto factorial to what everyone else has been saying... run with it man! I'm sure many others will be doing the same or following suit. (I know I'll probably try and get my souvenir shots next time I go up there!) I can't wait to watch the light show in person. Thanks for posting. BTW... The whole lighting rig reminds me of these videos I watched some time ago for electronically controlled designs created by falling water... here's a marketing ad for "Aquascript"... and an actual installment of a "writing fountain in Kyoto". Real
I take quite a few long exposure images of rides in motion and that is the last thing I would have expected very cool EXACTLY. That's how I am. I love time lapse and I'm getting better at anticipating the results but this made me do a double take on the lcd screen when I checked it out. You get me, lool.
