Best Miniature Golf courses

Hey, why didn't I start this thread?!

 

As STR8FXXXINEDGE mentioned, it can be surprisingly difficult to find new and interesting mini golf courses ahead of time when traveling to a new area.

 

I do also want to endorse Hillbilly Golf in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

 

And though it's sort of the opposite of "old and funky," I think WDW's Winter Summerland might be the best/most interesting mini golf in Central Florida.

 

I've been to a few mini golf places in other areas of the country, but can't really think of any that stick out as especially awesome. But that might be because I just end up at whatever one I stumble across. Hopefully, this thread will help next time!

We got a couple really cool ones over by the Gulf beaches in Tampa Bay. It's part of a small chain called Smuggler's Cove. There's one in Indian Shores, Maderia Beach and there's another in Bradenton and I think Sarasota. They're pirate themed and beautiful. My BF & I played the one in Indian Shores a couple months ago and really enjoyed it. We were going to do the one in Maderia Beach last weekend, but it rained, so we decided to try another time.

This weekend we're going to Orlando and I want to try the Pirate's Cove over at the Crossroads. Looks pretty nice from what I've seen driving by it a bazillion times on I-4. I want to try The 2 different Congo River locations on I-Drive sometime as well. I live near the Congo River in Clearwater and it's pretty nice. Good theming. Its even busy with all the construction going on right in front of it out on US 19.

My favorite is actually the Fantasia Gardens pro course. I love the challenge.

I liked it the first time I played it. But I'm a bit upset that they removed all the sand from the sand traps. They're also weirdly insistent on telling you how to play on it, to the degree that employees will come up and correct you if you insist on playing the ball where it lies or going over 6 strokes (for example).

I miss Magic Carpet Golf in Lake Tahoe so bad. That place was awesome! I went there as a kid so much. I always remember them adding holes making it about 21 holes then splitting it to 2 courses. I saw this thread and I knew I had to add it to the list, But when I looked it was already there. Awesome someone thinks the same about it.

 

The Slide at the little amusement part next door was amazing to on the days they'd give you wax paper to go down with under your carpet. Oh man so many childhood memories there in So. Tahoe.

I have played a lot different courses through the years, but my favorite would have to be Old Pro Mini Golf in Ocean City MD. They have a few different locations all themed differently. My favorite is the Temple of the Dragons course. It takes you in and out of temples with smoke and fog effects, its great especially at night.

 

There is also a great course outside of Lancaster PA, just down the road from Dutch Wonderland called Lost Treasure Mini Golf. It has a pirate theme with waterfalls, caves, and pirate ships. Every so often the ships "battle" across the course with air cannons and sound effects.

One of My favorites was Blackpools old Alpine Golf, it's been closed since 2009 though however it was pretty fun as it was right under avalache and had quite good theming

If you want a unique location for a mini golf course you can't beat the Turda Salt Mine in Romania. deep underground next to an underground lake (which you can boat around. It's by no means the most amazing course when it comes to hole variety but it's a hell of a location.

Theres this course in Gainesville, Georgia and its the best natural mini golf course I have ever played.

I don't know if anyone in southern California remembers a place like this, it was in Irvine off the 405 @ Jamboree and you actually played on real grass. The holes were a little longer than normal mini golf and didn't have the novelty ramps and obstacles but you only used a putter. It was what you would see if you took a full sized golf course and shrunk it way down with fairways, rough, greens, bunkers, etc. I have no clue what it was called or when it closed down but I know it's not there anymore. It was really cool and unique.

out of all the miniature golf courses i have played at i still prefer Adventure Golf, in Colorado. The course has many interactive elements, and three excellent courses.

Castle Park in Riverside, California is always good. Plus of course there are three credits, plus some flat's, a log ride and an arcade. Also they are building a new water play area, not sure when that's gonna be done. And, they do run specials on Facebook during the week for miniature golf and arcade.

 

Scandia in Ontario, California is just average for mini golf, but there are two credits, go cart's, flats, and bumper boats, not to mention an arcade, so that might make it worth a trip.
