Hey guys

Thought this was an interesting little aside. It seems MS have built a cloned copy of G-Force from Drayton Manor. Personally I can't stand this ride and rank it as the worst X-Car design I've ridden but for a country somewhat starved of rides I'm sure it's a popular addition.

The ride has been constructed in Dream City in Duhok, Iraq and is called Dream Coaster.

^Forcing suspected insurgents to ride it would constitute a violation of the Geneva Convention.

I have to say that the Drayton ride was fine when I rode it this summer in the UK trip. I can't imagine what could have changed but they did have one or two rows roped off. Overall it was a fun ride but not something I would rush to re-ride.

If they could take the tweaks made to the Drayton ride then I'm sure this could be quite a decent ride overall.

As long as it is reinforced to withstand mortar attacks is should be fine .

Truthfully, it seems to be an odd place and time for a new roller-coaster. I am not an expert on the modern day culture in Iraq, but things seem to be a "bit" unsettled at the moment.

^^Something WAS done to this ride. In 2006 it pretty much killed us all and was the worst thing on the planet. In 2010 it wasn't amazing or anything but it didn't hurt which was a very welcome surprise!

I don't think you'll see a TPR Iraq trip anytime soon, but we are getting a bit more adventurous so I guess I shouldn't say never!

The park is in Iraqi Kurdistan, which is pretty stable, especially when compared to the rest of the country.

It's good to hear that Drayton Manor fixed G-Force, and hopefully this one runs just as well. I know that isn't saying much, but considering the rest of Iraq's coaster offerings, or lack thereof, even if it ran as G-Force did in 06, this is still a significant step up in the country's coaster offerings. There aren't many coasters over there, so I'm sure riders are happy they received this, even if it can be a torture device.

Hopefully this signals the use of more coasters opening with similar elements, whether it be another clone, a launched X-Car, or with the traditional sky loop. The elements on this ride are unique, even for a X-car, and I think it'd be great to see more rides with them open if the problems can be fixed.

Yeah, honestly the ride in 2010 wasn't anywhere NEAR as bad as it was in 2006. It is still my least favorite X-Car that I've ridden to date, but it didn't kill me like it did in 2006.

So people really consider it worse than the skyloop style ones?

I am really curious though what it was like in 2006. I guess I just find it harder to understand how a brutal steel coaster can change. Could it be changes to the rolling stock as opposed to the track? Do you have any videos from that trip up?

The big problem in 2006 was with the restraint. They continued to ratchet tighter, like a boa constrictor, until the car got to the top to the lift hill/loop. Glad to hear it has been remedied.
