Projektion
Download Festival. Spent 5 days camping in a field with amazing music from the 8th to the 12th of June. Saw around 25 bands, among some of my highlights were Rammstein, Korn, Babymetal, Amon Amarth & Avatar. Plus, it rained... ... A lot

I heard about them from a friend just today. Are they any good live? Aside for at Download where it was a it of a dud (still an 8/10 I'd say, but not the usual 10/10) since the speakers got a bit trashed by the rain, they are absolutely on point every other time I've seen them. Amazing light show and pyrotechnics. During their 2012 tour, they opened their set by lowering a massive walkway over the crowd. They aren't a band that skimp out on production value:

gisco
By far, Garth Brooks was the best concert I saw this year. Paul McCartney was a close second.

They aren't a band that skimp out on production value: I saw them open for KMFDM in the early 90's and they were embarrassingly "shocking".. . think GWAR crossed with Impotent Sea Snakes - but with all the prosthetics being genitalia. they sure have come a long way! (the music was great even back then, but the stage show was. . . um.. . . confusing. . LOL).
Blind Idiot God
Soooo after a lengthy dearth of "big" shows (last one was like two months ago), the Napalm Death/The Black Dahlia Murder coheadliner hit Boston and I was thankfully able to make it. Abnormality: Excellent like always. They ARE my friends and I've known them since they were a local opener, so I'm wicked happy to see them finally reaping the rewards of years of hard work. Power Trip: Never really cared for them and wound up missing like half their set because a veggie burrito a few steps away was calling my name. What I saw was tight even though they are a little too pedestrian for my tastes. Pig Destroyer: I've wanted to see them for quite a while now and I finally got my chance. They did not disappoint. J.R. Hayes is a monster live. The Black Dahlia Murder: Just an all-around tight and fun band. Trevor is a great frontman and their new lead guitarist is absolutely amazing. Napalm Death: God damn. Seen them once before and they were just as mindblowing this time as they were back around the beginning of last year. Barney Greenway is one of the greatest frontmen of all time. Jason Maier
Last concert I went to .. . . . Mac Sabbath (a joke band that dress up as McDonald's characters and play Black Sabbath covers) at the Filmore in Silver Spring, Maryland. Decent show . . . . then midnight dinner at IHOP

Blind Idiot God
Soooooo I somehow got the night before Thanksgiving off from work (it probably went straight to hell without me, but my boss is a big boy, he can survive without me for one night) and managed to get to see Ulcerate in Boston. God damn. That's all I can say. Phobocosm: Tight and engrossing. Nothing truly earthshattering, but they put on a great performance. It may have also been the last time that I will have ever seen them on tour, as Etienne stated that unless they get a European offer or a North American offer from a huge name, they'll probably just stick to one-offs and fests from here on out. Zhrine: DAMN. This band was something. Never seen an electric upright bass or bowed guitars used in a metal context, and beyond those, the performance was top-notch and the crowd was loving it. It's their first tour ever and things are already looking good for them. Ulcerate: I was absolutely blown away just like I was when I first saw them two years ago. One of my favorite bands of all time and also a top 5 live band at this point. Literally my only gripe was the lack of anything off of Of Fracture and Failure (Michael Hoggard told me straight-up that they will never play anything off of it again), but when the music and performances are that on-point, I can't complain too much. Bob!
Hi ! 2016 was a busy year for me, although I managed to go to some music festivals and random concerts. The very last one was Jean-Michel Jarre. I've been a huge fan of his work since my childhood, I was so happy to finally see him perform !
cparkes92
By far, Garth Brooks was the best concert I saw this year. Paul McCartney was a close second. I'm glad you enjoyed Garth! I saw him on back to back nights when he came to Grand Rapids in May. Both shows were excellent (the second one may have topped the first despite it being his fifth show of the weekend and second of that day). My sister's a big fan of Garth so when the shows were announced, she had two computers and her phone going trying to get tickets. She also got to see a third show with some of her friends from work. Back on topic, the last concert I saw was LoCash in Traverse City the Saturday before Thanksgiving (in the middle of a snowstorm). I have tentative plans to see David Allan Coe in Traverse City the end of February. Just found out that Queen + Adam Lambert are coming back to the Palace in July, so I'll probably go to that show (saw them in 2014 and it was amazing). bert425
Saw an *amazing* show last night -- Adam Ant (the "Kings of the Wild Frontier" tour. . . yes, he played the entire album, followed by an hour of "extra" songs.. including "Desperate but not Serious", "Stand and Deliver", "Viva Le Rock" , "Prince Charming" and "Goody Two Shoes" among others). some pics coming later. . but wow. absolutely fantastic. he looks great, he sounds great, and the show was sold out (as I'm hearing most other stops on this tour have been). passed on the $35 cash only T-shirts, but picked up a couple of buttons Edited February 16, 2017 by bert425
