deathbydinn Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 Today was my first middle school dance, which is what gave me the idea for this thread. Got any good/bad/interesting/funny stories from yours? At mine they had these three feet by three feet squares about a foot off the ground. Everyone tried to get on them wich caused a lot of people to fall off. We also had a dance contest and two twin guys took off their shirts and the girls went crazy of course, don't think the teachers were too happy about that. The last thing was grinding was a big issue last year and we had to get a permission slip signed saying we wouldn't do it and that our parents were aware of the problem, but it still happened, alot. Especially on those boxes where it happened to you no matter what. I did notice a lot of it was guy on guy. Anyway whats your stories?
atem122 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 I've never been to any school dances because A) They suck. B) Back in middle school, the "DJ" was just our janitor C) The music they play is always cRAP D) I'm the epitome of a cracker, and therefore can't dance.
paintballer Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 ^ Couldn't find a date 'eh? Every school dance I've been too was fun as hell, also corny as hell. But with friends nothin' can be that bad...
atem122 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 ^Okay that too But you've never seen a crappy school dance until you've been to an LAUSD school dance!
tatertot3710 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 My school also had a dance last night too. Grinding was a bad issue last year but after the last year's 8th grade class moved on, I only saw 2 people doing it last night. Kind of nasty for the ages of some people.
deathbydinn Posted October 17, 2009 Author Posted October 17, 2009 ^ Same at my school. There were still a few people doing it but it wasn't real serious because they did it for like 3 seconds and it wasn't as close together as normal grinding is.
AllenA07 Posted October 17, 2009 Posted October 17, 2009 My favorite part of school dances is that I don't have to do them anymore! I tried to to enjoy them, I really did, but it was never my thing. It was also true that more often then not I didn't have a date to the dances which didn't exactly help. However even once I managed to get myself dates to dances, they still generally made for bad nights.
deathbydinn Posted October 18, 2009 Author Posted October 18, 2009 At my dance they hired a dj, had some cool lights set up, dance contest, really dark and were selling soda. When you guys say yous were bad did you have the stuff we did?
Cyber.Fiber Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 It's funny that a lot people on here hate school dances. I however LOVE my school because we have RAVES. All the music is Euro House and Techno, none of that stupid overplayed radio sh*t. The school goes all out and gets strobe lights and a small fog machine. However, because of the cost, we only have 2 dances per year... One at Christmas and one at Graduation. I've been to one of the other school in my city's dance. They have those Much Music Video Dances. I did not like hearing "I've Got A Feeling" and "Cha-Ching" over and over again! I think I'll stick to my schools dances from now on...
chemical_echo Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I went to one in my final year of high school because I girl I liked talked me into it. I hated it. I skipped prom the year of my graduation, but went the year later when I did my victory lap.
Wes Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Isn't the main purpose of a school dance to drink bad alcohol in the parking lot and awkwardly make out with your date?
dandaman Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I've never been to any school dances because A) They suck. B) Back in middle school, the "DJ" was just our janitor C) The music they play is always cRAP D) I'm the epitome of a cracker, and therefore can't dance. Couldn't agree more, though I had been to a few of them and aside from prom, they held no interest for me. Sure, I would slow-dance with a few of the girls I knew (and I actually knew a LOT), but the other 4 hours were akin to watching penguins awkwardly attempt to mate on the dance floor, which sort of makes you want to hang out by the chips the whole time. (Unless you get Morgan Freeman to narrate that s**t, in which case your school will soon get a $10,000 grant of Dandaman Fun Bucks.)
deathbydinn Posted October 19, 2009 Author Posted October 19, 2009 ^ Maybe the length has something to do with it. Ours was only 2 hours so everyone still had energy at the end. 2 and a hlf hours would be a good length. I can see how after 4 hours they can get boring.
astroworldfan1 Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Everyone acts like slutatious whores at my school dances.
dandaman Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 ^ At our school functions, I highly doubt it was acting.
ParkTrips Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Everyone acts like slutatious whores at my school dances. One day, you'll realize that ain't half bad You guys are boring prudes. Did you expect any more from TPR?
mcjaco Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 You guys are boring prudes. I always tried to hook up with someone, which usually led to this: Isn't the main purpose of a school dance to drink bad alcohol in the parking lot and awkwardly make out with your date?
Team Thriller Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 Isn't the main purpose of a school dance to drink bad alcohol in the parking lot and awkwardly make out with your date? That what happens to me. Except I find out the next day it wasn't my date..... --James
Coaster Cow Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 ^Oy. I saw that one coming. I'm not much of a dancer, but I still have a good story. Lately, grinding has been an issue, and the chaperones were uncomfortable being there when it was happening. So, the student senate decided to ban grinding. No one listened, and now they have teachers patrol the dance floor with a baseball bat to separate dancers. No lie.
KnottsDisneyFarm Posted October 24, 2009 Posted October 24, 2009 My school's dances are so lame. I would know, I was in the "Student Activities" committee last year and the dances were so horrible and boring. I know that I will definitely not go to any dances this year.
