Spideyfreak
Hey everyone! I recently got the chance to go to my "alternate" home park, Hersheypark not once, but twice within the past two weeks. Needless to say, Herhsypark was awesome as usual with their wonderful staff and great ride lineup. The first day I went was May 20th and the park was DEAD. I was able to whore on the Wild Mouse for 45 minutes without getting off! (Those who have been on Hershey's Wild Mouse know that there are no trims on the first half!) I was also able to stay on Sooperdooperlooper for 2 hours. The most interesting part of the day was when Xtreme Cup Challenge E-stopped mid way through my ride. All in all it was a great day! Anyways, onto pics! I'll break it up into several parts, then post pics from June 1st. Kissing Tower. More to come, including Xtreme Cup E-Stop! "Rattler's Revenge"- I guess that's Herhseypark's take on the Rattler at SFFT? lol Howler I want Canyon Rapids back! Wavepool. Closed Tidal Force. Maintenance making final preparations... Ferris Wheel. The not yet open Boardwalk. Lightning Racer. Wildcat. The opening crowd...
Olsor
If you take those mallets and hit the person standing next to you in the head, ribs, and back, that would be an accurate recreation of SFFT's Rattler. There'd better be a picture of Roller Cowster coming up.
Spideyfreak
More pics... And an encounter with Mark Twain! And we leave off with the man himself... But the wait was bearable... Bad sign. Time for some arrow... Storm Runner was closed. SEAquel overview. Of course we can't leave without the signature shot. Noted! ERT? Unfortunately, last year they began to trim off speed here... Now this hill is like Mean Streak's first drop... disappointing and boring. Great Bear WOOOOSSSHHHH!!!!! So fast! Vehicle controller... Track with lights on. E-Stop catches you by surprise... The vehicle stops, show effects turn off, and lights come on all within about a half a second or less. OMG It's Mark Twain!!! The sportscasters. The trophy... Drugs! Xtreme Cup Challenge! HPCrazy
Good PTR! Was this before the SEA-qual officially opened because there were work trucks parked in there. If so, I'm surprised you didn't get this up sooner. I'll be there this Sunday with loads of SEA-qual pics to share on here when I come back! By the way, I've been on RXCC when it e-stopped during the ride (block brakes). Gives you a shot at really racking up points while sitting there. EDIT: I just took notice you said these were from May 20th, so no Boardwalk yet.
YoshiFan
2 hours of SDL? Awesome, I'd really like to try that. It is such a fun ride.
Spideyfreak
These pics are from June 1st. It was dead yet again. Lightning Racer was only running Thunder. Apparently one of the footers had and issue and they had to pour a new one. And I'll leave you with the snake-dive-horse-on fire- diving thingy. Storm Runner is looking a little pinkish... Seriously, these guys are awesome! Great singers! The Milkmen! Entertainment. I like the grassy hill in the background... Now you don't. (Tidal Force's splash is THAT big!) Now you see it... Are we at Coney Island? The new skyline. A certain member will remember how this ride kicked our asses! Flowrider thingy. New view of Wild Mouse. The finish line...not as in racing...as in "the ride is over." Closed Lightning side.
Ccron10
So is RXCC a Jeff Johnson credit? A footer cracked? It must've been interesting on how they fixed that. Hopefully it was at a low spot to make the job easier.
HPCrazy
Again, nice pics. Fortunately, along with Sunday, this one one of the few days that turned out nice this week. I'm happy this weekend's looking good for my trip up there. Is that you in the Milkmen pic by the way? How did you manage to get that shot? Wild 1
Yeah I was there on June 1st too. We were the people wearing the white and teal T-shirts. So that is why only Thunder was running, thanks for the info! Sounds like you had a good time.

jedimaster1227
^You've definitely won the "Post of the Day" in my book. Sheer excellence.
DiSab
^^Agreed. Amazing post. I can't tell if it's just the angle, but does Tidal Force's splash actually reach the Fahrenheit track?
Spideyfreak
It's not even close. I was eating lunch on the patio right next to Tidal Force when the splash completely ENGULFED my view of Fahrenheit. A splash on Fahrenheit would be awesome though... I agree to the above, greatest post. lol.
Sean Menefee
That Tidal Force splash/Fahrenheit photo is awesome. Very cool perspective choice. Can't wait to get back to Hershey in 2010, a lot has changed since my last visit a few years back. -SM

Electerik
Let me just chime in on this one, as well: That's really cool. I don't think I've ever seen a photo quite like that before. Thanks for the TR!
HPCrazy
I'm sure all the people on Fahrenheit are getting a drench as well! lol! (just had to say that even though they aren't) ! Again, I must agree with everyone else on this shot. You are like me when it comes to the eye with the camera. What kind of camera do you have by the way? Rollerman87
Great post. That Fahrenheit pic is definitely amazing One thing I have to comment though is the "E-Stop." A ride stopping at a random interval does not necessarily have to be because the E-Stop was activated. If the ride experienced a malfunction, most likely it would stop itself. E-Stops are last case scenarios that you generally don't want to hit unless absolutely necessary.
Spideyfreak
I probably should have mentioned this earlier... but It'll clear things up as to exactly what happened... We were going up the last hill and then BAM! The track power cut out, show effects froze, and lights came on all at the same time. Then a ride-op came around to tell us what happened. Apparently one of the brakes on the track didn't close on time and the ride automatically E-Stopped itself. We were only stuck for about 10 minutes. After a quick reset we got to stay on and ride again. As for the camera, it's decent. It's a PENTAX 7.1 Megapixel with a 3X zoom.
scooterdoug
Solid TR! I also was very impressed with your Fahrenheit splash photo. I was there June 1 as well (my first time ever). For a park that seems to be perpetually crowded, it was wonderfully quiet that day. I mean, I would consider a day that nets one 6 rides on Fahrenheit (3 in front, 3 in back) and 5 on Storm Runner (all in front) a success. I also thoroughly enjoyed my multiple rides on Lightning Racer. That was just plain old fun! Again, great TR. -Doug
Rollerman87
Apparently one of the brakes on the track didn't close on time and the ride automatically E-Stopped itself. Did the Ride Op actually tell you it "E-Stopped" itself? For that is physically impossible for a coaster to do. It can stop itself and whatnot, but E-Stop is something a Ride Op controls. And if it was a simple rest, there was no way the E-Stop was hit.

And a coaster certainly can auto E-stop if the ride system is set up for it to do so. Some rides E-stop themselves, some don't. Some are very simple to reset, some aren't. There's a whole big world out there.
deguy123
Can't wait to head there this coming Sunday(going that night and all Monday)....it's an annual thing now and I look forward to it every time. Btw.....Will definatley snub the wavepool as I walk by! lol
TYTL
The Tidal Force/Fahrenheit picture is sweet. I tried to get that shot in August, but the picture ended up more like a tiny bit of water in the corner. The song that picture Andy Samberg is in is sick but awesome.
