The Stacker Game

If you've been to any mall or themepark in the last year or two, you are probably familiar with The Stacker Game. That's the redemption game where for a dollar, if you can line up boxes moving from side to side you can win an outstanding prize such as a Wii, PSP, Xbox 360, GPS, DSi, etc. unless you want the sucker "minor" prize which nobody does.

Now it's simply fact

. It has internal options that allow operators to choose how often to allow a winner. Various sites I've read say that the average is about 1 in 1000. The same thing as happened in the video happens to me every time I play. I get to the top line fairly easily and am one press away from the big prize and then that damn light "skips" on me.

I was determined to beat the one at Worlds of Fun last month. It wasn't even about the PSP. I just wanted to beat that f'ing machine. I blew through $20 before I swore off Stackers completely. But then I was at a neice's Birthday Party this past weekend and what did the place have? You guessed it.

Final score: Stacker +$10. Me -$10. And lost on the last line 8/10 of those plays.

What do you guys think about The Stacker? Any success stories? I know that regardless of my skill, it's only going to give me a prize if it feels like it. I shouldn't play it. I should stick to Claw games which you can easily tell if they will be winable or not. But that damn game is like crack...

Here's a fun Stacker webgame you can play for free. Unfortunately there's no "Major Prize" to tease you.

Bah....

Games like Stacker, Lighthouse, and those prize grabbers are all rigged to force people to spend more money in those machines. They just put big prizes like video games, consoles, mp3 players, and DVDs to sucker more people into playing them.

I've never really bothered to play those games. But I've seen enough people try to win iPods and Xbox 360's only to have burned through $20 without winning anything.

I've won a couple stuffed animals in those crane games and a couple lazer pointers in the games where the light goes around and a couple basketballs in the shooting games but thats it. I think the rest are all rigged.

I beat the online stacker game on my 2nd try! Beginners luck I guess. Anyways, I tend to just stay away from most games like the stacker.

By the way, has anyone been to a Taco Bell where they have the little platforms where you put change on the first one and you try and get it to the bottom platform and get free tacos or whatever?

Funny you should post this. Today I discovered a Stacker game at my local mall. It was a a lot of fun and I got up to the Major Prize line almost every round. Put $7 into it before I noticed the "skipping" and realized it was rigged.

I'll still put a buck or two in one if I see them anywhere, but I'll have to not let myself burn through more than a few dollars.

TPR member Scottish Steve (aka cobra_roll06) used to be amazing at Stackers! On a TPR member get together in Blackpool last year he took one on...

And won an XBOX 360!

It was all down hill from there though as he FAILED to win this one a few hours later!

Lets hope we get to see him fail lots more times in Scandi next week!

These things let the prizes go when the proper amount of money has been spent to get one of the BIG prizes shown. It's simple logic, alot of people I know treat these like slot machines and ridicule them.

But if you think about it, these operate alot easier then most think they do.

I spent a couple bucks on one at Pier 39 in SF. Prizes were Nintendo Wii, iPod Touch, and Coach Purses with their receipts still in it.

I figured I could probably sit there with the money I would spend on one of those items and win it for less. But seeing this video, maybe not.
