Koolkid Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Sorry for being a bit of a donut, but how do you see how long your track is? Going to see if I can do myself a track for this competition by next thursday and if I can then will sign up and will tweak for those last 21 days
dr.gumbo Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 ^ On the editor, just go to the 'Coaster' and select 'Statistics'. It'll tell you there.
Koolkid Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 ahh, Thanks very much EDIT: Please sign me up , I've created a winner , Hopefully...
Xpress Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 As for the AHG debate, I have decided that all tools will NOT BE allowed. BIG HUGE turnoff, seeing as wooden coasters are basically circles and parabolas. Tools will do nothing other than what you command of them. It's building on NL, just using your brain, rather than your hand. And even building with tools can be tricky- more tricky than with your hand. IMO, building by hand is wayy to easy, especially when you know how to. Also, Newton, yeah, I can see why that isn't allowed. It doesn't make realistic wooden coasters at all, and even so, you'd be spending hours on a single element getting it right Whatever, no mention of track shapping aids, so I will be using those (no, not loefets- my own ). This means IM IN
Koolkid Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Really excited about finishing mine , I think it's miles better than any of my other coasters. Any feedback is appreciated to improve it Doom's End.nltrack Here's the Track
Eric_Smith Posted May 8, 2009 Author Posted May 8, 2009 Really excited about finishing mine , I think it's miles better than any of my other coasters. Any feedback is appreciated to improve it You have some track out of the red area. Other than that, just smoothing out some transitions, and its good. I cannot write using paint...lol
Eric_Smith Posted May 9, 2009 Author Posted May 9, 2009 Yeah, yeah. I was going to put it at 500ft and put it at 3ft instead. Or are you talking about the shape of the area to build in?
Xpress Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 The height of it I'm not concerned about, it's just the shapping. It makes for a, umm.. Unrealistical layout I'm not saying it's impossible to build in it, it's just very difficult to make a layout that would seem realistic.
jarmor Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 ok another question...where can I get the catwalk planks in nolimits other than the autogenerator
Eric_Smith Posted May 9, 2009 Author Posted May 9, 2009 ^I don't think you can... I may be wrong though.
Xpress Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 You can only get them from the Wood Magic. You simply uncheck a huge portion of the track from adding supports, just leaving the catwalks, then take the catwalks that were made and use those, then undo everything. Then, you add in your supports again
Thelegendarymatthew Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 I have finished my first coaster in NL Its big Its scary and Its a coaster that has only two yellow g spots (I tryed fixing them) Its TIMBERSTORM! Its located in the middle of the woods, in the middle of nowhere!!!!!!!! I think for my first coaster/contest, the outcome was good. Timberstorm.nltrack Now, heres the real one. The one without the boundary! Theres also a few more trees in here! Timberstormwboundrys.nltrack Heres the one with boundary's, as you can see it doesn't go into the red
the ghost Posted May 10, 2009 Posted May 10, 2009 ^ Awesome. That was probably one of the best first nl coasters I have ever seen. A few tips The lift was not perfectly straight at the bottom, but still a really good lift for your first attempt. The yellow G's at the bottom of your hills can generally be smoothed out, especially if you extend the distance from the bottom of the hill and the start of the next hill. Great Pacing!
Thelegendarymatthew Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Heres pictures of my entry, for non users
netdvn Posted May 11, 2009 Posted May 11, 2009 Woah! That looks like a cross between Toro and Prowler! I kinda think the colors should be more of a tradiional wooden coaster brown though... But either way, I'm very impressed.
jarmor Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I have progress shots of a woody im working on but its not for the contest lol... But humm...it could be... for a 5 car train the back seat only gets -1.3~ g's. oh yeah baby!
