djbrcace1234 Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 Herding some cattle today it seems like. I'm glad to see the Peeps have the chance to have fun in the park!
BaMiTsPaT Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 I'm glad your park came back after such a long time of declining attendance numbers!
CorkscrewFoley Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Wow, they were even handing out cups of water?? I am impressed, this park was amazing before, it's so much more wonderful now...little things like this make it worth it all.
JuanSe_Colombia Posted June 19, 2010 Posted June 19, 2010 Looks great! Awesome crowd, and I loved the last shot of Batman from the lift hill.
paradisecoaster Posted June 20, 2010 Posted June 20, 2010 Wow! this will be great to watch in the future as the park grows more and more. eventually becoming one of those huge six flags parks!
coasterdude5 Posted June 21, 2010 Author Posted June 21, 2010 (edited) Batman: The Ride Video   1994  Here are more photos from last Friday's grand opening! The park was open Saturday and Sunday but I decided to avoid the crowds since I was at the park all day on Friday.   An afternoon rain shower didn't stop the guests from enjoying their day!   Without lightning, all rides were able to remain open.   I'm sure riding Batman in the rain was interesting!   Luckily, those waiting in line stayed dry!  - Joe Edited April 14, 2015 by coasterdude5
ericm95 Posted June 21, 2010 Posted June 21, 2010 (edited) This park is amazing! But how did you get heatwave or whatever it's called to go up the rear spike? Edited June 22, 2010 by ericm95
mightbeawannabe Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 I have been reading this whole thread and must say it's a fantastic park! Definatley the best I've seen and even better than shyguy's Wonderworld! Congratuations on such a great park!
CorkscrewFoley Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 This park is amazing! Only if some Six Flags parks looked like this in real life. But how did you get heatwave or whatever it's called to go up the rear spike? Â This is stupid, but what you do, go to how many circuits, and put two, and you'll get the trip up the reverse spike.

coasterdude5 Posted June 22, 2010 Author Posted June 22, 2010 (edited) 1994 16th Season  Here are some photos from the nighttime firework show from Friday night:   It wasn't a huge display, but it was a nice way to celebrate the park's reopening.   I bet Derecho provided some great views of the show!   Vulture was closed as it was closer to the show.   Fireworks seen through Viper's loop.   I'm sure they got a great view of the show as well!   The end of the firework display marked the end of the park's first day. Thousands of guests poured out of the park and from talking to several of them, it seems many are very glad to have their beloved Charleston Gardens Amusement Park back, even under a new name.  - Joe Edited April 14, 2015 by coasterdude5

coasterdude5 Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 (edited) 1994 16th Season  I took my family to the park today. It's been a week since the park reopened, but the crowds aren't dying down!   Six Flags needs to crack down on guest conduct - this is nothing my kids need to see!   RoadRunner Express is a great coaster for the entire family!   The first drop is small, perfect for beginner coaster riders!   I hope Six Flags keeps this ride for years to come.   Viper is more intense than Road Runner, but it's still an excellent attraction.   We grabbed some lunch at the Saltwater Cafe and ate under Viper's loop.   Washout had a lengthy line throughout the day, luckily we were able to get a few rides on it.   What a view!   By late afternoon, the park was packed.  Check back soon as we revisit Derecho!  - Joe Edited April 14, 2015 by coasterdude5
imawesome1124 Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 (edited) I love the 6th and 8th picture. You continue to leave me speechless with this park CD5. I can't wait to see how Derecho is doing, looking forward to the next update. Edited June 24, 2010 by imawesome1124
Mastersax68 Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 Wow. I'm still liking the look of this park, and these large updates! Keep it coming!
coasterdude5 Posted June 24, 2010 Author Posted June 24, 2010 (edited) 1994 16th Season  Well, it's June and that means the summer season is upon us! The crowds are still heavy and the rides are running non-stop. I went to the park this afternoon and took a few rides on Derecho. I'm writing a story on the history of the ride and I figured riding it in person would be a great place to start!   The entrance has remained unchanged since Six Flags bought the park.   The coaster is the tallest of its kind in the Carolinas.   The first drop is fun, especialy in the back of the train.   The coaster is fast and forceful. Don't ride after eating a big lunch!   Derecho is the longest coaster at Six Flags South Carolina.   What a ride!  Thanks for reading - who knows when I'll pop back into the park!  - Joe Edited April 14, 2015 by coasterdude5
SaweetDude04 Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 This park just keeps getting better and better. Keep up the great work!
coasterdude5 Posted June 28, 2010 Author Posted June 28, 2010 (edited) 1994 16th Season  We're nearing August and work is already beginning for next year's addition!   We've been told the new ride will be constructed on top of Harbortown Drive's old foundation.   I did a little "investigative journalism" and peeked through the fence to get a peak at what was going on. It looks like they've dug quite a hole in the ground. Perhaps a foundation for the new ride?   I'm glad this ride is coming to the Harbortown area - it was so badly damaged after the storm. Hopefully this new attraction will breathe new life into the park.   Security was called to this dispute between two families over a line-jumping matter. Uh oh!   The new ride will be announced on Wednesday!  - Joe Edited April 14, 2015 by coasterdude5
davisal771 Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 I'm once again speechless. I'm in total anticipation of what the new ride could be!
imawesome1124 Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 How about a compact B&M stand-up, like Iron Wolf or Shockwave?
djbrcace1234 Posted June 28, 2010 Posted June 28, 2010 ^ Â Considering it is 1995 or so now, I fell if a B&M type standup would be larger, but anyways, that what B&M was doing in the mid 90's.
Chris Benvenuto Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 I believe B&M was getting up and running in the mid 90's, seeing how their first standup's were built under the guise of Intamin AG. I have a hunch, with the rest of you that this is a B&M. This reeks of fish.
paradisecoaster Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 I got a feeling that says, this isn't goin to be a B&M or something alike. I feel that this is something unusual that u wouldn't expect. but still; it is a Six Flags Park...
coasterdude5 Posted June 29, 2010 Author Posted June 29, 2010 (edited) 1994 16th Season  We're nearing the end of the park's first season as Six Flags South Carolina and things are really picking up for next year's new ride.   Hmmm....   Is a new coaster heading to Six Flags South Carolina?   I do believe that is rollercoaster track!   "Just one more ride on the bumper cars?"  See you tomorrow for the announcement!  - Joe Edited April 14, 2015 by coasterdude5
imawesome1124 Posted June 29, 2010 Posted June 29, 2010 ^WTF? I have no idea what that is. Â Edit: I didn't see the track in the 2nd to last picture. Maybe it's a Schwarzkopf family coaster.
