robbalvey Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 In your mind what do you consider to be a good woodie and built Pre-1970's / 80's..? Phoenix Coaster @ PNE Grand National BPB's Mouse Comet CI Cyclone (Although I'm personally not that big of a fan of it) Wild One Giant Dipper (both of them, but SCBB's is WAY better) KW's Jack Rabbit KW's Racer Yankee Cannonball Lake Winnie's Cannonball Hmm.....yeah...not that many old woodies that I really like too much, really! Then again, there's not even that many "newer" woodies that I like much either. It's just a shame that all those kick ass CCI's built between '95 and '01 are now pretty much crap. I mean, look, the Pavillion pretty much just "threw away" the Hurricane, and I'm sure that ride is newer than most people's cars!!! I was seriously a die-hard wood coaster fan between those years, but now I'm *MUCH* *MUCH* more of a steelie fan. --Robb
Moose Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 When we went in 2005, the park felt like it was dying. I was positive there'd be no 2006 season.Last summer, with the Bug up and running, it had a totally differant feel. I do not understand why the parcels haven't sold. chippewa property at 48k http://www.coldwellbanker.com/servlet/PropertyListing?action=detail&ComColdwellbankerDataProperty_id=10400165&page=property Conneaut Property at 25k http://www.coldwellbanker.com/servlet/PropertyListing?action=detail&ComColdwellbankerDataProperty_id=9429200&page=property I thought i'd throw those in for comparison. One park dead, the other struggling. values are higher by the one that's dead. The COnneaut doesn't include the property, while the Chippewa one does, and also has lake rights. Still both are cheap compared to up around me.
FlyingScooter Posted December 6, 2006 Author Posted December 6, 2006 ^nice catch. I didn't notice that. thanks. Seems i picked one of the few like that. opps.
Dailey Enterprizes Posted December 6, 2006 Posted December 6, 2006 I don't think ACE will let anything happen to Conneaut... hehe.
FlyingScooter Posted December 8, 2006 Author Posted December 8, 2006 ^me too. I get this thing for Hard-luck town (maybe that;s why i live in cleveland. PLEASE NOTE: I'm bombed tonight. Chalet Debonne (not Dortmendur, Phishy, sorry), so anything i say might have an, in an anti_Spock fashino, emotion to it. I muzzzzt b bmbdddd, tooook twenty minzzz to edit day! (hood beat, let's hear ya!) sorry robb, couldn't resist.
kidcoaster Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 I heard a rumor I don't know if it is true yet but I heard that the park will not open next year because they are not allowed to borrow money to open. Of course they go through this every year lets just hope It goes well.
Shavethewhales Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... not again... How did they do it this season? Can they pull the same trick twice? I know Conneaut isn't a "great" park, but it is a good ole' timey, traditional, independant park, and I really think we will truely lose a gem if it slips away. I just can't imagine the scar that has been this year going any deeper, I'm pretty sad about it all as it is.
FlyingScooter Posted December 9, 2006 Author Posted December 9, 2006 ^Twice? I think they're up to five times or so. I honestly can't remember the last season they opened without a loan. I'm just waiting to see their complete financials for last season, after they calculate to rest of the food-stock from the restaurant. The restaurant was the biggest loss of the whole season at like $2000 a day.

In fact, I'd say that's one for the record books. How in the world did they do that?
kidcoaster Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 I saw an artical in the Meadville Tribune thats show Le Roy is more concerened about the leash law than about the park.
FlyingScooter Posted December 9, 2006 Author Posted December 9, 2006 [ five quote] That's a pretty amazing loss for a restaurant in a run down amusement park. In fact, I'd say that's one for the record books. How in the world did they do that? http://www.meadvilletribune.com/siteSearch/apstorysection/local_story_304223643.html When you read to bottom, click read more: it shows the Restaurant and lounge losing over 198,818.06 for a park that was not even open 100 days. I found that to be an incredble loss. (maybe steaks and booze walked out the door in large amounts?)
verticalzero Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 Hi Ken, thanks for the update on the Park: Would you consider running 1 NAD train and 1 original train on the "Blue Streak"..? I'm glad the "Bug" is running again after it's 3 year break, how is it preforming..? It's such a lovely feeling for an old ride to be working again and seeing the riders faces smile when they come off. I never got the chance to ride Blackpool's version of their "Turtle Bug" and now they destroyed it along with the Whip. Having a horrible SLC in it's place. I am planning to visit the Park in 2008, what is the best time before the school holidays to visit..? Hope the Park can raise lots of money next season for the unique rides and attractions.
kidcoaster Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 ^ Are you talking about the two on the same time? Because if so it would not work well. You want to trains that weigh the same. So the time for loading will be equal. Also one NAD train is in peices. And the other in unuseable. The bug is running well. Just harder to operate than I thought. Hopfully it makes it to 2008. Anyway any time is a good time there are hardlly waits no mater what day you go.
verticalzero Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Hi Ken, I'm in love with NAD trains, their style, Working Headlights and retro looks. I wish they were in Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 for PC. Will the park consider to repair the trains so they are spare when the original trains are taken off for a service..? I thought Blue Streak operates with 2 trains, 1 in the station and 1 on the track. Do the original's weight more than the NAD's.? Do you have a POV video of the "Bug" working and of the "Blue Streak"..? Good luck for the 2007 season and hopefully I'll have a ride on the "Blue Streak" in 2008.
kidcoaster Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 I would like to see them repaired but when I was cheaking them out there were so many things wrong Restraints did not work Cusions are torn up Headlight bdon't work paint peeling Wheels mising dents every where What I want to do Is talk with someone from the park and maybe fix it up for my senior project. And the NAD's weigh than the original.
kidcoaster Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 I got pics from the season The Tumble Bug The train. And me on the right learning how to run it . The Train A group of happy riders on the Bluestreak.
kennywood!007 Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Its always good to see this park with a bunch of happy people. Its such a great park to go and hang out at. Cheap, fun, and not that much walking! Yet the rides are great, and the coaster is a very enjoyable ride. I still gotta get up there to visit ya
BarryH Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Here's a Conneaut Lake Park video for you, filmed in August 2004: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31685
kidcoaster Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Sadly I don't see the return of the witche's stew after the damage it recived during pumpkin fest. Outside the park gates a man has bought land on the north side of the park and is building a major resort. He also bought that trashy trailer park across the road from the park and got rid of it. So now the road will look nicer. This same guy wanted to buy it a few months back. He wanted to buy it for 20 million. And invest 50 million toward new rides and attraction(imagine what they could have got for that much). But court apointed overseer turned it down becuase he said he did not want the park to grow that big(WTF). It would have been saved.
FlyingScooter Posted December 23, 2006 Author Posted December 23, 2006 What happened to Witches Stew? Didn't they just get that ride up again this summer?
kidcoaster Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 Yes they did but the Op. that was put on it saturday just did not care to lower the break before running it. I was at the den training someone when it happened. I heard a crash and looked the ride went around once and twisted the break the second time it sent the break flying into the parking lot almost breaking the wind sheild of the head mechanic. It also move the ride almost two feet. Shortly after he got fired and had to have a meeting with the park manager and the mantmence department. When I talked with one of the mantmence the other day he said it will take $2,500 for a new break and $900 to take it apart and look for more damage. They will probly have to send it back down to Kentucky for repaires.
kidcoaster Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 In todays paper it says they finaly got a proposal and just have to get the judges approval. So hopfuly this will bring good news.
coasterdude5 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 I don't think I've ever heard anyone call Libertyland a craphole before, Libertyland used to be a nice park, its quality just declined in its final few years of operation. (due mostly to mismanagement) I hope Conneaut can survive, it looks like the park has alot of fan-support so it has a chance.
