^ Hmm....can you try uploading a version of that video without the "!" in it and see if it works?

Me thinks that funny things happen when you have odd characters in your file names....

^It worked! Good thinking Robb the ! was the problem. I'll fix my Manhattan Express video as well.

This video works now as well. I'll remember not to have ! in my videos for future reference.

^ Awesome! Yeah, I kind of remembered that sometimes odd characters in your file names can do funky things when it comes to php pages and databases. The video worked fine on the site, but when you start doing other things with it you get a meltdown!

Glad we figured this one out!

Definitely a thumbs up on the new banner...

...but do I only see one coaster in the background?

Posted

I like it.

Pretty sure the "for" shouldn't be capitalized, technically--especially in light of the fact that "and" isn't. But I'll chalk it up to artistic license.

Any thoughts on the new banner?

Thumbs up/down?

Comments please!

...Is there anyway you could get it to stretch all the way across the screen so that it aligns with everything else?....

Sorry, I meant to say before "coasterdude5" posted the banner didn't look as big as it is now. That's what I was referring to when I posted.

Posted

^ No, banner is the same size as when I originally posted it.

It's not going to be able to be stretched for a number of reasons, mainly due to the entire page being designed to look good on a lower resolution screen (1024x768) and any additional art that goes beyond that would require people to scroll. We wanted to avoid that.

Maybe for CoasterTube 2.0 we'll work on it!

Sorry, on my screen the banner is to the right over the main video area, and then there's a grey square area that is where the logo used to be. But it's not a big issued.

.m4v and .mov are supposed to work now. Can anyone give this a try and let me know your results?

--Robb

Same result as before, Robb--just an error message and a little blank box.

I tried uploading it to the forum, but all that came over was the audio (such as it is), along with this message: "Error downloading codec." Maybe it's a problem at my end.

^ Yeah, it might be. Especially since another .mov test was completed today and it seemed to work. What did you use to make this movie?

^Just my Panasonic Lumix digital camera. In the past, I'd managed to upload a short video to the site that I took with my old Fuji Finepix camera (might've been a different format).

Well, it's not like I do a lot of video, anyway.

I'm getting VERY low quality!

Is it just my computer or is everyone having this problem?

I noticed that too, but I also noticed that it loaded about 4 times faster. There’s probably a quality vs. load time ratio.

Posted

^^I don't know if it is just my tired eyes, but having watched that same video earlier today, I think the quality is less now than that of what I watched before. There are more visible pixels and a little bit less of a smooth frame rate. I downloaded the video earlier using the iPod conversion option, and I could have sworn that the video looked far better (on par with the Kawasemi video).

Then again, it may just be my eyes.
