Tammy S
I'm starting to make plans for 2009 vacation and I'm thinking of going to Canada and was planning on going to Canada's Wonderland park. I went to there web site and they have nothing yet in regards to hours of operation/dates of operation. We are planning on going in mid-june so does anyone know when they usually start there operating season and what there hours of operation are?? How busy is the park that time of year. Any info anyone can offer on this park as I've never been there before will be greatly appreciated.
kidcoaster 2
Well I cant say for sure since the park has not announced it yet but I am sure the park would have started there season by mid June and I wanna guess the hours will probably be something like 10-10. Not sure on crowds when I went Labour (Thats how they say it in canada) it was wall to wall packed. It is a fun park though you will have a blast and really enjoy Behemoth. rollin_n_coastin
Operating season usually starts in mid-May on weekends with full daily operations starting around late June, usually around the 20th. I wouldn't plan anything until they set their hours if you're planning to attend during the week. Also, the park is always busy given its city location. A good time is going when they forecast rain since it fills up a bit later during those days. Check out cwmania.com for more info on the park. Thanks for thinking of us up here! Invertsince93
Weekdays during June and September are often good times as most kids are in school. With experience from last year, it seemed alot of schools chose Wednesdays and Thursdays for their trips, so those days can be busy between opening and 5pm. Also, although many will disagree, make sure not to miss the amazing-ness of Wild Beast or Minebuster. They might look like deadly traps made of wood and duct tape, but they are really amazing coasters.
Speeddeamon128
I went with TPR on the Behemoth/Ravine Flyer II trip. My suggestion is do Behemoth first. I is an AMAZING ride with lots of AIRTIME The line was 5 hours long by midday so ride it right away. That was in August so I don't no how the crowds are the rest of the year. I do no that the park was open from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. July & August. All the other lines moved pretty quick. Nothing except Behemoth impressed me. Vortex was second best. Besides painful & crappy woodies, Vekomas, & old Arrows the park really wasn't that great but Behemoth is well worth the trip. Here is the video from that day & you can see how long Behemoth's line got!
Carnage
Also, although many will disagree, make sure not to miss the amazing-ness of Wild Beast or Minebuster. They might look like deadly traps made of wood and duct tape, but they are really amazing coasters. Everyone's open to their own opinion, although I REALLY disagree on Wild Beast. That ride has been getting worse and worse every year. It seems to get rougher year after year. Minebuster I don't find too rough anymore, although I also see nothing good about it. As far as hours go, if you end up going early June you should be able to avoid much of the crowds. But as you get into mid/late June you'll start getting closer to school's getting out, and the massive crowds.
rollin_n_coastin
^Totaly agree, it seems as if Wild Beast and Minebuster switched roles over the past few years. One becoming a bit smoother, although completely neutered, while the other (Wild Beast) much more painful.
DBru
While Behemoth is obviously the new star attraction, make sure not to miss out on the park's hidden gem... Skyrider! Skyrider is one of the 2 last TOGO stand-ups in North America, and provides an incredibly fun ride in its compact, air-filled layout. The park is also home to many rare, incredible flats, including Cliffhanger (awesome topspin-style ride), Psyclone (Moser frisbee), Shockwave (topscan), Drop Tower (Intamin 2nd Gen Freefall), and Sledge Hammer, a one-of-a-kind HUSS Jump 2. While none of the rides run an amazing program, they are all fun, and definitely make up for the lack of quality coasters!
elkingda toroka
I would agree with what people say about wild beast...it's painful. Another thing to note, even on the busiest of days the most you will have to wait for a ride is an hour or two(mostly behemoth or something like time warp). Along with that, an interesting thing is that almost every major coaster has no switchbacks or very few. Like skyrider, minebuster, backlot stunt coaster, time warp, and dragon fire all have very short queues.
mightypotato
All last season, I never had to wait longer than 1.5 hours for Behemoth. The crew there was exceptional at pumping through the people with a three train operation. In my last visit, I actually waited longer for Flight Deck (SLC) than I did Behemoth. My advice for tackling the park is for Behemoth, Backlot Stunt Coaster, Skyrider and The Fly to be your top priorities. Behemoth because its far and away the best CW has to offer, and the others because they either have crazy low capacity or have crazy long dispatch times. I've also ridden Kings Dominion's TOGO & I'm not a big fan of that one either.
Groteslurf
^ Both were rough when we rode them May last year but I remember the one at CW to be a bit less rough. It's a very weird experience though. We visited CW on a Wednesday, the 3rd week of May last year. So the park was already open then.
eBen
Im going to side with the Skyride love. It stood out to me in the park due to most of the alternatives are standard and/or a bit mediocre at times. Or memorable only for the uncomfortableness. If I could go back I would mostly just ride Behemoth all day with a side order of Sledgehammer, the crazy looking flat near by. But no matter how poor others say the rest of the park may be make sure to find out for yourself by sticking to your plan of anything and everything! Behemoth YAY Behemoth I got to talk about you again
denning
I agree it is a waste to rush to Behemoth as the line moves so quick for it. In fact it is deceptively long which makes some riders turn away, the other rides all load slow so get them done and they be prepared to wait in the fast moving and never that long line for behemoth, even on the busiest days it is never more than 100 minutes wait. RBOrrell
Traditionally, CW opens to the public the first weekend in May and only operates on weekends for the month of May. June through August (until Labour Day actually) the park is open 7 days a week. Usually opening at 9:00am with rides start at 10:00am. Close is 8:00pm in May but usually extended to 10:00pm starting in June. September and October days and hours usually mirror the May schedule with certain differences around the Halloween events. Your Mileage May Vary; Objects in mirror are closer than they appear

Cliffhanger/Riptide is a Mondial Splashover, Psyclone a Mondial Revolution, and Shockwave a Mondial Top Scan. From what I have observed in video clips, Cliffhanger/Riptide operates much better than Cliffhanger at Lagoon, the only other Mondial Splashover in Operation. Lagoon's Cliffhanger is not Operated to it's Full Potential. Shockwave is also operated much better, for the most part, than Samurai at Lagoon, the only other Park Model Top Scan in North America. However, Cycle 6 on Samurai definitely pwnes any cycle on Shockwave.
Crazy_Behemoth_Lady_Jess
I did a TR on Canada's Wonderland awhile ago back in october. Look for it under my old posts. Behemoth is awesome. Lots of good airtime Even if you get stapled its still pretty intense. Skyrider isn't that painful actually. But that's probably because its the only standup I've ever been on. And I don't remember it ever "hurting my legs" the way people say B&M's do. Since Skyrider is japanese made, and japanese like to make things "smaller" typically, you might find it abit of a tight fit (heck, even I did when I rode it 2 yrs ago). Even if you're not that into kiddie rides, check out Silver Streak anyways. It's a Vekoma family suspended(inverted), basically an inverted coaster for kids. Quite a unique experiance I'd say. Exact same layout as the Rugrats Runaway Reptar coasters, just without the Rugrats theming. Top gun/Flightdeck is a rough ol' Vekoma SLC. A fair amout of headbanging but good inversions nonetheless. 4.5 G's, so watch the momentary blackouts. I've had it happen to me and I kinda freaked out but I thought it was also pretty cool at the same time experiancing a G-LOC. well I was about 14 back then anyways. DBru
^^Oh yes, I meant Mondial, not Moser! Sorry to get off subject, but why weren't more Mondial rides installed in North America? Do they not have a great safety record?
Crazy_Behemoth_Lady_Jess
Not sure exactly how good their safety record is. But I dot know there was a case where a woman with mental illnesses was thrown from a Top Scan.
