JFrombaugh Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I just read on Gerstlauer's website that Mystery Mine, Speed, Rage, and Typhoon have an insane negative G rating of -1.3!! I knew that Speed at Oakwood pulled -1.3Gs, but Wikipedia said this was during the airtime hill (which everyone says is really powerful). But I tested out the Typhoon recreation in NL, and it hits that same number right at the start of the beyond vertical drop. The Gerstlauer website says Speed's airtime hill is only -1G. Spongebob at Nick Universe, for some reason, is listed as pulling -0.7Gs, don't know why. That's awesome, I didn't know all Euro Fighters except Spongebob pull -1.3Gs!!! It's a good burst of "yellow" airtime according to NL. You can read the various fact sheets here: http://www.gerstlauer-rides.de/english/Gerstlauer_E.html (Click English and Euro Fighter under Products if you need to) Are there any other coasters you guys know of that have high negative G readings? I know that Rita at Alton Towers pulls -0.7, and G-Force at Drayton Manor pulls -1, but parks seem to advertise positive Gs more than negative.
Hurricane Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Superman Escape at Warner Bros. Movie World pulls -1G on the Airtime Hills. But that doesn't really suprise me about the Euro Fighters either.
hyyyper Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I guess the good old Expedition GeForce has got some nice ejectors too
Troll Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Rage didnt seem like it had that much airtime on the airtime hill - not as much as Speed anyway. I'm suprised that they are the same though. It will be interesting to see where Saw comes into this when they open it.
Loefet Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I guess the good old Expedition GeForce has got some nice ejectors tooThe P'n'P's produce higher negative forces then the Megas.
holyblakbelt Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Spongebob at Nick Universe, for some reason, is listed as pulling -0.7Gs, don't know why. I think the reason why Spongebob doesn't have much negative G-forces is that because of its compact layout. It is more twisted than airtime filled. I have not been to MoA since Febuary, so I have never rode the new rides at NickU yet.
TheStig Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Just my 2 cents worth, don't base your facts on No Limits. It's a simulation, and I can guarantee that the recreation and the actual ride are not even close to being exactly the same. I'm just saying...
rollerboy Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Superman Escape at Warner Bros. Movie World pulls -1G on the Airtime Hills. If that is correct, I can't imagine what 1.3 G's of negative force would feel like. Looks like I will just have to wait til' March .
Team Thriller Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I'm actually not suprised. I rememeber riding Typhoon and not being able to stay in my seat no matter how hard I tried... --James
nannerdw Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 I think the first vertical drop on Mystery Mine pulls more -g's than the 95 degree drop. At least it felt that way.
Wood Dragon 1988 Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 I have a question. According to physics, isn't there no such thing as negative gs? I have heard nothing can have less than 0 gs, is that right?
niiicolaaah Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Ahhh, the airtime hill on Speed. It left bruises on my shoulders that lasted for 2 weeks. And I never bruise. Gosh I miss that ride.
Moose Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 It's all about the Vectors. The negative relates to the direction of the acceleration in relation to our standard of measurement, in this case, gravity.
ECZenith Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 I've been on hundreds of coasters and SFNE's SROS definately feels the most intense in the negative G department, so I believe that. (^)
