daniellazarus
I was thinking the same thing. Last month a row was closed off on one of the trains, but the next day both trains were running normally with all rows open. IR was open Labor Day and everything was fine. Yesterday there were no trains on the tracks or even in the station. Now it is closed probably until Spring Break. Perhaps the lawyers in Arlington got an injunction against that type of ride operating anywhere?
richtrav
I wouldn't get hysterical just yet, they may have decided to alter the trains a bit more and waited until after the big Labor Day weekend to do it. It could be something as simple as a minor problem with the seat belts that need adjusting or enhancing. If it were some major issue I doubt they would have reopened the ride last month. The next few weeks are going to be relatively slow so they may have decided to do the changes now. Of course this is all total speculation. ernierocker
I just called SFFT and asked them when the IR would be running again and they told me it was closed indefinitely and that it may not even be open for either Fright Fest or Holiday In The Park, even though SFFT had previously announced that IR would be open for both events. Looks like it will have to be the Texas State Fair for me next month. You did call and talk to a Six Flags phone operator. Meaning, I would take what they have to say with a grain of salt. Let's wait for an official statement from the park.
Ducky dude
^ Good Point! Those phone ops can be strange.
Linders
Before you get too upset, go check out their Facebook page. It posted on Friday, Sept. 6th, an advertisement for FF, including riding the "Epic Iron Rattler" after dark. Their Headline picture on the timeline is an advertisement for FF, with Iron Rattler in the background. Also, if you go look at their website, it isn't listed as "Temporarily closed," as has been when closed this past summer. It could have had a mechanical issue that just needed attention. SFFTfan
any possibilities of Fiesta Texas removing the 200ft height limit? Or is that set by the FAA?
daniellazarus
It would seem possible as SFFT is farther away from the San Antonio airport than SFOT is from DFW airport and the Texas Skyscreamer is 400 feet tall.
boardwalkbullet91507
Is the Iron Rattler still closed? NTAG is reopening with new lap bar pads from Gerstlauer this weekend; are they installing the same on the Iron Rattler causing the temporary closure? DougMJr
^Iron Rattler opened weeks ago with seat belts. Perhaps they will get the new lap bar installed in the near future but who knows.

BigBomer
My guess is that they are making the lap bar modifications like on Giant, since they didn't make any before.
Linders
I commented on one of their fb posts and asked them if IRAT will be open during FF and HIP, and they responding to me confirming that yes, it WILL be open for FF and the rest of the year! So, hope that clarifies things.
arby
^that's good to hear, especially since we'll be stopping by for HIP this year. I can finally get this credit.
boardwalkbullet91507
I'm guessing it will reopen this weekend with the Giant. If it does and anyone is there, please post pictures of the new restraint pads. I'm curious to see how they've changed.
SFFTfan
I got a few rides in. Nothing changed on the lap bars. The seat belts were changed to where you adjust them and are no longer the retractable ones like in motor vehicles
SFFTfan
The test seat that has the green light looks to be deceiving to some. I passed it a few times since iRat opened up the 1st time with it and have seen lots of people with little kids that wouldn't meet the height requirement have their kid sit in the seat and the light come on and the parents go "yeah your ok to ride" and then get in line
Ducky dude
^ So that means Iron Rattler is open?

I passed it a few times since iRat opened up the 1st time with it and have seen lots of people with little kids that wouldn't meet the height requirement have their kid sit in the seat and the light come on and the parents go "yeah your ok to ride" and then get in line We don't have a green light, but a buzzer that goes off up here in DFW. We (my hubby and 2 boys) went on Saturday to ride NTAG, and got in 2 amazing rides with self pulling seatbelts and new lap bars that I think are better. We went back the next day, and went to get on NTAG and something got their attention to my almost 10 year old. They told him he couldn't ride and made him get off. He's been riding that ride since he was 8! They didn't like that the lap bar didn't touch the top of his thighs all the way. We took him over to the test seat and it cleared him to ride. They aren't foolproof or consistent. Obviously there to calm people's nerves. Right now, the mood up here is over cautious. VERY over cautious. ArizonaGuy
Wow....I'm surprised they changed the seatbelts already. We the retractable seatbelts getting stuck or something??
Linders
We've decided that on our next visit to SFOT that we are making him wear jeans. That would fill in the gap between the lap bar and his legs. That is how small of a gap there was. Hopefully they will be a little more calm by then. Hoping to visit during Fright Fest. Hoping to not have the same issue with IRAT when we come down over Christmas break.

TXthrills2010
^ I'm actually really happy Fiesta Texas has stepped up their game when it comes to Fright Fest. Now let's wait and see if it's as good as it reads on their website!
Meangreen16
I don't care that much for the whole haunted house stuff. I just can't wait to see the shows. Always curious to see how they will change up the day time shows and change up to quirks and jokes. However, Monster Mash Bash is my favorite show of all time. I have extremely high expectations because "Ovation" this year was absolutely amazing. Loved the new choreography too! I'd say this is the strongest group of performers they have had in quite some time. I really hope MMB lives up to my standards.
