I'm not surprised at all about Wall-E. I'm sure it's a wonderful film, but it's also a film with a message. If you look at all the conservative jerks out there who decry this movie as liberal propaganda on IMDB, you'd understand why I'm not surprised. Also, some people just think it's boring, and they don't wanna think when they go to the movies.

But that's just the way people are. I remember hearing about how Fantasia was also considered a flop when it first came out, because it didn't deliver what audiences were expecting. But time has made it a classic. I'm not sure if Wall-E will have that kind of staying power in the years to come, but I do know where Pixar will go from here.

Wall-E will be considered a flop (Mainly because summer box office expectations are just incredibly overblown for every movie), Disney will have a fit, and then we'll see a return to the tried and true Pixar formula that everybody seems to want...we may even see...SEQUELS...*Shudders*

All right so here's the result:

I think Kung Fu Panda wins... in box office run.

We see that finally WALL-E's box office is slowing down quickly just after 4 weeks. This weekend, WALL-E won't even be able to gain more than $10 million. Perhaps $5-6 million. While at the same weekend Kung Fu Panda still able to gain $7 million-ish.

In UK, one of the biggest markets in the world, WALL-E opened to only $8.8 million. Compared to Kung Fu Panda's $12 million 2 weeks ago... that's like... 75% of it. But whether the hold will be better or not we'll never know. But this weekend, The Dark Knight, which already sets box office record in USA and Australia, opened in UK. Oh well... get ready for a huge drop, WALL-E.

But yeah, basically, WALL-E still has France, Germany, Spain and other big markets. Most importantly... JAPAN! Yep, believe it or not, WALL-E will be released in Japan in December, 6 months after it's released in USA. It will compete with Half-Blood Prince there in the same period of time.

Right now the worldwide cume for WALL-E is around $230 million while Kung Fu Panda is at $470 million.

But how about the... awards?

Yes, I think this is the side that WALL-E will win at. There has been buzz all around that WALL-E might get a nomination for Best Picture next year, along with The Dark Knight. This is - if true - of course a huge achievement for Pixar because there has been only one animated movie that is nominated for Best Picture, Beauty and the Beast (1991).

Still, it's all up to you which side do you fall for. I think it's just gonna be like last year's Ratatouille Vs. Shrek the Third.

After a less-than-expected opening in UK, WALL-E dropped just over 50% to third place. The same weekend, UK enjoyed its biggest weekend so far this year as The Dark Knight opened to a gigantic $23 million in the market. Meanwhile, Mamma Mia! proves to be a huge hit in its native land as it only dropped 37% despite the huge opening of the cape-crusader movie.

But thanks for strong weekdays and school holiday starting this week, WALL-E will have leggy run in the market. So far, WALL-E only has one disappointing market, which is Brazil. Reviews have been spectacular and while it might not top the panda movie, it will bring attention when the Oscar next year is coming.

Yesterday, the movie opened in France. The movie opened with rave reviews from both critics and audience. From what I heard from one of my friends in there, it's a sure no.1 this weekend as it's shown in more than 850 screens nationwide, a record for an animated title in the country. But trust me, the performance won't be as good as last year's Ratatouille.

Meanwhile, Kung Fu Panda finally opened in Japan, the 2nd biggest movie market after USA. Just like other Dreamworks' features, the movie disappointed with only $2 million, enough to be at only 5th place. This is far below Ratatouille's $4 million. Plus, when Kung Fu Panda opened Ponyo on the Cliff, the latest Hayao Miyazaki's work, was on its second weekend and it seemed the Japanese love the movie so much it posted a very small decline. Japan won't see WALL-E until this December so expect a huge bump to WALL-E popularity at the end of the year when it will fight with Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in the country.

August is coming and the blockbuster season once again cools down until November. But the international box office gets hot this weekend.

In domestic box office, The Dark Knight surprises as it took the champion for the third time. Narrowly surpassing The Mummy 3's second place by $1.3 million, The Dark Knight is expected to finish at around $480 million and even has a chance to cross the $500-million mark.

Meanwhile, The Mummy 3 seemed to be forgotten by its fans. After a 7-year absence, the movie only took an estimated $42.5 million, the lowest opening in the series. The reviews have been very underwhelming so far. And I must say they're right. It's so bad that I expect this movie to drop hugely next weekend, just like X-Files.

After 6 weeks in the cinema, WALL-E began to show its power. The movie dropped a mere 26% in its sixth weekend. This makes WALL-E a sure win on the domestic box office against Kung Fu Panda. The cume should also surpass Ratatouille's and perhaps finish at around $215-$225 million.

Last week's disappointment, X-Files 2, disappointed again this weekend as it dropped a monstrous 66%. The movie has been forgotten by its fans, perhaps?

While the domestic box office cooled off, the international box office is gearing up instead for the releases of the trio The Dark Knight, WALL-E and The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

The Mummy 3 took the top spot in foreign box office with $60 million from 28 markets. The cume was led with Korea's $13.3 million, $12.7 million in Russia and Spain's $6.7 million. This is due to Michelle Yeoh's and Jet Li's star power in those areas. Despite the big opening, the movie should drop big as well next weekend. Meanwhile, the movie also set records in other countries like Hong Kong (biggest opening of the year), Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, Poland and Hungary.

The Dark Knight held well in its third weekend with no major openings at all. The movie held well in UK, held its crown with $12.9 million. But the real story this weekend is that in Australia, The Dark Knight topped the $30-million mark, a very rare achievement for any movies ever released in the movie. Even last year's Harry Potter only finished at $29-million mark.

WALL-E only got $15.5 million this weekend. But the movie had 3 no.1 openings in France, Netherlands and Belgium. In France, the romantic-comedy animation took a still-impressive $7.2 million. Compared to last year's Ratatouille, WALL-E took about 60%. Plus, the movie won't have leggy run like Ratatouille did so a finish at $35-million should be fine for WALL-E.

Pixar would be ranked higher in satisfaction, and recommendation for the film viewers. So Wall-E would definitly win the debate.

But I would prefer Kung Fu Panda. At least it has a different meaning to the movie than the same typical ending for every pixar film. "A Cute thing that Learns a Valuable Lesson."

Wall-E wins in my opinion, hands down. I'm gonna say it, it touched me emotionally. It's one of those movies where you honestly love the characters, there aren't any voices in Wall-e or Eve, so you have to be able to understand what they mean through sound and movement. It's the best animated movie ever, without a doubt, I just think that other movies stole its thunder.

Also, every Newspaper review I've read has said 5 stars for WALL-E, Kung-fu panda got 2-3 stars most of the time.

I saw Wall-E I thought it was pretty cute. I didnt see Kung Fu Panda though because Im not a huge fan of Jack Black. The theater was actually still fairly full when I saw Wall-E like 3 weeks after it first opened.

Wait a second. A panda IS a cute thing, and he did learn a valuable lesson...

^they're two sequels already in the works, Toy Story 3 - 2010 and in 2012 Cars 2.

Make that 1 sequel, as the latter of the two will never be abel to premiere.

All jokes aside, Wall-E was just an amazing film. I love every second of it. I actually cried. Wall-E is pixars crowning achievement in my eyes.

In domestic box office, WALL-E finally takes the crown from Kung Fu Panda as the most popular toon of the year. Both are in the $210-million range right now, yet WALL-E is still running and counting, thus leaving Kung Fu Panda behind.

Meanwhile, in international box office, WALL-E got left far behind by Kung Fu Panda. But this is due to WALL-E not open in many major markets yet, which include Germany, Australia and Japan. From my prediction, the movie will be able to make at least $70 million alone from these 3 markets.

The international cume for Kung Fu Panda is right now at $347.5 million while WALL-E is at $121 million. Well, but we have to understand, though, WALL-E is considered as a 'silent' movie. But still with the buzz all around, holdovers will be strong for sure.

I finally got around to seeing WALL-E and it was spectacular: Technical wizardry mixed with copious imagination driven by a pretty decent story. I loved how it managed to be very unique despite its constant references to sci-fi classics. The interactions between WALL-E and EVE were just plain magic. My favorite Pixar film.

I saw Kung Fu Panda before I saw WALL-E. I just got back from WALL-E and can say it's WAY better than Kung Fu Panda.

WALL-E is tied with Rattatouie (Or however the hell you spell it) for second as best Pixar film IMO. Not better than Cars to me.

WALL-E is truly a masterpiece.

For a World wide total of:

Kung Fu Panda - $557,980,901

Wall-E - $331,806,582

In my opinion WALL-E wins for me. It has a brilliant & unique plot, Pixar are for me the best at delivering this type of Computer Animation.

I have seen Kung-Fu Panda and I will admit, their Animation is practilly on par with Pixar but the plot was a bit predictable and I can't really Jack Black or especially Angelina Jolie.

So WALL-E gets my vote and honestly one of the best movies I've seen.

In latest news from foreign box office, WALL-E took a disappointing $1.9 million, which was only enough for 5th place, in South Korea. But since Disney pictures aren't very popular in the country anyway, that's all right. Even the popular The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe only took $4 million 2.5 years ago. It was also far less than Kung Fu Panda's $7.3 million about 2 months ago.

WALL-E also opened in Spain with $4.7 million, which bookers said as 'not stellar' but just satisfying. But they're confident that the movie will perform well due to word-of-mouth. Last year, Ratatouille opened with $3.6 million but then finished up with more than $21 million. That's a very huge achievement for a $3 million mark.

Meanwhile in UK, WALL-E is finally catching up with Kung Fu Panda. WALL-E is currently in $32m-mark and Kung Fu Panda is in $34m-mark but considering WALL-E is still running well, expect Kung Fu Panda to lost its crown to WALL-E in the next 7 days or so.

In France, another story appears. WALL-E dropped to second place with a 44% drop with a total of $12.4 million. Compared to Ratatouille last year, WALL-E should finish about 40%-50% of Ratatouille's final cume in the market, which was about $65 million. So perhaps $28 million is a minimum for sure.

Still, WALL-E still has many markets available which includes Australia, Germany, Italy, Japan and Scandinavia (Finland, Norway, Sweden) as the biggest markets. Many gases? Yes, especially Japan. Christmas season is gonna be an extremely busy season for movie industry in Japan.

Kung Fu Panda only has Greece and Italy next. While $400 million of foreign cume is impossible for the movie, perhaps $375 at the max? We'll see...[/b]
