Highridin Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 (edited) As always, I loved the entertainment. The dance show was excellent in the theater. I was weary when they decided to replace EFX 3.0, but was not disappointed. Edited January 14, 2017 by Highridin
Highridin Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 So for those who frequented SFA this year . . . what did you all think of the entertainment? I personally liked the stunt shows (saw them every time I visited) and the performers.  One thing I'm worried about for next year. The head entertainment director went to SFGAm last year to square away their entertainment. Over the last two years the two top performers, with one leaving (Ilyana) after HITP, have gone to bigger things. The dance coordinator left for CA last year too. I hope the program doesn't suffer next year.

I hope the program doesn't suffer next year.  I didn't know Ilyana had left (where's she going?). And who was the other top performer that had left?  I know that there were some stunt performers that only appeared for like a month or so?  I think Brad Irish was the entertainment director for '16, and I'm assuming he's staying for '17?
Highridin Posted January 14, 2017 Posted January 14, 2017 Don't know where Ilyana is going; heard it was something good though. Ronald Buchanon left in 15. He was the head performer for a few years before he left. Heading up something (head entertainer) overseas, maybe Korea or China. I can't remember. Â The director I'm talking about was the one from 15.
Jason Maier Posted January 18, 2017 Posted January 18, 2017 I see the hours for April and May are already up . . . . I'll definitely be there on Opening Day
Highridin Posted January 19, 2017 Posted January 19, 2017 HIP return in 2017 Â I fully agree with the person in that FB post about the Santa experience. I wonder if they are going to paint all of those buildings back? They need to if they want the theme of certain sections to fit.
Highridin Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 RUMOR that SFGAm is going to close their V2, which will be relocated to a smaller SF. I'm taking bets that IF It's true, it'll come to SFA, as SFA is the dumping ground of SFGAm. Though, that wouldn't be a bad dump.
I Like Theme Parks. Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 ^I still doubt that V2 will be removed, but if they decided to relocate it, it would be dumped here.
Highridin Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 I would say we 'finally' got a good dump, but Ragin Cajin is a hit. So that was a good dump..lol
Jcoaster Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Intamin Impluse coasters are very solid. Â That wouldn't be a bad hand-me-down at all.
Vonni Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 It would most likely answer the question as to whether Blizzard River would be sticking around lol
Highridin Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Ha ha...maybe. That thing has a line most days though.
eugjackson Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 (edited) Question for somebody who has SFA as their home park. How busy can i expect the park to be based on past years during the the 2 weeks of April when they are open 1030A-7P? Wondering if SFA is a nightmare with ridiculous crowds like some SF parks during break, ie...OG,OT, MM. Thinking of going midweek while visiting DC area the week of 4/10 or 4/17. Edited February 3, 2017 by eugjackson
coasterbill Posted February 3, 2017 Posted February 3, 2017 There will be (at most) 11 people in the park.
Highridin Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 There will be (at most) 11 people in the park. Â Lol,..out of those 11, 3 will be me and my two daughters. Seriously though, you'll be fine. Last year was the busiest year I've seen it though,...overall. Never know this year. Might be 22 people.
Jason Maier Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 The April crowds weren't too bad last year. The weather might be cooler (one Sunday I went, the temperature was about 45 degrees).
StarWars Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 Not sure how old this is (I assume it's recent, as I'm on Google Maps a lot), but on Google Maps, Six Flags America now has 3D objects on the map. It's not a flat image anymore! One thing that I noticed again, but now really stands out with the 3D, is how weird it is that they kept part of the turntable and final drop of Typhoon Sea Coaster/Skull Mountain. With the 100th anniversary of Wild One happening, I wonder if they'd remove that stuff, unless its integral to the structure of the face of the mountain, which is obviously now meant to be part of the Apocalypse theming.

I always wondered that myself, but never really thought about that the drop structure may be an integral part of the mountain. May not be cost effective to take it down, then reinforce with other infrastructure just for the sake of taking it down.

I tried this, it's really cool! Looks like a video game though, basically that's how it works. It doesn't work on KD or Great Adv.  Bing maps used to be a way to get a photographic angle view of coasters everywhere but they messed up bird's eye view. Manhattan looks like a video game but most places are flat, I tried Kemah Boardwalk and was able to get some of the old views (degraded?) by rotating the map (so try that trick), but otherwise the closest zoom shows an artists' conception of the park with a large building instead of the coaster! coasterbill Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 I can appreciate the 3D aspect of Google maps but overall I'm not a fan because when you view it from above it makes the image look like crap. I'd rather just use Lite mode. This sometimes gives you more up-to-date imagery too.

I'd definitely like the trees to be improved.

Also Lite mode has angle view which is exactly what I was talking about (controlled differently). It doesn't work everywhere (KD, GrAdv) but it works more places than the 3D and looks better. The 3D allows you to really fly around though.
