A Man gets Trapped in an Elevator for 41 Hours!

Nicholas White was coming back from a cigarette break when he got trapped in New York's McGraw-Hill building. The video shows him pacing, trying to climb the walls, lying down, and prying the doors apart.

 

"After a certain amount of time, I knew I was in pretty big trouble because it was the weekend" Nicholas White said Monday on ABC's TV's "Good Morning America"

 

White said he understood why the video has captured peoples attention: So many have wondered what they would do if that happened to them.

Man that really sucks. The longest I've been stuck in an elevator was 5 hours at the Stratosphere Tower here in Vegas. Also been stuck in a parking garage elevator at the MGM Grand for about 2 hours.

^ Maybe the elevators have those lights that only turn on when something warm enters the room.... like my school's lights.

^ Pee or take a dump down the elevator shaft, hmmm... at least it won't stink in the elevator car. I hope they cleaned it up afterwards.

That would suck if you accidently let the doors shut on your... you know.

It looked as if the doors closed really slowly every time he let go. I would have thought he would put more effort in trying to find a hatch or something in the ceiling. I would really hate to be stuck in a lift for that long, i get a bit claustrophobic so that would be HELL. What did he do for food and water? And you know they say smoking kills.

I would have totally not been able to make it 41 hours in an elevator.. no food, no water... not very comfy floors. it would just be freaky trying to sleep in there

See this is why I refuse to use lifts! I lived on the seventh floor of flats once and I still wouldn't use the elevator - I blame my sister...

WOW! That sucks. I would have died if I would have been in his place. The longest I have ever been stuck in an elevator was about 2 1/2 hours, and that was enough to drive me insane. That poor guy.

^ beacause it was the weekend, and so no one found him. In NY nothing is all that busy during the weekends, mainly just workdays.

And to add to that, he was in an office building, so no one would have come until monday, which is what happenend.

I hope he did too, simply because its bad for you. However that has nothing to do with the incident, itjust so happens to be that he was in the elevator when it stopped functioning. It could have happened to anyone really.

I was stuck at JFK airport for 24 hours because my flight was canceled and I thought that was just pure torture! But at least I could walk around the airport and go the bars and whatnot... poor guy! Trapped in a space on par with a closet must have been just awful.
