California Great America (CGA) Discussion Thread

Recommended Posts

^The rumor was actually that Cedar Fair bought 4 more, and I figure Worlds of Fun would get one. They do have a smaller model than the other ones that I believe fit the height restriction on CGA.

I would love to have a WindSeeker in Great America where Invertigo is, in all seriousness. If Cedar Fair doesn announce a WindSeeker for next year, I will know that Cedar Fair finally proves that they have interest in the park.

This might be the first step, then in 2013 we could have the wooden coaster as the second step, then maybe some larger rides in the future.

Oh I finally realized why they gave to TPR members Invertigo wheels now. Duh! They can't use the wheels at Dorney Park because the rubber part is yellow & they were planning a blue Invertigo so they needed new wheels so the rubber part would be blue. I'm still can't wait to see what CGA will get for next year. When are they announcing it? I have a feeling it won't be a Windseeker (WHEW) since 2 Windseekers have been announced already. It will be something better than that.

what planet do you live on

they gave them to us because they're so worn, not because of any color scheme. and its also a cool little gift.

also, CGA WONT ANNOUNCE ANYTHING FOR 2012, Maybe 2013, but not not 2012

Oh please... knower of all things, please then tell us what will be happening to CGA and don't forget to give us all the specifics. [/sarcasm]

You don't know anything. That is all.

P.S. Go back and read TPR's T.O.S. as you're violating they're grammar rules. I can tell by just skimming through your post, the grammar sucks.

California's Great America amusement park losing another roller coaster

January 28, 2011|By Brady MacDonald | Los Angeles Times Staff Writer

California's Great America has announced plans to remove the third coaster in less than a decade – a period in which no new coasters were added to the amusement park in Santa Clara, Calif.

Invertigo, an inverted shuttle coaster that made its debut in 1998, will be removed to make room for a new attraction planned for 2012, officials said

articles.latimes.com/2011/jan/28/news/la-trb-great-america-coaster-01201128

Could this mean that the 2012 ride is WindSeeker?

Post 250 for me!

While Great America has released no details on the 2012 project, officials confirmed the new attraction will NOT be the oft-delayed wooden roller coaster proposed in 2008

The part I read that makes me think....Windseeker? Other kind of ride?

I saw this post a long ways back however, I'm not sure how much things have changed but as we know, LA Times seems to be good at leaking out info. Only time will really tell.

So there is officialy going to be an attraction in Invertigo's spot next season. That's great. Or is this outdated? I never saw this article before.

It is outdated from the beginning of the year, though because it makes sense to talk about it now since if anything would be announced, it would be this week or next week.

Older article, was up back around February...actually, yea, found it on Screamscape.

2012 - New Attraction - In Planning - (2/1/11) According to the LA Times report on the park’s plans for 2012, while they wouldn’t say exactly what they were hoping to build, they did assure them that it would not be the GCI Wooden Coaster that was once on the table. Bummer…

At this point, it seems to make sense as we know the woodie is not going to happen next year yet is still in the works. Maybe this puzzle's starting to make sense...or this puzzle is simply not a puzzle and we're overanalyzing this. I'd go with the first choice however.

^The location looks like it would work, maybe that's why they took out Invertigo.

All the pieces seem to be coming together like in the Scooby Doo cartoons. Invertigo was probably taken out for Cedar Fair to both see if Great America can survive the 2011 season and to put WindSeeker there. The LA Times were stating that the 2012 ride isn't going to be the GCI coaster, but there will be a 2012 ride on the Invertigo site. The location seems perfect where it's wide open and easy to spot from faraway.

Many thing it's a small possiblilty, but we thought that the WindSeeker going to Carowinds was a small chance and Leviathan was thought to not be a giga coaster, and it is. Maybe this is Cedar Fair's "plot" of making CGA better.

We will see if this all comes true in a few days.

I really hope a Windseeker does come to the park. If they were seeing if the park could survive without Invertigo it did. This year attendance has even been up in the park compared to last year. I also can imagine Halloween Haunt to be even more crowded this year also which is what the park needs!
