they cant kick you out of the park just becuase you want to film a ride. it's only if you argue with thee parks regulations that it causes problems. This is why I appreciate all POV's on this site. (Thanks guys)

^^Build up a very strong relationship with PR by "helping" them through the night, doing WHATEVER they want, and be open for NEW EXPERIENCES...just like Robb did. J/K...but you do need to build a relationship, get out there and let yourself be know,.

So Robb (or anyone), I'm going to BGT in a month and figured I might as well try asking for the 'ok'. How do you suggest doing it, even if its likely I wouldn't get it. Call? How far ahead of time? What to say? What not to say?

^What do you have to offer the park?

If you read the thread, they're not going to just let you take your camera on for yourself. Do you have a website? Something to offer them? Are you only 16? I'm just trying to prepare you that parks like BGT are hard to crack.

Can I ask how strict Valleyfair's! From what I heard (from somewhere. I think the park map. lol) that their rules are pretty strict. Has anybody had trouble with Valleyfair!, or The Park at MOA (Camp Snoopy).

I read the thread, but I didn't recall some of those questions answered.

I have a website to offer yea, and I am 16. I figured that would be the hardest obstacle; plus my name isn't hardly out there.

I'm no expert on the subject; but the fact that your 16 years old isn't your biggest problem. I have a few friends who are a few years older than you who get emails by parks and get permission. Your problem is that your name isn't out there. My advice is to get a "real" website. Don't make forums or anything, just start an archive like site. Post trip reports on it and such. Then as the years go on (yes it will probably take years and years) maybe your name will become popular and your site will get a good number of hits. Just my advice.

^ The question is, how did you ask them and how did you present your website to them?

You all have to remember that I've been working in the entertainment business for the past 20 years, and in order to get a park's attention, you NEED to have something to offer and you HAVE to present yourself in a very professional manner.

For example, we send out media kits with tchotchkes & DVDs every year to make our presence to the parks known. You need to spend some significant money on "site promotion" both with your readers and the parks. One hand helps the other. When parks notice you, your members notice you, and vice versa.

And what we offer is a good online presence. Parks can see that we have over 8,000 members and are listed high on the Alexa ratings. And they can see that when you do a search for "Theme Park Videos" on google.com we're one of the first to come up.

It's not just about emailing or contacting the park, you HAVE to be able to offer a certain amount of exposure for them to let you come in and film.

Some of our videos have now been downloaded more than 500,000 times. Which for sites like "ebaum's world" isn't very much, but for a roller coaster site, that's HUGE!

And the other thing to remember is giving a PR escort actually costs the park money if you consider that you are taking up time from both the PR office and whatever the cost would be to open the ride for you early before a park opens. They aren't going to do that for anyone. Heck, we didn't start getting that treatment until about a year or so ago. You need to build up those relationships and that presence. And it doesn't happen overnight. Building that up can take a LONG time. It's taken us 10 years!

I hope this helps you all to understand the process a bit better.

Tokyo Disney was pretty much the same as all the other Disney parks where they encourage you to video and take pictures of everything!

Hi - I do like how you are looking to obtain permission, but browsing your site I noticed you have onride photos posted already. If I were a park, I would take your request as a joke. No one wants to help someone out who violates park rules to begin with.

Take down those photos and I'd bet you'll have a greater chance for success.

Sorry if that sounded harsh, it is intended to be helpful.

Forget about asking to get POV at a Six Flags park. They will say no.

I watched that Hades video and it looks like they let you guys do it. Ill have to ask when I go.

From what I can remember, Mount Olympus, Timber Falls, Liseberg, Europa Park, Busch Gardens Africa, and Silver Dollar City; and those are just a few.

I got shot Down at BGT when I was there....they even told me I could not film Gwazi from the exit ramp...very rudely too.

I don't ask permission, I just sneak them on. I got caught with it on Thunderbolt at SFNE, and all I got was a nice reminder that I shouldn't bring loose dtuff on rides. I had the camera bag inside my coat and the ride op saw my strap. Oh well! I had a great POV of Yankee Cannonball but it got deleted by mistake!

Here is my motto: Never ask for permission, just do it. You can always say that you didn't know it wasn't allowed.
