ipz8 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Hello everyone, I'll finally get to visit SFNE this weekend for the first time (and the general Boston area, Fenway Park woooo!) and I was wondering if anyone had any advice out there. A few things that popped into my heard were.... - Does SFNE have any sort of fast pass? - How long is the usual trip to SFNE to go on all the rides? Along with how busy is it this time of year? - What's the best food at the park? - Any other things I may want to be aware of? - Anything else a California boy should know about visiting a theme park in the East Coast this time a year? Thanks!
coasterbilly Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 hey dude how's it going! I'm not a regular at SFNE, but I've had my fair share of visits during all times of the year so I can try to help you (people who visit more can obviously jump in and tell him different things if I'm wrong, just going off of my experiences) -SFNE does indeed have fastpass as most if not all SF parks do -SFNE has grown alot, but from my experiences, to get everything done, I'd allow 8-10 hours probably to get a satisfying trip. -Best food? Someone else tell him this haha -I'd be aware of Superman, it's the #1 coaster in the world (my #2), and it sometimes has a large wait, or a small one, you should definitely hit it first to get on it no matter how the wait is, that should be your priority. Basically all of the other coasters don't have terrible waits. I love SFNE, it's one of the better SF parks, it may be smaller but it's fantastic and love it everytime I go, have a blast and let us know how you liked it!
coastercrazed49 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 ^I agree with what he says. -Superman can deffinetly get some long lines. Also it is not a very reliable ride, it does brake down often. -Also if you are going to ride Batman try as hard as you can a seat close to the front because the back can get a little bumpy. -Also I have eaten at the plaza right by the entrance and I have always had a good meal there. Make sure to order the fries! -Also if you do want to get the flash pass remeber to bring money because they can get expensive. -Also if you are going to Fenway try to get there early to walk around. That is one of the best things to do if your going to a Red Sox game. Have a good trip and GO SOX!
supermanrosfan0810 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I don't think Superman is unreliable, I've been there almost 20 times in the past 3 years and it's been closed for the day two days (Once because the area was flooded) and I've seen a "technical difficulties" closing two or three times tops. If you go on a good day, Superman is a walk-on- 10 minute wait. Go on a bad day, and it gets over 2 hours.
coasterbilly Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 ^exactly, I did forget that it can be unreliable. I also suggest a Lake Compounce visit too, quite close to SFNE and they have one of the top notch woodies in the country too!! How many days will you be around?

I will be there for work Thursday & Friday. Then I have Saturday-Monday to do whatever I can including trips to SFNE, Fenway, Boston (the usual touristy stuff) and whatever else I can fit in. I'll look into Lake Compounce. I plan to drive Friday night as well to Maine, Vermont and New Hampshire. I am on a quest to visit all 50 states
RIP Psyclone Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Make sure S:ROS is open or don't go.

That's neat I would love to do something like that, yeah definitely look into LC, it's such a nice little park with 3 more credits for you, 2 woodies and a boomerang, with some nice flats too!
Billy Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Hit SROS early. That ride is always a pain for me. Long lines, 1 train, huge crowds. I have yet to witness two train op. If its crowded, be prepared to stand a while and move very slow. Be glad its worth the wait. Anybody know if they have two trains running?
saxman47 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I agree with everyone about hitting up Lake Compounce if you can, even if it's only for a few hours. Boulder Dash alone is worth the trip, it really blew me away.
HerBlackWings Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 When the gates open, run, don't walk, to Superman. I waited in line for 2 hours, only to have it break down for an HOUR, THEN I got to ride. Total wait, 3+ hours.
downunder Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 I'd definitely get the gold q-bot if money is not an issue, which I think is $50 for one person, less for per head for more people. Basically this park is Superman, the other coasters are Ok but SROS is the bomb, unless you totally hate massive airtime, you'll want to ride SROS all day. If Superman is closed that day, don't bother. SFNE is probably the most pleasant SF park out of the 6 I have been too.

coastercrazed49 Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 The normal Q-Bot you take it and scan at a scan box somewhere near the ride you want to ride. It will give you a time to come back to the ride, then you can enter the flash pass line which is a lot shorter. For the Gold Q-Bot I am not to positive, but I think it gives you a list of rides and you can scroll down and pick the ride you want to go on, then it gives you a time then you don't have to wait. You will know when its time to ride because the Q-Bot should beep and vibrate.
downunder Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 The gold q-bot operates the same as the standard qbot except the time that it gives you to come back to ride is 75% less that the standard qbot. Using the gold qbot at great adventure I found that you could pretty much get on as soon as you scanned it or with only a few minutes wait. Worth it's weight in gold as far as I am concerned. The qbot system at new england is the older version where you have to scan the qbot at the ride (unless they have changed recently), Great America had the new version where you don't have to go to the ride and just book from a list on the qbot. This year you can book a qbot on the six flags site though I guess there is the risk that the day you booked is wet or Superman is down.
UFAlien Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 Hit SROS early. That ride is always a pain for me. Long lines, 1 train, huge crowds. I have yet to witness two train op. SFNE is my home park, and I have yet to witness one-train op. They've run two trains every time I've been there, and that's 4-6 times a year! I guess you're just unlucky. But yes, it's worth it. Also, save your ride on the Cyclone for late in your trip. Once it gets going it's really fun! I find the best seat to be the front row of the last car. It's not too rough as it isn't directly over the wheels, and sometimes later on in the day, you can get airtime!
Moose Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 During Fright Fest SFNE can get very very crowded, even more so when the weather is great, which is what the forecast is right now for this weekend. I went once during fright fest and will never do it again without a q-bot. Of course your mileage may vary.
Evan1127 Posted September 25, 2007 Posted September 25, 2007 SFNE is my home park, and I have yet to witness one-train op. They've run two trains every time I've been there, and that's 4-6 times a year! I guess you're just unlucky. SFNE has cut down to one train toward the end of the season in the past and since it was closed for a significant period of time, I'm willing to bet one-train operation will be typical for the remainder of this season. Just my prediction... Edit: Also, this is the last weekend for the nearby Big E, so crowds should be down (relatively).
