Shockwave Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 ^Johnson!! You'd better learn his name by Japan, or he's gonna mail you back to the states in pieces!
verticalzero Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Nice report and pic's of the 2 parks, I long to ride the "Comet", it has a unique history and I heard it produces heaven. Why did your g/f not ride "Comet"..?
Airtime&Gravity Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Great TR and photos, and hopefully I'll get a chance to go back up there. La Ronde looks like a pretty nice park, not SFGAM good but good, and it has the best location for a park in my opinion. It is amazing how far it has come in the past few years since Six Flags acquired it, and with the rumored water park it will be even better. Airtime-who really wants to go back-&Gravity
niiicolaaah Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Nice report and pic's of the 2 parks, I long to ride the "Comet", it has a unique history and I heard it produces heaven. Why did your g/f not ride "Comet"..? I live relatively close to Crystal Beach, and my parents used to take me there all the time to go swimming and go to the park when I was little. However, the park closed in 1989, and at that time I was still not tall enough to ride Comet. I did get on Giant Coaster its last year of operation though, the side friction coaster. And then the WORST part was the Comet was in storage at Fantasy Island for a few years! We all thought they would build it there! I still hear some dummy park patrons at MFI claim the Silver Comet is the Crystal Beach Comet every once and a while...
Airtime&Gravity Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 ^Hey I thought MFI was a carnival when I drove by it, so easy on the "dummy"... Oh well, looks like you two had fun, and I realize I should have gone to Great Escape rather than Darien Lake as GE looks much better than Darien Paved Lake. I can't believe you took two little kids to ride the coaster, that is so Elissa,(pre KidTums) but I guess anything to get the credit.
BarryH Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 ^Johnson!! You'd better learn his name by Japan, or he's gonna mail you back to the states in pieces! I never knew Mr. J could "go postal." He seems very mellow.
Carnage Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Oh well, looks like you two had fun, and I realize I should have gone to Great Escape rather than Darien Lake as GE looks much better than Darien Paved Lake. I personaly liked Darien Lake better. I found GE to be a stinking hole of a park that I have little intention to go back to. But my opinion of the park is based on annoying locals, and incompentent ride ops. When I was there they had to call maintence out to Comet because a ride op backed her fat ass into the e-stop button and they didn't know how to turn the ride back on. Plus they had 6 people checking restraints and it still took them 10 minutse to dispatch.
larrygator Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 ^ I can't believe you took two little kids to ride the coaster They only insinuated that the kids next to them in the queue were with them. Perfectly legitimate credit whoring technique. Not messy, not creepy.
307 Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 So Micole, when will you be getting your 200th? Hopefully I'll get there before you, it took me eight years to go from 65 to 195... it seemingly took you like one to go from 5 to 185! Come on, September 16th!!! Also, La Ronde smells like baguette and poutine... did you guys notice? And TGE was a lot of fun in the hour we spent there but I think if we had to deal with more people we wouldn't like it as much. Comet kicks ass though!!! I feared for it when they wanted to give it the Six Flags Refurb, which I'm not even sure ever happened [...did it?], but it's still pretty fun.
Coaster Palooza Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Nice TR. You always detail the park so well, even if it is good or bad. Hopefully we'll get up to the northeast at some point. This gives me a good look at the parks. Thanks!
niiicolaaah Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 ^^Hey now, it took me 1 year to go from 42 to 185. Give me SOME credit. 200 should happen this year...
mcjaco Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 ^ It's that elusive 300th credit that's the most important though.
eXzodious Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 And yeah, Canyon Blaster is obviously nothing more than a "missed credit." Rode it at Opryland. Should have been called The Lift Hill Experience. Need I say more? This odd individual (very talkative, to every one in the station) thought it was the best ride in the park... You can really tell how popular the ride is by how empty the train is. When I visited last year I left with a Canyon Blaster t-shirt, only reason being that it looks better then that awful Comet t-shirt and anything else they had in the shop. Two. One...
niiicolaaah Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 The Comet shirt this year is really great, and was on sale for $9.99 when we were there. We both got one! It's my first coaster shirt ever! Stupid Canyon Blaster. My dad has that credit from Opryland. And the Comet when it was at Crystal Beach.
dandaman Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Rarely ever do I have problems in Detroit. Maybe I'm just not the "type" they'd be looking for in Detroit. We cross about twice a week or so, and it's pretty much like Bipolar LaRonde: Some days it's empty, others it's backed up to the Tim Horton's near Holiday Inn. (FYI, that's pretty damn far.) Great TR. Always nice to have a Canabian shout-out every once in a while ('cause that's all our parks EVER deserve).
Rugged One Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 The Comet shirt this year is really great, and was on sale for $9.99 when we were there. We both got one! It's my first coaster shirt ever! So you're the one's that bought up all the Comet shirts! I should have known.
DerekRx Posted July 26, 2007 Author Posted July 26, 2007 ^Ha! Yeah right, there were slim pickings by the time we got to them. I only bought one because they had a Medium and it was on sale. Nicole only bought one because they still had youth sizes. Shame you didn't go with us, I guess those 3 XL looking guys bought the only 3 XL shirts they had left.
ElToroExtreme Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 you had to buy the El Toro Shirt didnt you!!! I bought one too!!!
coasterdude5 Posted July 27, 2007 Posted July 27, 2007 Great trip report, I like how La Ronde looks being near a city, I think it acts as a unique backdrop.
