chaos
So yesterday I went to the San Diego County Fair to get on as many rides as I could in the few hours I was there. I also hoped to eat (and see) a funnel cake for the first time, since everyone tells me they're so good or whatever. I had a good time, although I did get a little dizzy/nauseous after a while. Also, I got a new memory card that can take more than 16 pictures at a time, so enjoy this long Photo TR. Those cars flipped all the way over. I had no idea what was happening the whole time This ride was like a scrambler on even more steroids. It was really hot, but the log ride was being worked on This ride was like a scrambler on steroids. It was just as intense as Goliath's helix. I still got scared, but I wasn't as terrified as last year. I even got on it a second time. I was feeling very apprehensive On any other drop tower I'm fine, but this tiny thing gets me really nervous. I think I have Megadropophobia. This is the only ride in the world that still scares me The signs said it was called Techno Jump but we all know they really mean Bouncy Bouncy Finally! I had to wait in that long line to get a wristband. Funnel cakes look kind of weird. I decided to wait until after I got on the rides to eat one. The crowded, smelly path to the ride section Have any of you guys tried that? Pig races! I didn't stay to watch though. There goes the bungee again. So we walked over to the other entrance where there was no line -but a huge line to get inside There was a short line to get tickets I do not approve of that sign We didn't want to pay, so we took the tram for free These guys were giving people rides to the fair There goes the bungee Fair from the parking lot. The dirt overflow parking lot. toll booth
chaos
Next I went to one of the wierdest funhouses in the world. Pics will explain. Riders getting water sprayed in their faces Windsurf was a very interesting ride Evolution was kind of boring and uncomfortable. Then you go down the drop and into the spinning section The ride gives some good views of the fair Up the lifthill. Goin' down the drop The line wasn't that bad Time for the crazy mouse My shoes got all wet and full of bubbles, and so did everyone else's Too many bubbles!!! In order to escape, you actually have to walk through that. Then the funhouse got normal... for a little while More wierd tunnel things Bubbles! more weird lights Then these weird lights started flashing then it got pitch black, and the floor was still shaking (I almost fell a couple of times) The moving stairs in the beginning were pretty normal -but I still was stupid enough to go inside his funhouse of doom. This clown creeped me out,
Jew
I hope you had the fresh churro's from that one trailer. They are ridiculously amazing.
chaos
More pictures. Is that a credit I see? Look at all those people The Sky ride to kiddieland Instead I drank a Lemonade while sitting on a "Footsie Wootsie" Sadly, on my way back through the midway, I started feeling sick again, so I decided not to eat a funnel cake. I thought I would prepare myself for the Scat 2 by getting on this thing. Suprisingly, I liked it, and I think I'm ready for Scat 2. I wasn't feeling nauseous at all anymore, so I decided to be stupid. I got really wet, but I dried off quickly in the hot sun. It was a very enjoyable ride The line was short, but it took a while because they were adding another log with a crane. The log ride opened up, and we quickly got in line. I even got airtime going down that drop It was very rough, but I liked it. After the nauseous feeling passed, I got on the coaster. It had a long line, and I took the opportunity to kneel down for a while and try not to throw up. I went to the Hi-Miler next. It was smooth and everything, but I was finally starting to get nauseous. I didn't really enjoy this ride. It has floorless-standup style seating The tango is pretty fun, although it kind of hurts
chaos
Kiddieland, the Slingshot, and the Subway bathroom. I'll leave you with a picture of the inside of the bathroom that costs 25 cents to use Lets hope SFMM doesn't start doing this. Do I really have to pay to go the bathroom?!! On the way home I got hungy (since I didn't eat a funnel cake) Even though I don't understand it, I like this tram sign a lot better On our way out they were handing out Advil to everyone. (probably to compensate for the pain the rides caused) I'm in that ball For the last ride of the day, I got on the bungee/slingshot. Down we go. -even though you have to climb this cramped staircase all the way up. This slide was fun I'm not scared on this one! At least I could still get on the mini( and not scary) drop tower I can be shorter than 56 inches. See! Tis thing looked fun, but they wouldn't let me ride. Airtime! This ride was awesome. bulldogmom
Great TR and pics. You gotta love county fairs! That looked like a good one, with some cool-looking rides. I love the palm trees you got there (we don't have those here in Pittsburgh). I can't believe the tram was rated R and that you had to pay to use the bathroom in Subway! That's just wrong. If it makes you feel any better, I don't care much for funnel cakes. They're made out of batter, and are like sickeningly sweet- not the thing you want to eat if you're at all nauseous. This is the first fair I've ever seen with a sky ride!
Cameron
Great pictures .. it looked like a really fun fair. Those drop towers scare me too, I think it's because they don't stop at the top so you never have any clue as to when you're going to fall. Â Lots of cool looking flats too, and all those people! Looked like a fun day. Â Cameron.
Homer
Wow, the county fair and Subway is JUST like RCT! Â Great TR! I wish my fair was like that, the only credits there are a wacky worm, an orient express, and some knockoff Zyklon.
IwantRevenge
Cool TR man I wish I could go to a cool fair like that.
verticalzero
Nice country fair with some cool looking rides. You should of stayed for the "Pig Racing".
MrMorgan
That "children with 1 ear..." sign made me laugh out loud! As if they'll start checking how many ears the kids have and making sure they have parents with.
calcajun
Awesome! Â Why did i ever move away from SD?!?! Â So if you return to the fair, i bet Hydro Slide water won't be so clean and clear. Â Maybe a good thing you didn't try the funnel cake. The sign said "Mexican Funnel Cake". Not sure realy what that is but instead of powdered sugar they probably put guacomle on it. coasterdude5
Cool trip report, those Fabbri drop towers are pretty intense for only being 90 feet tall.
dandaman
Looks like the trams have a slight appreciation for Van Gogh. Â Great TR. I don't understand why Windsor (Ontario)'s Summerfest never gets any big rides. It's almost the only thing worth doing around here! People would pay good money for better rides! Â Anyway, great TR. I'm not even sure if I would go on that MegaDrop, either.
haiderodes
That fair seems to have great rides...something fairs around here severely lack! Â And as for that restroom, that's so old school. HAHA! I haven't seen one of those in forever. I remember them having one of those downtown at the bus station...keeps undesirables out of the restrooms! calcajun
There is way more to it than shown in the photos. There is a large home and garden section. Another featuring artist and art then another section with random vendors selling all kinds of stuff and of course livestock.
socalMAN123
Hey, that Techno Power thing almost made me throw up last year! Not an enjoyable ride, you just sit and flip for like five minutes. Anyways, great TR! I'm sad that I'm not gonna be able to make it to the OC Fair this year. ---Brent
deasondodger
There is nothing like this fair it is a true all day experience. I was in SD this year and was there opening day. It was just as good as all of the years i lived there

californiascreamer1
THANK YOU! Â my parents wouldn't take me this year. I have only been there once and i was to young to remember it. The photos look awesome, and i hope the fair was enjoyable. Â PS.I have never seen a Fast food restaurant make you pay to use the restroom, Weird.. Freefallbestrideever
The tower looks nice. That Hi-miller ride looks like the one that was at the LA county fair a few years ago. Man that thing felt like it was going to fall apart. It was the only time i feared for my safety on a rollercoaster, maybe that made the ride better
