Because people get robbed every day. It's not national news. Yes but not necessarily at gunpoint, and definitely not at WDW. Why haven't I heard of this on Fox yet?
FlyingScooter Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 hmmm, metal detectors anyone? Agreed, robberies do happen everyday. There've been a few similar type abduction/hold-ups around Cleveland. (yeah, nothing new) but the cops believe that many of the instances were drug deals gone bad.
burningstroller Posted June 13, 2007 Posted June 13, 2007 I find it strange that they weren't killed. According to the story that gun was loaded (as it had gone off). They were driven to a secluded area and beaten...why stop there? I would have thought that if the intent wasnt to kill that they would have been left at the ATM machine once they took the money out. When I moved from Los Angeles to Orlando a while back I was surprised to find the number of violent crimes (per person) were far higher in Orlando.

I know many people who have been robbed with a gun in their face. This case was a little bit more extreme with the abduction and all, but this sort of thing is still pretty common. It's not like they were swooped up by a gang of radical Islamists while waiting for Space Mountain, carried away in a helicopter, and held with the demand that the US free all the prisoners at Gitmo.
freestylenut Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Had to read the article and "see it to believe it". I thought the robbery/abduction took place INSIDE one of the parks...I was like "say what?!?!" I walk around downtown Disney quite a bit and there are some suspicious looking characters walking about that place once the sun goes down. It was midnight and in the parking lot. Right at midnight, the parking lot is a ghost town of cars. Not that there is an excuse for this type of thing to happen, but people (myself included) usually head out of there BEFORE 10pm (if they're only shopping/looking around) or AFTER 2am (which is when Pleasure Island's clubs close). I truly hope there are very few instances of things like this happening.
raptorcrew2002 Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Even freakier we where at Pleasure Island Saturday night and walked back, stumbled, rolled, anyways some how got back to Buena Vista Palace around 2:00 am’ish. Heard it on the news the next morning when we woke up for check out, kind of freaky. Glad they got away.
