bigboy61483 Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 wow. so that's what they were doing with Freefall. i got an answer out of an attendent stating that they were taking it down to get acrophobia back in business again. and as for deja vu. another valley. brings back old memories of when it first came to SFoG.
easytoremember Posted March 27, 2007 Author Posted March 27, 2007 why would taking it down affect Acrophobia.
boy_who_luvs_coasters Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Great Pics!!!!!!!! Kodak Moments! Lol jk. ANyway, i like the last pic, the first drop of Goliath, thats a really good one. You can see the whole drop. Great Jobb!!! -SHawn
Mr. Volcano Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Thanks for sharing the pics and for the update! That was neat, its good to see everything looking all spiffy. Six Flags over Georgia still remains as one of my favorite Six Flags parks, let alone parks... Too bad I never got to ride freefall... -Justin
verticalzero Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Nice shots of the coasters etc. I watched a DVD last week about GASM being built, the 1st test run and an interview with John C Allen who said it only took 53 sec's to complete a circuit. He also said it took him 6 hours to design it. GASM is one of the best looking woodies, love the paint work and to top it off the lake next to and underneath the ride. Nightime rides must be amazing. "Oakwood" should take note and produce an Out n Back (may build one for 2009 season) this lovely.
bgwfreak Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 What is wrong with August? There are some real light days there at times... Only cause it's a heat index of 105. We did have a good midweek trip down there last year and the crowds were pretty light.
cobra_roll06 Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 yeah man really good TR! The pics of Goliath were awesome. I to go to SFMM so bad!!!!
Guy T. Koepp Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Great TR. I will definitely be getting back to this park this year. Probably right at the end of their season. Hopefully crowds won't be that bad. I will still get a gold Qbot.
borisdag Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 The new paintjob on Scorcher is TERRIBLE. SFOG is my base park since I live in Atlanta and I was really disappointed in the new paint scheme that is all one color. There is no separation between the track itself and the box shaped support. Very amateurish. I'm guessing the cheap bastards did it to save money. Why pay for three colors (structure supports, track and box support) when you can do it with one. See Superman... now that is a sharp paint job and fitting of a superlative B&M.
easytoremember Posted March 27, 2007 Author Posted March 27, 2007 I wouldn't call superman a superlative B&M.
Sir Clinksalot Posted March 27, 2007 Posted March 27, 2007 Awesome pics. Thanks for sharing. I love SFOG.
KingOfNynex2003 Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 looks like you had a really good time going to that event are you planning on coming to the preservation conference in August? I can't wait for that one it's going to be awesome! if all coasters are operational i'll get 16 new coaster credits and it'll finally put me over #50 after the many years I've been extremely low.
palmerleeberry Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Hey Ya! I wanted to add my lines about your photo trip. I love those pics of those rides. I got The GASM: a true American coaster with the red, white, and blue paint job. There aren't many coasters painted like that anymore. Say what you like, but the "Most Fun" coaster in the park is the MindBender. This is me after riding that coaster: This is me after finding out the Deja Vu isn't running (again) or Did I read someone's post correctly: The Georgia Cyclone is running two trains? This is big news to me; the last few trips I've been to the park that coaster only could run one train, causing me to ride this one first so I could avoid the crowded lines later in the day. Still, the first drop gets me Call me a wacko, but I love riding the flying boat ride in Spain. Wish the ride program will make this ride go faster and longer. Still, there is hardly any lines. I'm planning to return to SFOG to ride Goliath, ride Canyon Blaster, hope to finally ride Deja Vu, and reride everything else. I want to !
easytoremember Posted March 31, 2007 Author Posted March 31, 2007 Yup Mindbender is definately one great ride. I have always loved it and will continue to forever.
SFOGdude25 Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 In that one pic of the helix, I noticed that there were two more brakes at the bottom then there were last year. I hope it doesn't make the amount of lower. Awesome pics man!
cprocks22 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Just a quick question for anyone who has been, I'm going this sunder (Easter sunday) and just wanted to know how bad the crouds are going to be. Any help?
dougstanton Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 I remember going last Easter Sunday. They were rather light. Our park had this huge drought where the crowds never exceeded 5k. It may be completely different this year, but the crowds shouldn't be terrible.
