darklingscribe Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 I don't know where you find all these ride ops willing to do something. The last couple of times I have been to various parks (even at DCA) if I've reported some people who were line jumping and breaking other rules but the ops, who looked like they were still in high School gave me a look as if saying What do you expect me to do about it. ...and in some ways I sympathize with them. Say your 17 or 18 getting minimum wage and someone comes up to you asking you to go confront a group of people twice your age when your supervisor is not around, what do do feel like doing?
mike541x Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Yeah I say if its a dangerous situation like that then you should report them. But I usually would let it slide if it was like something small like line jumping. Edit: KrakenKing that was a very smart thing to do. Dont feel bad for that.
Robgraves Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 definitely did the right thing. I can only imagine the headlines if they got hurt, let alone the damage a suit could do to MM.
kraxleRIDAH Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 What pisses me off is not the people that went underneath the fence to pose with the car. The thing that gets me angry is the park. If guests are able to slide through fencing into a restricted area where a roller coaster is moving close to the ground and it has been alerted to supervisors/management, then the park is at fault. It is obviously a safety issue that has not been addressed, but has already been brought to their attention before. I mean, how many SFMM photo trip reports have we all seen where RESTRICTED ACCESS gates have been casually left unlocked and more than often also with gates wide open?
IceDragon Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 i hate queue jumpers... the ones that ask are ok. if they ask to ride with friends (if its one or two asking) i usually let them go through, depending on the weather, my mood, my anticipation and if i want to wait for longer or not... one time, there were these kids (18 years old maybe) who wouldnt budge from the front row of Nemesis Inferno, no matter how much the ops tried, they wouldnt move... they called security and were put in a 'detention' cell for an hour or so... the ops got the biggest round of applause ever and sent 2 trains round twice... pity i wasnt on one of them...
scruffy Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 I reported a row of tourists on Kraken. The father (I assumed) had his camera out and hidden by his right hip in his hand. I saw this and told the ride op. The ride op went up to him and asked him to put it away, he put it in his pocket but didn't move his hand away from it. While the train was leaving the station he pulled the camera back out, the ride op phoned up to the main Op station. While the train was headed up the lift and got to the first security cameras (Half way up) they stopped the train and asked him to put it away, he "Did". When it got towards the top, the train stopped again and he, again, "Put it away". At the end of the ride they saw he had it out in the on-ride photo. He was dismissed from the park. I felt a little bad, but, if you don't have permission from the park, you shouldn't have your camera out. I saw the same thing happen on my last ride on The Racers at Kings Island last year. When we got back to the station a High up staff person took that camera away and took them away.
kidaftersunset Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Absolutely you did the right thing reporting them! I work at Disneyland and whenever we hear about something like that, we do the best we can to confront them. If it is a situation of line jumping that is witnessed by a CM we call security or make them go to the front of the line. In a situation where a guest was in a restricted area, absolutely the e-stop should have been pressed and the situation addressed immediately. Good Job!
coasterjunkie91350 Posted March 21, 2007 Author Posted March 21, 2007 I just had a thought is the security station at the base of tha stairs still being staffed? or did they cut that from the budget cause you could see the area of the problem from there .
californiascreamer1 Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 Dont question yourself. You absolutly did the right thing by reporting them. Like others said, they would get hurt and sue them. If i was at a park and somone said they line jumped, Before bording i would tell an attendent who they are because its not fair that they get to jump lines and we dont. But i would only bust somone with a camera if it was bieng used without permission or if it was bothering me. plus if they have a bad camera and they want it replaced they might break it on the ride and sue the park to get a new one. all they have to do is hit it in an inversion. I dont think its fair at all
kidcoaster Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 I have to at CLP but sometimes it might be fore their own good. If they are doing something that could endanger themselves or someone else than you should say some thing.
Jayjay719 Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Last summer my friends and I went to Great Advanture and these girls cut right in front of everyone on Nitro's queue. So, as they boarded the train someone said they had cut and then once they were forcded off of Nitro, they started to fight. It was funny at first, but why must people be idiots? Obviously your going to get caught. I'm just glad got the courage to tell the ride ops about this. I wish It would happen more often.
crazyrider06 Posted March 23, 2007 Posted March 23, 2007 ^ Haha I remember that, the was the funniest thing I ever saw. “biotch you wanna fight” hair pulling and punching round 1 lol too funny. But as to the topic I do think ppl should report other ppl who are breaking park rules. Its not fair for those of us who are following them
