dandaman
^^ It's the Jets, all right. Just announced at 7th pick like you said.
beatle11
Welcome to Leafs Nation Tyler Biggs and Stuart Percy! Some big trades too. Setoguchi to the Wild along with Charlie Coyle and a 1st rounder for Brent Burns and a 2nd rounder to the Sharks. Also, the Hawks have sent Brian Campbell to the Panthers for Rotsislav Olesz. There's apparently been a deal to send Ryan Smyth back to Edmonton with the Kings receiving Gilbert Brule back, but Kevin Lowe wouldn't confirm it. And before the draft, the Leafs traded for John Michael Liles from Colorado in exchange Bostons 2nd round pick in 2012 as part of the Kaberle deal. I can't imagine Burke is done yet. Top Thrill Dragster
I really hope the Kings and Oilers can get a deal done. I would love to see Smyths massive cap hit come off of LAs books so they can sign Doughty and go after Brad Richards or a top 6 winger. There are rumors going around the Pittsburgh and Toronto might reach a deal with Malkin going to the Leafs. I doubt its true, but it is coming from the same source that rumored the Richards trade. I really, really hope its not true.
FeelTheFORCE
This salary cap floor is really shaking things up. That's the only reason Campbell was traded, so Florida could make the floor. Here's a list of some others that we could see traded for that same reason: Jay Bouwmeester 6.6M Paul Martin 5.0M Dany Heatley 7.5 Kimmo Timonen 6.33 Anze Kopitar 6.3 Patrick Elias 6.0 Anton Volchenkov 4.25 Martin Havlat 5.0 Nick Backstrom 6.0 Brent Seabrooke 5.8 Scott Gomez 7.3 Keith Ballard 4.
beatle11
^You could add Mike Komisarek to that list, at 4.
ToTa8000
I've heard rumors that Ville Leino could be traded somewhere. At least Toronto, Montreal, Pittsburgh, Chicago, Carolina, Colorado, Boston, NY Rangers and LA are willing to get him.
FeelTheFORCE
WTF is Philly doing? Jagr's a Flyer, and at $3.3m for 1 year no less. I can't wait for that first game in against the Flyers.
QueerRudie
Hello Jagr. Hello Ego. Goodbye fanbase. As a -devout- Caps fan, I can recall the excitement of his arrival in 2001 to the Caps... and the disasterous heartbreak of what a loser he turned out to be for the team. It was all about HIM, and isn't HE great, and THE REST OF THE TEAM SUCKS, and ISNT JAGR great? Good luck, Philly. You're going to need it.
BeemerBoy
^ Well, depending on how big his head swells, they could just sit him in front of the net.
QueerRudie
^ Well, depending on how big his head swells, they could just sit him in front of the net. Agreed- But you have to wonder- with his head full of so much hot air, will he just float to the rafters then???
Top Thrill Dragster
I wonder how long it takes before Jagr starts "dying alive." I wish I could be at the first Pens vs Flyers game It Consol. That place is going to erupt with boos for both Talbot and Jagr..
beatle11
So what does everyone think about the ridiculous money being thrown around today? 4.5/yr for Fleichman?!?! I know the Panthers needed to get to the floor, but wow!
Top Thrill Dragster
You kinda have to over pay player to come to a losing franchise.
beatle11
^Maybe so, but Buffalo will be a good team, and Leino still got a 600% raise from last season.
imawesome1124
Man, it sucks that we traded Varly away, but hopefully that means we will get to see more of Holtby next season.
Top Thrill Dragster
Simon Gagne is a now a King. The Los Angeles Kings have reached a verbal agreement with left wing Simon Gagne on a two-year contract, the team announced Saturday on its Twitter account. Gagne, 31, spent the 2010-11 season with Tampa Bay after playing in Philadelphia for the previous 10 seasons. He collected 40 points in 67 games for the Lightning. Gagne has scored a career 276 goals and 288 assists. He was drafted by the Flyers in the first round, 22nd overall, in the 1998 draft. http://sports.espn.go.com/los-angeles/nhl/news/story?id=6733324
beatle11
...and Tim Connolly is now a member of the Toronto Maple Leafs. A bit of an over payment, but that seems to be the going theme this year, and at least it's not a huge long term deal. He had a bit off an off year last season but he's really skilled and is a good play-maker. He should be a good fit with Kessel. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=370708 CONNOLLY AGREES TO TWO-YEAR, $9.5M DEAL WITH MAPLE LEAFS Free agent centre Tim Connolly has agreed to a two-year, $9.5 million contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Connolly had 13 goals and 29 assists in 68 games with Buffalo last season. After missing just one game in his first two NHL seasons with the Islanders, Connolly has played all 82 games just once in the next eight years with Buffalo – in the 2001-02 season. He has 118 goals and 277 assists in 627 career games.
Jew
^^Good deal...if he can stay healthy. A solid #2 winger is what the Kings desperately needed.
beatle11
So where are all the Burke bashers now?! MAPLE LEAFS ACQUIRE FRANSON, LOMBARDI FROM PREDATORS The Toronto Maple Leafs have acquired defenceman Cody Franson and centre Matthew Lombardi from the Nashville Predators in exchange for defenceman Brett Lebda and forward Robert Slaney. The deal also includes a fourth-round pick – Nashville will acquire Toronto's 2013 fourth-rounder if Lombardi plays 60 or more regular-season games over the course of the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons, while Toronto will acquire Nashville's 2013 fourth-rounder if Lombardi does not play 60 games during the next two campaigns. Predators general manager David Poile says that while he is giving up a lot of talent in the deal, these moves will allow his team more flexibility going forward. “Unfortunately, Matthew Lombardi's concussion last season and recovery left us uncertain about his ability to come back for this season, and that uncertainty has made it difficult for us to move forward, plan and develop our lineup,” Poile said in a statement. “We never like to give up young homegrown talent like Cody Franson, but we have to give up something in order to put ourselves in position to do other things to improve our team, which we are committed to doing between now and training camp.” Originally selected in the third round of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft by the Predators, Franson is entering his third season in the league. Last year the 23-year-old blueliner set career highs with eight goals and 21 assists. He also contributed six points in 12 playoff games for the Predators. Franson has been a plus player both seasons in the league, finishing with at plus-10 last season and a career high plus-15 in his rookie year. Lombardi missed almost the entire 2010-11 season, his first with Predators, after suffering a concussion in the second game of the year against the Chicago Blackhawks. The 29-year-old forward tumbled awkwardly into the boards and after playing a few more shifts that game did not appear again for the remainder of the season. In 2009-10 Lombardi, then a member of the Phoenix Coyotes, had 19 goals and 53 points in 78 games. He had a career-high 20-goal season as a member of the Calgary Flames in 2006-07. He was drafted by the Flames in the third round of the 2002 Draft and made his debut with Calgary in 2003-04. Lebda appeared in 41 games for the Leafs in 2010-11, picking up four points and 14 penalty minutes. A free agent signing with the Leafs in 2010, Lebda spent his previous five seasons with the Detroit Red Wings. He was a member of the 2008 Stanley Cup-winning Red Wings team, appearing in 23 games and contributing six assists and a plus-eight rating. Lebda signed with the Red Wings as an undrafted free agent in 2004. Slaney spent the majority of the 2010-11 campaign with the ECHL's Reading Royals, notching 24 points and 34 PIMs in 61 games. The 22-year-old forward also appeared in nine contests with the AHL's Toronto Marlies, posting one assist and two penalty minutes.

beatle11
^Yeah. Heatley had an off year though, and he makes more than Havlat, so for San Jose, it was about clearing cap space.
Philrad71
Ehrhoff, Leino, resigning McCormick, Gerbe & Weber...I am loving the moves the Sabres are making this off-season! And we finally dumped overpaid Tina Connolly - hope Toronto has better luck with him than we did. He always showed short flashes of brilliance and then either get injured or would make a bunch of stupid plays. We overpaid him for way too many years, IMO and he just never got over the hump...glad he's gone as well as turn-over machine Montador.
tdub96
^Mike Weber went to my school, I used to play with him. Annnnd Jagr, played us the whole time....and Talbot too...sleeping with the enemy...tsk tsk
