BeemerBoy Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 The M.E. report for Derek Boogaard. Really too bad. Please everyone, if you are on strong prescription drugs, please be careful with the alcohol. Better yet, if you're on strong prescription drugs, just don't drink....period. Really, it boggles the mind how many people mix the stuff. Sad story, but a bit tough to find sympathy for stupidity.
beatle11 Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 What a strange game today in San Jose. The Canucks are one win away from the finals.
tdub96 Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 If the Sharks didn't take such bad, inopportune penalties, the series might be tied by now. Three goals by Vancouver on 5-3's??!! You cannot, CAN NOT, give a PP with the Sedins, Kesler, Burrows and others, that many chances to score. Its shooting yourself in the foot...
CoasterBeagle Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 I am a major sharks fan but with how the sharks are playing it looks like the vancouver could win the series. I wasn't at the game but I watched replays of the penalties and they were pretty weak. The hit on McGinn was clearly interference no effort to play the puck and the hit on Murrary should be a Game Misconduct with a suspension for leaving his feet. I'm sure there are some vancouver fans that think the reffing wasn't exactly fair because there has been times when I think the Sharks should be called for penalties when they aren't. With that many 5-3's it would have been amazing if vancouver didn't score. The sharks played well five on five but they need to stay out of the penalty box to win. I'm sure the vancouver fans felt the same way when McGinn hit errorhoff and rome, though McGinn got a Game Misconduct for it. I don't think it should have been a game because Rome knew that McGinn was in the zone chasing the puck and it's just common sense that McGinn would check him and he hit him in the shoulder not the numbers. The unfortunate thing was that he hit the metal part that connects the glass which made the hit worse than it was.
Jew Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Not going to lie...as a Kings fan who watched their season end due to their inability to convert on a 5-3, I loved watching the Sharks lose in that fashion.
beatle11 Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 This is a f***ing joke! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxLs-g9lPEc
Top Thrill Dragster Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 ^ Should at the very least be an interference penalty.
Jew Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 (edited) Left his feet and got him in the head. Definitely should have been a major based on the strict definition of "Rule 48" in the NHL. But we all know how fair the NHL is... Personally, I think he was trying to avoid contact by jumping around the contact...but it still should have been interference. Edited May 24, 2011 by Jew
imawesome1124 Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 Yeah, it's "questionable." The league should definately take a look at that hit. That should have been a charging double-minor or at least an interference minor.
Jew Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 Best headline (courtesy of withleather): Canucks win with knuckle puck.
imawesome1124 Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Way to go Boston! So Bruins and Canucks in the finals. I honestly don't see Boston winning, Vancouver has everything that a Stanley Cup team has. They have a great offense, good defense, exellent goaltending, and great special teams. The Canucks will win in 6.
Carnage Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 I'd be content with either time winning. I'd like to see Vancouver finally bring the cup back to Canada. But if Boston wins Toronto earns a 2nd round draft pick. Though it would mean we'd be the only original six team not to win a cup in recent history.
beatle11 Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 Canucks in 5. They might be some close games, but the Canucks should have this without too much issue. ^The leafs already got that 2nd round pick. The condition was if Boston makes the finals or they re-sign Kaberle. Boston has made the finals so the leafs got the pick, Boston doesn't have to win.
tdub96 Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 I said before whoever won the west will win the Cup. I'm sticking by it, Canucks are just too good. Vancouver in 5.

BaMiTsPaT Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 I agree with Canucks in 5. That team has so much more talent than Boston's in almost every department, especially offense. If they can keep Horton at bay they shouldn't have too much trouble winning the cup.
BaMiTsPaT Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Sorry to double post, but it appears that the Atlanta Thrashers are rumored to be a part of a deal in the works with a group up in Winnipeg!
Top Thrill Dragster Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 It's a done deal, Trashers are moving to Manitoba. http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/capitals/atlanta-thrashers-moving-to-winnipeg-next-season/2011/05/31/AGaB0dFH_story.html
beatle11 Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Congrats Winnipeg! You guys deserve it. Lets go Jets!
edh Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 Being a Thrashers fan (get it right) I think it completely sucks losing a franchise now for the second time. I wasn't old Enough to be around for the Flames but the whole reason I started watching hockey was the Thrashers. I watched nearly every game on tv or went to one every time I went to Atlanta. It wasn't the city that failed, it was the owners who aren't competent enough to put together a winning team and actually spend money on them. If you see pictures from Atlanta's playoff season, we had the place filled to capacity. Atlanta may not have had the huge market like some teams, but even teams like the Penguins and Chicago once had problems also and were on the verge of relocation. If the Atl spirit could give us a great product, the fans would come.
Carnage Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 It's going to be a pretty crappy season for the Thashers with them having to remain in the southeast. Going to be a lot of travel, and/or some long road trips.
