dang, maybe I should put my original copy on Ebay! It's a great book if you're at all interested in learning more about Traver's insane creations. But I agree with steel, $200 seems pretty steep, not even hard bound or anything.

$200? With 30 more dollars, I can buy a WDW Florida resident season pass for that!

Then again, if people really want something, they will pay whatever price for it.

Wow. I just read this book today! Um, worth $200? No book is! But it has some great pictures and information, but I wouldn't spen that much on it.

HARRY G. TRAVER: (1982)

"Legends of Terror"

By Richard Munch. This is the one! The famous coaster designer

of the 1920s - 40s is profiled here from his

turn-of-the-century flat rides to his coaster creations that

struck terror in many and excitement in others. Traver's work is

well documented through company catalogs, photos, clippings,

trade advertisements, and diagrams. *(Recommended. Although the

original photo quality is not the best, the book reproduction

work is good. The Crystal Beach Cyclone is well profiled here

with many pictures, a description, and a layout diagram.)

Is this book worth buying as it sells for $200 +...?

It's an excellent book, but totally not worth $200. I think the highest I'd go would be about $50.

Try your local public library (assuming they have them in England). That's how I was able to read that book.

If you want a copy for yourself, keep checking eBay. A copy just sold on March 4th for $67.99 USD, which though pricey is a long ways off from $200.

I have a copy and probably paid about $16.95 or so for it waaaaayyyy back in the late '80s just after I joined ACE. Nice little book, but I can't see how it could possibly sell for $200.

You're totally right. It's not worth $200. I'll give you $20 for your copy.

Just keep checking eBay. It's not worth $250. Unless it also comes with a hot chick that will give you the best sex of your life.

Thanks for the info:

I don't think my local public library would stock this book as it is was published in the USA.

I'll keep checking Ebay.com and ACE Website. If anyone wants to sell theirs or knows of one being sold for up to $50 inc p&p to the UK.

I just got a postcard from Borders:

"The title you special ordered (Harry G. Traver: Legends of Terror) is currently unavailable. To reorder please contact Borders in one to six weeks. Thank you."

This is exactly what I expected would happen. I figured I'd go ahead and try though.
