robbalvey
Hey everyone, I just wanted to make you all aware of something new going on at one of our favorite theme park sites. Lance over at Screamscape has started his own blog, so now you can hear all his theme park rants and raves: http://www.screamscape.com/blog/ Check it out. We did. It was cool. All he needs to do now is add a call in number where people can ask him questions and he randomly reads them pages out of the phone book and we're set!!! --Robb "Damn, maybe we should start doing that!" Scaparri
^You guys should. That'd be cool. I caught one of Lance's submissions yesterday. It's definitely a good idea. He's got a lot of interesting things to say. It'll be a cool new thing to check out.
lapseofreason
I don't usually visit Screamscape but Lance made a LOT of good points about what they need to do to "fix" SFMM... I could see how a lot of his ideas would work. I'll have to keep checking up on this blog! -Amanda "Make the damn waterpark free" V.
kenshinmac
Seriously you should blog on this stuff... You could even call it something like Robb's Rant... Sorry I've been pretty heavy on the alliteration stuff recently. Dunno why... Still it would be interesting to have that sort of thing added and it would be a good way to post quick updates and would allow more formatting than the forum posts do. On the whole Magic Mountain thing I think making the waterpark part of admission would be one of the most family friendly things that they could do. I mean it allows the family to split up and join together at different times and could potentially allow them to charge slightly higher prices for the overall tickets. Seems to me that by keeping them separate they are likely missing out on some money that could be had. The only thing I still can't really resolve is the whole Metro thing. I mean it was constantly said that they couldn't get replacement parts because the manufacturer disappeared. Are they planning on pulling a IoA and putting new track in or what? There is no way they could keep those machines in operation with custom parts without a huge order.
DATman
I'm gald he did this. I think it's a really great thing for a site like Screamscape to have, as it is one of the better coaster news sites (yes, there are false rumors, but aren't there on every coaster site?) and he does a really great job of keeping things up-to-date. It'll be nice to really hear his opinons, rather than only get one sentence of them crammed in with all of the information. I think this would also be a great idea for TPR. I think blogs can be really refreshing and they can offer a lot of really great insight into things.

robbalvey
LOL! Nah....I think I rant on here enough as it is! Besides, I figure I'll let the people who focus on "news" and stuff do that because they are good at it and we'll focus on the photos, videos, and community stuff! --Robb
crazyrider06
There are some pretty interesting things that Lance said in the blog. I do agree that Shapiro has a long road ahead of him in ways of fixing magic mountain up.
jarmor
Speaking as someone who isn't "unaware" of the internet world of theme parks I personally dont care for it. To me its just one person's take on an issue whereas a discussion board lets everyone give their prospective of a particular issue. Now will it work, hell yeah because im willing to bet a majority of his readers dont know of as many sites to get and share information on and they may feel that that is all they have. That information, I have heard on here and other sites time and time again til its's almost like a song to me lol. But I know general population will take this as a great thing, which it is, but hey im not all that excited lol. I also think that he feels that if he opens a discussion forum that will take away from his "exclusivness" to make "ground breaking" stories and be the first to bring particular rumors and stuff and I cant blame him for that. Thats just like mcdonalds letting other people come to their stores and serving their food.
Jayjay719
I like the blog, but I think Shapiro will shape up the chain as promised. At first I didn't think he had a chance, but his ideas could prove to work.
FlippyTrick09
I liked his blog about Saw: The Ride.... Even though it sounds like something only Disney would put the time and effort into.
ebl
I like the fact that you can sign up and comment on what Lance says. Last week, I posted a reply to his SFMM comments. Eric
