DerekRx Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 On top of the apparent lack of voice dialing and no physical dialpad, lets not forget about EDGE only. Oh, and the slim with no removable battery. That ain't gonna cut it in the business world. My guess is they'll end up making some super cool iCharger that'll cost another $150, but you'll be able to plug it in at your desk, a wall, the car, etc. Oh, and of course it'll be nice and shiny.

But that charger is a great deal at $150! Who wants "horrible PC" at $1,000 when you can get a Mac with less processing power for $3,000? Although their cases can be pretty darn slick, are they really worth the extra $2,000? I've been following Apple and their lies for years. I remember when they were trying to convince the world that their slow a$$ PPC chips were "faster" than Intel because of the RISC architecture. Their only evidence to support this lie was some Photoshop benchmarks. Wow, comparing an app that was written for your OS from the ground up to the, at the time, slowish Windows port sure is a fair comparison. In a sense, I really admire their hype machine. They're almost as good as Microsoft is at it.
SharkTums Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 And they've already been sued for the name! That was fast!
ginzo Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 And they've already been sued for the name! That was fast! Apple's arrogance shines through. http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/2007-01-10-cisco-sues-apple_x.htm Apple spokesman Steve Dowling calls the lawsuit "silly." He says several companies use the iPhone name for products, though he could not provide examples. Cisco's claims "are tenuous," he says. So, when Cisco wants to protect their 11-year-old trademark, they are being silly. But, when Apple sues any company that uses the word "pod" in a product, they are justly defending their IP. Cisco wasn't even asking for cash, which is within their rights. They just wanted interoperability, an open system.
Imhotep Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 ^lol if Apple loses this lawsuit, watch.. They will turn around and sue Burger King for using the term "Frypod" for their fries.
mb425 Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 Who wants "horrible PC" at $1,000 when you can get a Mac with less processing power for $3,000? Although their cases can be pretty darn slick, are they really worth the extra $2,000? Wow, you got your facts right and everything! Too bad the MacPro is cheaper than the dell XPS when comparably equipped. houseofdell.is-there.net/mac-pro-cheaper-than-dell-pcs/ On a more related note, I too think the iPhone is far too expensive. They should leave out the e-mail, web browsing, etc. and knock the price down $150.
BiCoastal Kid Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I like my phones to be phones. That being said, there are other phones that have basically everything the iPhone has, but they don't have a touch screen. I'll keep my flip phone and wait for the rumored full-front iPod, instead. No, I lied, I'm just gonna get a regular 80gig iPod. Also, just another note. 5 hours talking on the battery? I've had single calls last longer than that, I don't want to to have to plug it in in the middle.
BiCoastal Kid Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 My dad and I are both on a 600 minute plan, with free night time calls. That and our minutes roll over, so in total we have basically enough minutes to not have to worry about it.
Real Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Im with Rock on this one. If its supposed to be a phone, let it be a phone. Ill listen to my music on a music player, ala my iPod. When I want to call someone, Ill use my phone - not my music player. Im not really fond of this, plus the price is ridiclous!
Blazen_AZN Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Also, just another note. 5 hours talking on the battery? I've had single calls last longer than that, I don't want to to have to plug it in in the middle. I have a Samsung a-900, which is basically the RAZR [but better!] And the battery doesn't last near that long it seems, the little booklet that came with it said that the battery lasts "up to 3 hours". So the iPhone isn't THAt bad with the battery, either that or my phone just sucks... It sucks becing attached to a wall hile you're talking, espeically when you forget you're plugged in. As cool as this phone looks, i wouldn't get one, i need to stick with sprint, i use about 3000 sprint to sprint minutes a month and i can't really give that up, haha.
BiCoastal Kid Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 ^Yeah, see, the only times my phone really eats up battery is when there's no service and it tries to connect. However, I can talk on the phone for HOURS and HOURS and not have to worry about recharging.
