PhishyBrewer Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 I just got of the phone with some friends of mine that are at Cedar Point's Media Day event. From what I was told by my friends, Dragster didn't get up enough speed, and has rolled back into the station. Tomorrow is the day. Will Dragster run? If not, there is always Paddle Wheel Excursions! M_Force_4_ever Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 wow, thats interesting. I hope they having operating by my trip (coastermania)
Scaparri Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 TTD rolls back all the time. Unless they are having major problems getting it near or over the top, I'm sure it'll be open. I guess we can just hope and see. I'm headin' up to the park for the summer on Sunday.
CoasterFanatic Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 wow, thats interesting. I hope they having operating by my trip (coastermania) I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but even though CP usually has very good operations and reliability, CoasterMania is like the kiss of death to any ride. I think last year was the first year that everything ran, and the date was moved due to ACE Con. // ERT is like Kryptonite to CP's coasters
PhishyBrewer Posted May 6, 2005 Author Posted May 6, 2005 Can't wait for Coaster Mania! I haven't done Coaster Mania since I was in high school.
shepp Posted May 6, 2005 Posted May 6, 2005 Well, y'know, even when TTD is running, it doesn't necessarily run.
coaster1 Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 Don't see why a rollback would prevent them from opening it tomorrow. We saw 3 while waiting in line during CoasterMania last year at 6am .. nothing bit. My guess is only if the winds were high, but I'm sure they've been testing the ride for a few weeks now and should open unless it rains or the winds are high.
SharkTums Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 Wait Wait Wait... Let me put on my SHOCKED face... Oh wait no. Elissa "this is why I try to avoid parks on opening weekend!" Alvey
Coasterlicious Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 Probably just testing the ride.. just like how Kingda Ka was getting launched at low speed and doing roll backs...
Twister II Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 CP doesnt test the ride only a day before opening. Thats stupid. If you have watched the Cleveland cams they have been testing for a few weeks now. TTD usually doesnt make it over the top when the track it to cold, according to CBS.
PhishyBrewer Posted May 7, 2005 Author Posted May 7, 2005 YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's opening day. And DRAGSTER IS RUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SharkTums Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 Ok...so first Deja Vu runs opening day at SFGAm, and now Dragster at CP...it's official, the apocalypse is near! Elissa "well, this is their 3rd chance at getting it for opening day!" Alvey
Jeezus Juice Posted May 7, 2005 Posted May 7, 2005 Sweet, I'll be there all next week. Doesn't exactly look like a 4 hour line for Dragster. Ha, my brother is there right now dumping garbage! STBH!
TheStig Posted May 8, 2005 Posted May 8, 2005 What I dont understand is why they have like a million miles of que and only use like 3 feet of it and have a "line forming"...Makes no sense to me at all....Good to see its open and ready for cable spewing action!!!! When I was there back in july, I noticed that the section of the track where the cable goes into the motor house was EXREMELY oily and was spitting up a mist of oil every time it launched. Kinda wierd, but for those of you who have already been or are going, is it still black as night? Just wondering... Colin"TTD is still one of my top 5"C

It didn't get pretty nasty.

I can remeber being called in to start running rides in March! Each ride has to run at least 100 hours before opening day(CP Standard). Then when we, park op employees, weren't running rides, we cleaned just about evrything in the park. Ugh, the horrors of cleaning Thunder Canyon and White Water Landing. What a mess!
