Basically any constrictor will do. It depend son how big you want your snake to get. My mom has a ball python, it's a bit over 6 feet long, and it's basically awesome. They use wood chips for the bottom of his tank and I think just a plant light for his heat.

The main thing to remember about having a snake is they'll be cool as long as you don't smell like an animal they would eat. SO if you have a small dog, cat, or any rodents, wash your hands before you hand them because they'll smell the animal and then see your hands as being little entities, and try to eat them. Constrictors have small teeth though, so basicaly you'll just get scratches.

I work at Petsmart and here's a thing to consider.

Size - I'd suggest a corn Snake or a King snake. Don't get extremely large but get to a good size. Come in variety of colors. Ball Pythons are great too. but can get quite big.

Upkeep - Keeping a snake can be hard at times (And stinky). Your going to spend atleast $125 to start. Your local petsmart should sell corn and king snakes for around 70 buckeroo's. A tank can range from $20-100. Then Heat lamp, bedding, decor. And you have to make the decision if the snake is going to eat live feeder mice, or frozen feeder mice. IF you buy the snake from petsmart, they will be on frozen feeders.

Anywho, that was just a few tips for now, I g2g. I'll check up on the topic to help as much as I can.
