coastermaniac
I'm planning to get a pet snake, but don't know what the best kind of snake to get is (best to handle), what do you think? Also, what is the best type of heat source to get and base material for the cage?
BiCoastal Kid
Basically any constrictor will do. It depend son how big you want your snake to get. My mom has a ball python, it's a bit over 6 feet long, and it's basically awesome. They use wood chips for the bottom of his tank and I think just a plant light for his heat. The main thing to remember about having a snake is they'll be cool as long as you don't smell like an animal they would eat. SO if you have a small dog, cat, or any rodents, wash your hands before you hand them because they'll smell the animal and then see your hands as being little entities, and try to eat them. Constrictors have small teeth though, so basicaly you'll just get scratches.

okinawaboy11
I work at Petsmart and here's a thing to consider. Size - I'd suggest a corn Snake or a King snake. Don't get extremely large but get to a good size. Come in variety of colors. Ball Pythons are great too. but can get quite big. Upkeep - Keeping a snake can be hard at times (And stinky). Your going to spend atleast $125 to start. Your local petsmart should sell corn and king snakes for around 70 buckeroo's. A tank can range from $20-100. Then Heat lamp, bedding, decor. And you have to make the decision if the snake is going to eat live feeder mice, or frozen feeder mice. IF you buy the snake from petsmart, they will be on frozen feeders. Anywho, that was just a few tips for now, I g2g. I'll check up on the topic to help as much as I can.

pvcoasterguy
^ Duh! Who doesn't? Anyway, I've always found the pet snake cages to be stinky... to please be aware of that before you get one. Also, some breeds of snakes get very large, so realize that also.

ECZenith
I always thought the albino boas were cool. My cousin has one and they're pretty easy to take care of, as long as you don't mind the live feeding. Elissa would definately not approve. BeemerBoy
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16255785/?GT1=8816 I shouldn't laugh at someone's misfortune, but it's hard not to find some humor in a dangerous pet killing its' owner.
