ParkTrips Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 so yea, yet another random trip report, complete with photos. ok so I tried the chili... meh, this stuff was practically just sauce - it had no thickness. I'll chalk it up to the freezer "model" and try it again some other day Anyone need a slab? headed back home through "historic" Vila Rica Fat free for me, please only the best milk is stored in the yellow containers.. seriously Mayfield is probably the best I've ever had, and its local so it works out well for me What, you don't buy YOUR motor oil at the grocery store? Silly you. I've heard a lot about this stuff, never seen it until today. I'll give it a shot.. I've become addicted to these things since they are fat free woooo prostitute beer self-portrait of my disapproval of White Castle I always though "Poupon" was a funny word At this point, it should be clear that my eating habits never graduated past first grade OK so I'm weird, I like processed peaches more than off-the-tree ones there are never enough kids cereals in the house ... I would have to say we are a Coke town ... and Guy ... I love random greeting cards. Here are some for Joey... OK so I said I was going to Publix... here it is. I just want to remind those of you out in SoCal that 1. I don't live in LA and 2. I have 2 Publix in my area as opposed to Vons... ugh Wooo! New McDonalds in town, Mirror Lake is blowin up! Two elements of the south: 'cheap' gas, and Waffle House only cool folks have a quarter-mile-long driveway
pvcoasterguy Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 I like processed peaches more than regular peaches also. Actually I really don't even like 'real' peaches, but I love processed ones. And, yeah, Poupon is the best word ever. Nice TR.
nyanko Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 During the wussy little sissycaine we had 2 weeks ago, my boyfriend was trying to go to the publix website to make sure that they were open and he typed in www.pubix.com instead. DON'T TYPE THIS IN IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE PUBIC HAIR ARRANGED BY COLOR OK! That's my Publix story.
Meteornotes Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 I never understoon the fuss over that chili. It's more like sauce than anything else. I'll stick to my home made stuff. And Joe gets another cool point for making fun of White Castle! dt
ParkTrips Posted September 11, 2006 Author Posted September 11, 2006 ^so its always like that? lame, maybe I will pass when in Cincy next year << is an ass
BelizeIt Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Wow $2.63 for premium unleaded?, I just paid $3.17 this weekend! (Though a month ago I paid $3.47) That chili you prepared didn't look quite as appealing as the picture on the box, Dam those lying marketers! (Hopefully it tasted O.K.) I like how people are always drawn towards those "Healthy" Fat Free foods. But, Fat Free is usually equated with High Sugar Content, and what does your body do with all that yummy sugar that it doesn't use, it converts it to Fat for long term storage. (But at least it helps to keep you warm through those cold winters) I use to own a Health Food Store, and people would tell me that instead of drinking unhealthly Coca-cola, they drank Snapple. Then I would tell them that all Snapple is, is an uncarbonated Coke.
mcjaco Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 ^so its always like that? lame, maybe I will pass when in Cincy next year My wife raves about it and some other Italian place from her time in Cincy. I don't get it. Freezer stuff is never even close to the real thing.....and White Castle sucks no matter what. I've never understood the fascination with it.

Then I would tell them that all Snapple is, is an uncarbonated Coke. by comparion one of my fudge bars has 110 cal/0g fat/20g sugar compared to 270 cal/11g fat/23g sugar for a six-pack of Oreos... I'll take the carbs since one's diet is supposed to be something like 60-70% carbs anyhow. Plus, the bar is a lot more fulfilling and tasty to me than some Oreos. For the record, I bought Coke Zero - no calories whatsoever, are you going to tell my how I was misguided in buying that over regular coke? Hey, I'm trying to eat a little healthier, and even if I only cut out the coke in my diet, thats still probably 500 less calories per day the way I drink.
BelizeIt Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 ^Of couse you were misguided to buy that awful tasting Coke Zero! I usually drink a can of "regular" coke everyday. (I can't stand any of the diet versions) Like anything else, it comes down to moderation, as long as you mix some of the good with the bad, you'll be fine.
ParkTrips Posted September 11, 2006 Author Posted September 11, 2006 Sorry you don't like Coke Zero. Normally I despise any diet food, especially diet cokes, but it actually is drinkable in my mind, and somewhat close to regular Coke.
pvcoasterguy Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 ^ I like it also. Also, I really like the "new" Pepsi One. Very close to regular Pepsi. (I like both equally well).
WillMontu Posted September 11, 2006 Posted September 11, 2006 Here in FL we have a Publix on almost every street corner, more so than McDonalds, and they're all busy, more so than Albertsons, Winn Dixie, and Kash'n'Karry. There's even one just down the street that looks almost identical to the one in your photo. So Joe, was shopping a pleasure? Oh, and back on topic, I don't drink either Coke or Pepsi (though I prefer Coke products)
coasterdude5 Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 ^^^ Same here, Coke Zero is all I drink now, to me it tastes about the same, so why not go for the healthier kind. Pepsi One is about the same too.
Homer Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Sorry you don't like Coke Zero. Normally I despise any diet food, especially diet cokes, but it actually is drinkable in my mind, and somewhat close to regular Coke. QFT'd Since my school practically abolished anything that had carbs/fat in it from the soda machines, Coke Zero is the best you can take, even though it tastes a little watered down. Its still darn good to drink. [EDIT- Publix pwns all supermarket chains and should be the official supermarket of TPR since a Carabba's "Express" type dealy is going in some Publixes].
disneyfan1313 Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 I love publix! In fact I live about a 1/4 of a mile from one that I go to almost every day.. Best. Grocery. Store. Ever. mmmmMmMMM.. Rotiserie Chicken!
USRoadTripper Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Joe, completely agreed about the Mayfield milk! Mayfield chocolate milk is the best I've ever drank...mmm.... And lucky you on those gas prices. It's dropping here, but it's not that low yet. GA is always cheaper than TN for whatever reason. -Julie
Meteornotes Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Wegman's destroys all other grocery stores. The cheese department is larger than my old apartment. dt
Scaparri Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 I freakin' love grocery stores in the south. Publix is definately the best I've been to. But yeah, I'm not too sure about that Skyline, Joe. I personally like the real stuff, but if you're wanting something thick, then you probably aren't going to be impressed either way. It's a fairly sweet and thin chili. <- Thrilled that gas is down to $2.29 here in Indy.
CoasterFanatic Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Cincinnatti Chili is really more of a sauce than what most would consider Chilil. It works best as a topping for spaghetti or hot dogs.
ParkTrips Posted September 12, 2006 Author Posted September 12, 2006 Wegman's destroys all other grocery stores. The cheese department is larger than my old apartment. Been there, ate a sub, bought Canada's Wonderland tickets... I'd still say Publix is at least on the same level, if not better. Apparently South Carolina has the cheapest gas in the nation nowadays, driving through two weeks ago it was 30 cents cheaper than home, it would be nice to only pay $2.00 when I drive through this weekend. - Joe
CoasterFanatic Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 ^ Do the Publix in your area sell Cuban Sandwiches? I used to grub on those all the time.
bgwfreak Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 Cincinnatti Chili is really more of a sauce than what most would consider Chilil. It works best as a topping for spaghetti or hot dogs. Yeah you really can't eat it by itself like a normal chili. Skyline chili is great in the stores. Basically you have it poured over sphagetti (My favorite) and then put mounds of shredded cheese on top. Yummy! Most frozen versions of stuff aren't that great in general. The frozen White Castles aren't anywhere near as good as fresh ones at a restaurant.
ParkTrips Posted September 12, 2006 Author Posted September 12, 2006 ^ Do the Publix in your area sell Cuban Sandwiches? I used to grub on those all the time. Nope, I think thats exclusively a Florida thing. - Joe
TheStig Posted September 12, 2006 Posted September 12, 2006 First off, YOUR SUPPOSED TO ADD NOODLES TO SKYLINE CHILI!!!!! Geez, did you even read the box?!?! Secondly, you and your hatred for White Castle are mega lame, its only the second greatest fast food chain ever! You need some food lessons, seriously. Colin C
