Justin Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Welcome foolish mortals... I was bored today and decided to go visit the Old State Psych Hospital with some friends. We walked around and I took some cool photos of the place. Trashed.. Go figure.. When they closes it down, they let the nutcases out and roam the streets. They had no other place to put them. They did ship the severe ones downstate, but the half-nuts were just... released... Lack of funding caused it to be closed. Pretty crazy.. This is just a good gander. ENJOY!! - Justin Last money shot. Atleast they gave the select * VIP * fresh air.. Looks like one of them kicked out the bottom and jumped.. This thing would eat you alive! Those stairs don't look structually sound. Interesting names, but I guess they had to keep it simple... Revenge of the vines!!! MUHAHAHAHAHA!!! Looks like somebody had a blast!! Old workshop.. I was tempted to climb it... This place is huge. There are SO many buildings. * Grabs chainsaw. * NOBODY LEAVES! They seem to be having some roof problems.. This person must be VERY smart.. I'm glad to see Shoreline still picks up trash from here.. Is it that active? This is what is known as the " Hippie Tree." It is hugggggee! And to the far right is the Hippie Trashcan.. I guess. Here are the woods behind the hospital.
SharkTums Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Very cool! Interesting seeing creepy stuff like this! Elissa "the street names were funny!" Alvey
M_Force_4_ever Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 that was quite strange, interesting however. I would be a little concerned if anyone who was in a mental hospital and not declared "SANE" was released...this is off topic but anyone who's in MI should drink alot of Faygo!
Justin Posted April 21, 2005 Author Posted April 21, 2005 We think they all live in the woods behind the old hospital.
Morcar Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 We had a 'nut house' closed in our town. It was next to a large council housing estate. When they closed it down most of he inmates were released. The term used here is 'care in the community' but since most of the community didn't in fact care at all alot of them ended up on the streets and no matter where they were moved to, alot of them would wander back to the hospital. There were many insidents of people finding the poor people sleeping in there garden sheds etc. There were some bad incidents involving he local junior school (7-11 year olds). One kid was draged away from the school during a break by some derranged guy and was found tied up in the grounds of the hospital thankfully physically unharmed.
Kroger8 Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Awesome, I love to go see old places like that. Are you able to get inside?
BiCoastal Kid Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 If you like looking at abandoned hospitals and other buildings, you should check out Rob Dobi. He's effing awesome as an illustrator, but goes around taking pictures of a bunch of old run down abondoned hospitals, schools, and factories. Totally awesome. www.dobi.nu
Token Yankee Guy Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 Bangor has a mental Institute up on the hill. Surprisingly, I hear it's a really nice place. Craiggers "I never ventured up the hill yet since I don't know what street to take" K.
Justin Posted April 22, 2005 Author Posted April 22, 2005 Awesome, I love to go see old places like that. Are you able to get inside? Yes, but considering there are serious cases of really bad structures... Just look at the stairs in one of the pictures. Also Asbestos is there.. BAD.
socalMAN123 Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 Looks like a place out of a horror movie, like The Texas Chainsaw Massacare (freakin scary movie BTW). Nice pictures and somebody should seriously make a haunted house in there. ---Brent 8)
zaneymon Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 When they closes it down, they let the nutcases out and roam the streets. Thats happing next year (I think) to my town when they close Kimberly Zane " my cosions live across the road from there so i would move if i was them" Williams
stew560 Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 I love this stuff! They do things like this in WeirdNJ all the time. I have several bookmarks of cool sites at home, but here is one for NYC stuff: http://www.forgotten-ny.com/
FlyingScooter Posted April 22, 2005 Posted April 22, 2005 Love stuff like this. here's one for you: www.forgottenoh.com forgotten ny is good. Nice TR. In Cleveland, there are tons of abandoned buildings to roam thru, most of which are dangerous. There's few old steel plants rotting away and at least 4 hospitals. When i say dangerous, i mean: CrackHeads, gangs, and a lot of homeless people, dogs packs and some of the largest rats i've ever seen. They just released those people to the streets? Man, that is somehow, WRONG! We spend how much every year locking up pot smokers but can't cough up the money to help the mentally ill? you got busted w/pot: you are going to serve 1 year in jail which means we'll feed ya, cloth ya and give ya a place to stay. Sorry, you're just crazy. Get out! have a nice day... riiiiiiiight.
