VF15
We should see some more progress today since a lot of the slide pieces are sitting near the tower. Also looks like they'll eventually pour new concrete for the path near Mad Mouse.
dippindotsguy8
We're getting a much more comprehensive look at the park than we did with previous blog-type things VF has done. Wait, Valleyfair had a previous blog-type thing? Is there any way that I could read those? Idk if they're still up anywhere, but I want to say they had one in 2010 or 2011 that was written by two of the marketing people. They called it the "valley girls blog" or something like that. valleyfairfanatic
Just drove past the park today. The sign is still standing, and the slides are MASSIVE. The slide on the left does look a bit brown in the day light. Pictures coming later (I have to update software on my computer)
VF15
^ Thanks for the update. A bit surprised that the old sign is still there, though the new one probably won't take too much time to put up. Do the rest of you think they might be able to save the sign in some way? I hope there's some museum would take it. It would be great if they could keep it somewhere in the park like Route 76, but I unfortunately doubt that would happen.
CaptainUnknown
While we've been talking about the possibility of relocating Mad Mouse to make way for future Soak City expansion, how about moving it to the apitheater's spot and have it be part of Route 76 as a throwback to (Wild) Rails as MM is essentially a next-gen version of that ride and a better fit in R76 than Northern Lights. I've tried contacting several museums and none have even returned my emails, so it's looks like the sign will be scrap metal and glass shards. With the size of the amphitheater space, that would be cool, as long as they get some more flats in that area as well. I still think that the Mad Mouse would be perfect to replace the games behind The Wave, and use the amphitheater space for either a flume, new wood coaster, or dark ride. Snowyowl1028
Everyone has been saying it is a good idea to relocate Mad Mouse and Looping Star Ship, but I think there should be rides along the way to Renegade, Thunder Canyon, and Excalibur. Otherwise, there will just be an awkward stretch of path kind of like the path between Enterprise and Route 76.
VF15
While we've been talking about the possibility of relocating Mad Mouse to make way for future Soak City expansion, how about moving it to the apitheater's spot and have it be part of Route 76 as a throwback to (Wild) Rails as MM is essentially a next-gen version of that ride and a better fit in R76 than Northern Lights. I suppose you could put it in the amphitheater's spot, but I think Mad Mouse should probably be relocated to the old Chaos spot for the best use of space (based on the Google Earth overview it should fit in there). That would leave the amphitheater's space and Wild Thing's turnaround available for other new attractions. It would be neat if they rethemed Mad Mouse to Wild Rails. VFVSGirl16
Drove by the park today- and it's so weird seeing it empty with no rides running. You can see the slides from the road, and the progress looks nice. I snapped quite a lot of pictures as I was driving by, but I apologize for the quality from my iPhone. Anyways, here's a few pictures- only 68 days until VF opens for the season! Here's the old waterpark rides- I feel they will lose popularity this year. Here's the Wild Thing and Power Tower- I miss riding them. The old sign still stands. The park looks so lonely and empty. 68 days! Just driving by the park in the offseason makes it seem a little less long. Here's Excalibur! You can see the slide tower structure here. And what we've all been waiting to see, the slides going up! They're so vibrant- and will definitely add a lot of color to Soak City! Who here is brave enough to ride them? I'm debating if I'm brave enough to. valleyfairfanatic
I forgot to mention this yesterday, but I saw a massive bulldozer on the land near the employee dorms, and some land appeared to be disturbed, could this mean something?

I noticed that today too, but didn't think much of it. But at least I wasn't the only one who saw it.
GCI Wooden
The fact that the sign is still there makes me so happy. Can it just stay there forever, please? WOW, the slide towers look huge! It should definetly keep people out of the Renegade queue, right?
VF15
I'd assume that whatever they're doing back there is just infrastructure work because it's a bit too early for land clearing. Great pictures, VFVSGirl16! Everything looks quiet now, but the season will be here in no time. Only 69 more days to go (can't make it on Opening Day ). ariznglori
Hmm, first cones on one side of the parking lot, then bulldozer by dorms... Is it possible the park is considering relocating its backstage functions closer to the dorms to allow for more expansion? Would be a lot of work to shift all of that, so that is probably unrealistic. Cannot. Stop. Speculation.

I would lean towards no... from what I've heard, they just spent the last two years renovating the administration building and employee cafeteria, so I don't think those are moving in the near future. dippindotsguy8
Which building(s) is/are that/those? Can someone outline it/them on a map? Basically everything between highroller and Chickies & Petes, behind Mad Mouse, Wheel of Fortune, The Games area where Mr Cleaver's Bloodshed is, etc

Snowyowl1028
The slides don't look as steep as the concept drawing, that could be good or bad, but I think it is good. I think I will give these slides a chance but they look menacing.
ariznglori
Those aren't even the tall ones yet. Cannot wait to see what the 90-foot slides look like!
VF15
Which slides are you guys looking forward to more? I personally can't decide right now because both of them have their strong points. Breakers Pipeline (trapdoor slides) will be definitely be exciting due to the sudden drop. Even though they'll probably count down the drop Steel Venom style, it would be better if they dropped you at random. Meanwhile, Breakers Plunge will be the 7th tallest slide of its kind (freefall body slides), and is almost three times taller than the existing speed slides. I'm actually not sure which one will intimidate the GP more. What do you think?
ariznglori
I want to say that the freefall body slides are going to be more exciting, just because of the height. But to be honest, it's going to be close
