Saw a POV of Goliath (La Ronde) on youtube, it looks great, but has anyone ridden it and if so what is it like?

All those camelbacks look insane.

Best coaster in Canada and top 10 in the world. Airtime and speed. Very reliable although it got stuck on the turnaround and firefighters had to come and rescue the rides 2 weeks ago. Very weird for a B&M to do that.

Now I am really kicking myself I went to Montreal last year.

This one hasn't been getting the mentions the other Goliath has, but Montreal is probably a bit out of the way for most people on this site, nice city and I liked Parc Jean Drapeau where La Ronde is.

Hmm...definitely not top 10 ! It is fun and good. It's definitely something the park needed, but it's not something that can be put in a top 10. The camelbacks are great though. If you like ejector air more than floater air, you'll be upset. The ride delivers major floater air on each hills, but that's about it. The ending is pretty slow if the trim brake catches the train, but other then that, it's not that bad. It's a B&M after all, so it can't be as bad as a pinfari/vekoma/zamperla death machine !

Maybe not top 10 but certainly top 20. My friend's ridden hundreds of coasters in his life and 20 hyper coasters and he has this ride as his 5th best hyper and 10th best coaster overall.

Then again, the difference between any seat and the back is big so people have very different views about it.

That's what I hate about B & M's is they are floaty (it's still fun but I prefer ejector) rather than ejector could you imagine an Intamin with the same course, it would be ejector air heaven.

Yup, my thoughts exactly about the B&M hypers. They just don't quite push that insane level that I really enjoy with the better Intamin hypers.

Yeah, with the extraordinarily comfortable Intamin restraints, my thighs are happy that's not the case.

I've been somewhat trying all year to get out to La Ronde.

I was really hoping to go this weekend, but haven't been able to find anyone to come with me. Not sure if I want to go that far just to go to a park by myself.

Going to be a boring long weekend now.

Rode this at La Ronde back in June. Unfortunately, it was a cold, rainy day so I really don't think that we rode it under the best circumstances.

For the rides we got (a front, middle, and back), I have to say that while we thought it it was a fun ride, it really wasn't anything special either. The air in the front was rather floaty but not very strong but we did like the pull down air that the back provided. Maybe if we rode it in better weather, the forces up front would have been better.

The ride also does a few of those patented B&M speedcoaster bank moves on the turnaround and heading into the breakrun. Unfortunately, because of the ride's highth, your not that far off the ground when they are executed and it really takes away from the thrill factor.

Like I said before, we thought it was a fun ride but nowhere near our top ten. We may get back up there again in September to give it another go. Maybe I should do a delayed PTR for the park, as I really haven't seen that many reports from it.

I think the ride is running better now then when it first opened. By thr way I'd love to see a photo tr!

I haven't ridden either.

But I expect to have ridden both by the end of the season. Currently hoping for La Ronde labour day weekend, and SFoG Oct 1st.

I can't personally comment on the ride (I got sick the day that I was going to head up to Canada and I have to cancel my plans), but I have actually heard that it is the best B&M out there from a couple well traveled dudes. I have to say, that I had a feeling that the simple layout was going to really provide a hell of a ride. I hope to get up there later in the year, if not next.

Paul: Labor Day weekend - I might be trying that myself, I'll send you a PM as it gets closer if I'll be traveling to The Great White North.

Cool Larry.

I'm hoping for Labour Day as it's the last long weekend availble so that I can use that day off for traveling.

If I can manage to stay with freinds in Ottawa I'll probably be there for sure.

Stupid question - Is Canada's Labour Day weekend the same as the US Labor Day weekend? The first weekend in Spetember???? I will go use Google and find out.

EDIT: I just used Google and apparently the US stole this holiday from Canada. I did not know!

The ride actually "broke in" since it's debut and is a bit more intense now due to that, but not much !

I'd be glad to see a PTR of my beloved homepark, even though it ain't the greatest park and that it has one of the worst operations

Theres a Goliath in Canada. So have any of you folks who've ridden Laronde Goliath, been down south to georgia to ride its Goliath? If so how do they compare?

I've ridden both. I must say that we both really preferred the Goliath at SFOG. While we thought that they both suffered from a lack of height during the course (especially on the first drop) the SFOG version just has such awesome air in the backseat, especially during the series of bunny hills during the finale.

I've ridden all of the B&M speedcoasters except Silverstar and while I still put Nitro and Apollo at the top, I definitely think that the SFOG Goliath offers the most fun ride. The La Ronde Goliath, I unfortunately, have to put at the bottom of my list. Like I said before, we didn't ride it under the best conditions. Hopefully we'll get back up there soon and give it another go.

I love this ride, easily in my top ten. So far I have 30 rides on the season and each one is better than the one before it. An amazing addition to the section that was deserted this time last year. I can not rave enough about the capacity on this ride. Even on the slow days, they always have two trains running and as soon as one train leaves the station, another one enters. The longest I've ever waited is about 25-30 minutes. The crew is actually kind of friendly for La Ronde employees. Without a doubt Golaith is the best coaster in canada

I've waited an hour and 15 minutes for this ride but then again that was during the most busy day of the year (saturday july 29, last fireworks of the season and beautiful weather). Every ride was packed. Goliath's line started almost at the entrance. Unbelivable!

^ July 29 you say was packed. How many of the other coasters ran 2 trains besides Goliath? I've never seen it happen. After 5 trips so far this year and 6 last year never seen it happen.

Goliath's a great addition to the park.

All coasters except super manege had both trains running. Vampire's line was long as hell too... it started on the final railings that you go through before stepping on the real queue. It took us an hour wait only. Great operators that day.
