mcjaco Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 OK, my wife and planned a trip to WDW October 7-15, mostly because I've experienced light crowds during that time and, she is going to run in the Race to the Taste. EPCOT's Food and Wine event is going on and I guess there's some Not So Scary Halloween Night's occuring. The consensus on all the boards is that there is no consensus. Some are saying crowds are light while others are proclaiming crowds are unbareble. Which is it? Or do the boards have some looney Disney freaks tht think the park should be empty for them? Anyone know the crowd level?
methylene Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 The boards @ mouseplanet.com or disboards.com might be more beneficial as I'm sure there are billions more with the same question. Matt (Heading to WDW in Dec 2007, those boards have been a fountain of information!)
itsme102 Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Most of the time I've gone to WDW, it's usually late September-mid October. From what I've experienced crowds aren't too bad then.
Erik Johnson Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Its a good time to go. Epcot can get a bit busy during the Food and Wine Fest, but it really does not effect the queue lines for the attractions much.
SharkTums Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 It's usually a really good time to go...except you should check when 'Jersey Week' is. (A lot of schools in the NE have a week off in October. Still, you're better off going in October then probably 10 other months during the year!
ECZenith Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 DEAD! I always go to Florida in Oct. for Horror Nights, and it's a very good time to go to any of their parks including Disney. I mean, there will obviously be some lines to wait in but nowhere near the ridiculous holiday/summer seasonal crowds.
BeemerBoy Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 I'll be there that week too. You should be more worried about possible approaching hurricanes than long lines. I always found October to be a somewhat slow time for the parks. Still a bit warm, but slow.
taytig Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 I used to work at WDW and the only issues you should have are crowds at food and wine festival. Attraction queues should be relatively short (I'd say around 30 mins for the most popular) but of course, use the fast pass option where available. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the help everyone!
Ghost Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 2002, 2003 and 2005.. all October (last week) visits and never was it over crowded... Enjoy your trip... (BTW; I love trip report with pictures)
DerekRx Posted July 31, 2006 Posted July 31, 2006 Jersey week is usually the week of Columbus Day, so yeah, its the week you're going! Crowds shouldn't be too bad though, especially if they're calling for a hurricane. Just remember not to do the Magic Kingdom on a Saturday and you're good. You better take plenty of pictures at Food and Wine for the thread, and remember the times of the Sam Adam's beer school. Good free beer is awesome!
CoasterFanatic Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 The Food and Wine Fest is my absolute favorite time to visit Epcot! It is probably also the most crowded time to visit Epcot, but as someone else stated, the ride queues don't suffer much. Most people are walking around checking out the food. Tons of locals visit the park during this event. October is kind of an interesting time to visit. Much smaller crowds than the summer, but there has been a major influx of European visitors in this time frame over the last few years. With the weak dollar, expect to see mostly English tourist during your visits.
mcjaco Posted August 1, 2006 Author Posted August 1, 2006 ^^ I would never think not to do the Sam Adam's school! I see many postings for the "Beer Thread." My wife is eyeing the wine and cheese pairings as well. I've been told Jersey Week is later this year....fingers crossed. Not much we can do, the trip is booked. Hope for the best, expect the worst.
pianojohn Posted August 1, 2006 Posted August 1, 2006 As a cast member at WDW, I would have to say October and January-February are the best times to visit. I like October since it is not as hot as the summer and crowds are pretty thin. Check and see when the extra events occur (Mickey's Not So Scary and HHN) and either avoid the crowds or go to the parks on those days if you want to do the add on events. I did the WDW event last year and had a blast! Even though it was crowded, most of the people were familes with kids, so the lines were pretty short. Have fun! LOVE the extra costumes and abundance of characters for photo ops! Mickey's in 2005
mcjaco Posted August 1, 2006 Author Posted August 1, 2006 CM's, the best people to get info from! Thanks for the help (everyone)! This is my 25th visit to WDW in my 31 years of existence and I can still hardly wait. I'm a nerd (my wife says so too).
