BarryH Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 When you see Spam on TPR, don't read it, but do sing and dance to the song below!
WillMontu Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Quite a few of the mods are in the Midwest at the moment, including Wes, Erik, Robb, and Elissa, so they can't respond as quickly as usually. The spammers are getting worse with the "content" in these threads too.
Dorneypark_fan Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 Why was the car one takinoff, but not the Jessica Alba one?
Louise Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 ^ What Jessica Alba one? Will is correct, many of the most active mods are off on the Midwest trip, though there are a few of us left. Please be patient, we get rid of stuff as quickly as we can.
Disney Dood Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 We must remember; mods are allowed to have lives, too.
coasterdude5 Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 ^^ It wasn't even her... I've got a question - where do the reported posts go to? Do they go to all of the mods or just Robb and Elissa? I'm sorta hesitant because if they're going to someone that's on a trip, they probably wouldn't want to come back to that.
WillMontu Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 The reported posts probably go to all the mods so that they get deleted more quickly.
Hercules Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 ^^ It wasn't even her... I've got a question - where do the reported posts go to? Do they go to all of the mods or just Robb and Elissa? I'm sorta hesitant because if they're going to someone that's on a trip, they probably wouldn't want to come back to that. Of course they don't want to come back to it. In a perfect work there would be no spam, but reporting it is the right thing to do so the site can get cleaned up as quickly as possible.
ParkTrips Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Plus once the threads are deleted, the reported post record is gone.
coasterdude5 Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 ^ Alright then, that's what I was wondering, thanks for clearing it up.
trufflesnouter Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 I love how a communication of general information from the administrator of the website, becomes a discussion, suggestion page. Thread Purpose: Tell people not to respond to spam that appears on the board....Sounds simple enough to me.... Thread Reality......15 suggestions on how the admins should run their site. Some of which are repeated more than once by people who post before reading the thread. It is just funny to me how everybody has a better way of doing everything..this thread was meant to inform and WARN all members of the board. That was it's sole purpose. If you know a better way to do things run your own board... Are you really that backward? It's not "their site"! It's ours. It belongs to the people who love theme parks, and who spend their time contributing on here. The whole point of a forum such as this is for people to put forward ideas and comments.
mcjaco Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 ^ Wow. Just wow. It IS R&E's site. We may all make this site what it is, but we still have to play by THEIR rules. Why is this always so complicated to grasp for some?
trufflesnouter Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 ^ Wow. Just wow. It IS R&E's site. We may all make this site what it is, but we still have to play by THEIR rules. Why is this always so complicated to grasp for some? It's a good job that I've met many friendly and reasonable people from across the pond, otherwise I'd start to think that you were all either rude or deranged. You sound like a little Alvey clone! By putting this site in the public domain, they made it a site for everyone. Why is THIS so difficult for many people to grasp. You can't have ownership of people's thoughts and opinions. This site belongs to the theme park community. This site belongs to all of us.
larrygator Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 ^The site belongs to the person paying the hosting fees. Do you own the BBC because you watch it on the tube, which is also public domain? It's a good thing I've met a couple of intelligent Brits or else I would think they were all like you.
Louise Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Robb and Elissa would agree that it's the people who make the site what it is, but at the same time, there has to be some control over the place, and that comes from the people who pay for the site, run it, and started it in the first place. In other words, Robb and Elissa. So yes, as much as opinions on most things are more than welcomed, their rules stand, and we aren't debating them here, thank you very much. We now return you to your regularly scheduled Spam threads discussion. Thank you.
mcjaco Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 You sound like a little Alvey clone! I am. Robb made in a petrey dish with from llama eggs, pancake batter, Spree candy and, hot wing sauce.
Louise Posted August 3, 2007 Posted August 3, 2007 Not any longer we aren't. I don't see why this matters, and why you feel the need to debate it at all. Move on, back on topic, please.
edh Posted August 5, 2007 Posted August 5, 2007 May want to get one of them quickly. It has some nasty pictures with a lightbulb and a coke bottle....
ParkTrips Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 ^ You can report the post by hitting the "spam" button next to the quote buttons on each post. That's the better way to report obvious spam. With half the moderating team on vacation it's just taking us a little longer to keep up with it, sorry. - Joe
BrownStreak Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Wow, I've been on these forums for 26 days short of two years and this is the first time I have seen this topic so you guys must do a GREAT job at beating Spam here because I have never seen it! You guys should go get jobs with YahooGroups! I've stopped checking in with most of the groups there because 99% of their links and their "files" are Spam! PS: I wonder if Hormel Foods in mad that this junk is called spam or if they are happy because there is so much of it they get a lot of free publicity?
Guest Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Not any longer we aren't. I don't see why this matters, and why you feel the need to debate it at all. Move on, back on topic, please. Oh yes we are, Manc lass, right here, right now. You've entirely missed the point of my other posts. Telling someone to be quiet doesn't make it so.
