AHHHHH!!! I AM AN IDIOT!!!

I left my new cell phone in my pocket, and it was in the wash for about a minute before I took it out! Does anyone know what to do? It won't turn on, and it vibrates when I put the battery in!!

Please, does anyone know what to do?

A bad part is I haven't told my parents yet....

Not trying to be an idiot, but just let it dry.

I'm not sure if pointing a hair dryer at it would help, but it might.

i dropped a beeper in the john once, after about 4 days of drying, it was fine.

Should I try to turn it on at all while I wait for it to dry? Can that ruin it more?

Gosh...why why why...why this time did I NOT check the pockets after every other time I checked the pockets?! Gosh...I suck.

Yeah, you have to let it dry for a few days, it happened to my sister's phone once, and it worked again after a few days...but then she dropped it once it started working and it broke.

Don't try and turn it on!!

Just let it sit and dry (for several days) and it'll probably be ok. I've seen laptops survive after having bottles of water dumped in them...

You can try using a hair-dryer, but I advise against putting it in the oven! (Don't laugh, I know someone who did that...).

^Lol, I was looking through the book that came with the phone and it said somethnig like "Do not put phone in microwave. This can cause damage to the phone" I laughed when I read that!

Well, thanks everyone for the help! I just have to not go anywhere for a few days, or else my parents will make me bring my cell phone...

Get some distilled water (preferably double distilled even, if avail.) and do wash out the remains of any laundry detergents! The distilled water itself will dry without leaving any stains, and, by the way, is electrically non conducting, very in opposite to your "laundry soup".

I would take it apart as much as you can and rinse it with distilled water then let it dry. Set it by a fan or something but DO NOT blow dry it! It will just ruin the phone! If it doesnt work, go to you cell phone providers store and ask them to let you try a new battery in it and it should work. Those lithium batteries dont like water very much, thats what happened to me. I got pushed in a pool with my cell in my pocket and unfortunatly for me my whole phone was damaged. My mom washed hers too and all it needed was a new battery.

A few years ago, my cat dumped a huge glass of water (think refillable park drink container sized) into my laptop. I just took out the battery, opened up the CD drive, and let it sit for more than a week. Turned out to be fine.

I dropped my brand new sprint phone in the pool about 3 weeks ago. I left it out in the sun, took the battery out, and let it dry. Hair dryers help too. It now works.

TAke it apart as much as you can and blow dry.

if you must try and take it back to see if you can get a new phinwe covered under waranty, look on your battery for a stickcker, it is probably pink or blue now. TAKE IT OUT.

That sticker is how they know if the phone is water damaged or not.

My electric shaver got soaked one time. It went berserk, started going like EXTRA fast. and starting when it felt like it.

I let it dry.

And VIOLA! it worked fine.

Okay, it is now under my bed sitting with the battery out and the battery cover off. I can't let my parents see it, because I haven't told them yet...Oh, I hope it works!! I am also going to let a fan run on it overnight. Thanks for the help everyone!
