Carnage Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 I'm a bit behind some of the others, but better late then never. I've gotten my first 3 trip reports done. Instead of trying to re-write these into forum posts I'm just going to link directly to my blog entries. I'm lazy so sue me. Part 1:London Part 2.1:Legoland Windsor Part 2.2:London Eye Part 3.1:Chessington World of Adventures Part 3.2:Coney Beach Part 4:Oakwood Part 5:Alton Towers Part 6.1:Drayton Manor Part 6.2:Blackpool Arrival Part 7.1:Soutport Part 7.2:Big Dipper ERT & Southpier Part 8:Blackpool Part 9.1:Lightwater Valley Part 9.2:Flamingo Land Part 10.1:Pleasurewood Hills Part 10.2:Great Yarmouth & Joyland Part 11:Thorpe Park Part 12:Tusenfryd, Norway Part 13:Liseberg, Sweden
BeemerBoy Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Great pics Paul. It's always great to see more than just coasters. Nice site, btw.
Carnage Posted July 11, 2006 Author Posted July 11, 2006 ^^ Yeah, I know. Though it would take a little tweaking to change the image tags into BB code. I might convert them eventually, but not at midnight when I'm half awake.
bgwfreak Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 I am never going on the Tube!!! I got messed up in Atlanta and they only have 3 lines. lol
Carnage Posted July 11, 2006 Author Posted July 11, 2006 ^ to be honest it's not that hard to get around. The map is pretty easy to follow. I just got lazy and paid for it.
niiicolaaah Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Yeah, London is definitely easy to get around, especially if you know what places you want to go to and what stops they are near. Many places we went were within walking distance of each other.
Ed Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Haha I love it that you got lost on the Underground. I'm sure it must've been annoying, but that's what you get for being a tourist
Carnage Posted July 11, 2006 Author Posted July 11, 2006 I actually found it kind of fun getting lost. Adds to the adventure. The problem I ran into on the way back was being too used to the Toronto subway system. In Toronto the train on the other side of the platform is always going the other direction. So when I switched trains I just assumed the other train was going to be going westbound.
live2tell75 Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 Great photos so far! The London Eye did give some great views. Look forward to the rest of your TR. --Eric J
Carnage Posted July 29, 2006 Author Posted July 29, 2006 Been procastinating a bit as of late. I've updated the original post with links to Chessington,Coney,Oakwood, and Alton Towers.
USRoadTripper Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Awesome!! A shark with a fricken laser beam on it’s head. Sweet! Loving the TR so far. Quit being lazy and post more! -Julie
Carnage Posted July 29, 2006 Author Posted July 29, 2006 I'm trying. I find I get stuck on some of the lesser days. Assuming I can force my way through Drayton Manor I'll probably end up getting the next couple done faster. Like I was stuck on Oakwood for awhile, but once it was done I sped right through Alton because I enjoyed it so much more.
Nrthwnd Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Gotta deal with the 'meh' as well as the YAAAAAAY, y'know. I still have to deal with my four rolls of (regular old) camera film and the pix they produced - some not quite figured out, yet, lol. Great TRs so far, Paul. Looking forward to your "Drayton Manor Experience," heh heh.
Carnage Posted July 31, 2006 Author Posted July 31, 2006 Posted Drayton Manor and our arrival at Blackpool. I'll probably have Southport and Blackpool done sometime this week. Should have some motivationon these as they were pretty fun days.
Louise Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 Nice pics Paul! I liked the pictures you took of the Star after we left that first night in Blackpool, I never noticed how pretty a building it is in the dark! You DO know that it's Pleasureland, not Pleasure BEACH, right? Nice TRs.
Carnage Posted August 2, 2006 Author Posted August 2, 2006 ^ Of course I know that, I just called it Pleasurebeach because it sounded better. Yeah, that's it. Ahh, crap. Oh well, the majority of people who read my blog won't know the difference. Pleasureland, Pleasurebeach, Pleasurewood, it's too hard to remember.
Louise Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 ^ Yeah, that's what I figured. You were going for consistency. What the heck is it with the British and "Pleasure"... I can honestly say it isn't a word I use THAT often!
Carnage Posted August 27, 2006 Author Posted August 27, 2006 Got sidetracked for a few weeks. Managed to get the Big Dipper ERT & Southpier done. Now I just gotta get enough time to do the Blackpool TR.
Carnage Posted September 19, 2006 Author Posted September 19, 2006 Got sidetracked again for a few weeks. Blackpool and Lightwater Valley now posted. I'm still on pace to finish these TRs before leaving for the TPR Spain trip.
ECZenith Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Ah, I hadn't yet read this report! Very funny stuff and I'm only on the first part.
Ryan King Posted September 20, 2006 Posted September 20, 2006 Dude Pau!l First off, Pound it! Second off, your TRs have put me right back in England! You do a good job illustrating the scene and explaining it! You rock Paul! -Ryan
Carnage Posted September 25, 2006 Author Posted September 25, 2006 ^ Thanks Ryan. Flamingoland and Pleasurewood Hills are posted. Almost to the end of the TRs.
