  1. I think every new coaster is worth at least an hour wait just so you can legitimately come back in here years down the road and complain about how it's gotten: A) trimmed to death B) rough as hell C) neglected by park management D) relocated to a better park E) all of the above
  2. I'm sorry to hear of this, Chrissie. It's my personal opinion that people who bring harm to children or animals have a special place waiting for them in hell. My prayers are with you.
  3. ^ In other news, there's a 30% chance of rain here tomorrow, and a 100% chance that the author of that youtube thing has never been laid.
  4. Very nice report. +10 for this. His car was the most unbelievably bada$$ car in movie history!
  5. *Attention - crazy attempt to think outside the box ahead* You know, it would really be cool to see this place become the world's first true "mega"waterpark. I'd hate to see Dipper go, but if they sold off or scrapped every ride and steadily built it up with every type of water ride imaginable, they could really have a unique marketing angle. In other words, the unDan-friendly stuff you see in every park (i.e. Super Saturator, splashdown boats, etc. etc.). You'd never have to worry about sloppin' around in drenched clothes anymore. Hmm, I actually really like this idea. Eh, it'll never happen anyway. Oh well, back to reality.
  6. ^^^ Dude, I'm not trying to be mean here, but your arguments are suffering from tunnelvision, I'm afraid. Everything is indeed a business decision. You're simply seeing it as adversely affecting GL rather than helping bolster KD's lineup (if it does happen). If the larger parks in the chain benefit from big installations such as "MapleHawk" and a relocated Dominator, then perhaps the profits from the increased turnstiles will trickle down to places like GL. Things don't happen overnight. I'm going out on a limb here, but I actually think CF is making some pretty good decisions since they acquired the Paramount parks. Time will tell obviously, but they're certainly taking steps to *try* and improve things gradually.
  7. I guess you should of reminded them of that before they touched SOB then, huh?
  8. Pure brilliance, Chuck. As to the idea of Dominator's current location being better due to the lake it sits next to.....meh. It wasn't any different than Millennium Force or SFNE's ROS. The body of water they reside next to are only noticable on the lift hill ride up. Now, putting it in Anaconda's spot would be the stuff!
  9. I'm not so sure about that. The weather in Toronto isn't nearly as sever as you'd think. We really don't live in igloo's you know. Seriously, we don't. Our weather really isn't all that different than the parks in the norther states like CP,SFGAM,etc. Woah woah woah, wait. So you're saying you guys don't live in igloos, ride dogsleds to work, are born with hockey sitcks in-hand, and have penguins as pets? Cmon Paul, quit shattering my perfect image of Canaba!
  10. I'm loading the clip right now. Two shots oughta do it. One for missing the DBH, and one for mentioning her.
  11. I was thinking the same thing, Ted. Although, upon further thought, I think I'm gonna subscribe to Derek's train of thought about weather-related issues and fluctuating train weights, etc. Perhaps, as mentioned before, maybe it's a preemptive move to combat against future speed issues that may arise. And rather than coming back to install trims later, it's better to build 'em into the original design and use them only if needed. Who knows? Maverick, on the other hand.....well, yeah. I don't know much, but I do know this...with Led Zep and "MapleHawk" (copyright Scaparri) already under construction, '08 is shaping up nice so far for B&M.
  12. If this was 18 months in the planning, then this is actually a Paramount creation that CF acquired with the purchase of the park, correct? Sorry, I'm a little sketchy on the timeline.
  13. Only one I've purposely skipped is Roller Soaker at Hershey. Why? It's pointless.
  14. Eh, at least the teaser wasn't lying. It's something Canada has never seen (and the world for that matter) - B&M fooling with their trains. Congrats Canada, you have a one-of-a-kind. As far as the trims go....a necessity considering the speed the heavier trains will carry through the first part? Also, I highly doubt they'll hurt the overall ride at all.
  15. Mitch's 2006 steel poll results: 1. S:ROS 2. EGF 3. Nemesis 4. Goliath (Walabi) 5. Katun 6. MF 7. Nitro 8. Black Mamba 9. Pyrenees 10. Goliath (SFOG) You must be speaking to the wrong people.
  16. What? You couldn't go topshelf, gloveside from there? And you call yourself Canabian? Cool report, as always.
  17. Not quite sold on the seating, but overall, it's impressive. Most impressive.
  18. ^ To heck with that. I'll take the physical challenge!
  19. Okay, can the KI fanboys please put this argument to rest? This simple fact is that the "flying" coaster is NOT unique anymore. Period. Since the year 2000, there have been several dutchmen, 6 B&Ms worldwide, and I guess you can even toss in the "rat cages of death" scattered throughout the land. Not to mention the countless Discovery Channel-type shows which either mention, or specifically feature (Tatsu) the "flying" coaster. Quit stretching to make a valid argument here. I hate to give 'em this much credit; however, either by word of mouth or seeing it firsthand at a regional park, even most of the general public is somewhat aware of this type of coaster by now.
  20. Nice report, Scott. I see that the haunted orb is back in your pics. Were you using a different camera for your other recent reports, or was it just Lou's presence that made it return?
  21. This thread is making me care less and less about what it might actually be.
  22. ^ I was thinking the same thing.
