  1. The online discounts at the sixflags.com website are pretty good. You can also join club TPR, there some great discounts there.
  2. No problem. Unlike most Texans I do know how to ski. I also don't wear blue jeans with scotch guard on the slopes.
  3. Still have Holiday in the Park at SF0T, SFFT, and Seaworld until January. Then the Kemah Boardwalk should hold me over. Off course there's always snow skiing! It's the annual invasion of Texans into Colorado.
  4. I agree, surely the fourth largest city in the US can support a major theme park. From what I heard, Astroworld was actually profitable when they killed it. It was always crowded when ever I went there. Which makes destroying this park even more senseless. Check out this link for a good read on the history of Astroworld and the reason it was closed. www.mikerobinson.net/astroworld.htm Here's a clipping from the link above.
  5. Here's pictures from my next trip to Astroworld on 10/21/2005. Fright Fest was on, which was appropriate since the park was about to die. Entrance to the parking lot. Texas Cyclone at sunset. 6. October 30, 2011 will be exactly 6 years since Astroworld in Houston, TX closed its doors forever. As soon as I found out on 10/14/2005 that the park was closing, I went and bought a season pass. I went every day that I could until the park closed and tried document the park as much as possible. I was lucky enough to squeeze four last trips in before park closed forever. I was also on the last public ride of the Texas Cyclone and was one of the last to exit the park. I was born in Houston, TX one year before the park opened and have been going at least once every year ever since it opened. It was my middle and high school hang out. My first trip was to the park after hearing the news was on 10/14/2005. I arrived at the park after work. This is before I bought a better camera. The quality of the pics will get better as I post each of the trips. Brake run of the Texas Cyclone Inside the TExas Cyclone Station Control panel of the Cyclone Blue train in the station The outdoor AC system in the station that attempted to keep you cool in the summer The new entrance sign to the Texas Cyclone. 7. Looks like the official website is up. www.pleasure-pier.com/ There's also a facebook page. www.facebook.com/pages/Galveston-Island-Historic-Pleasure-Pier/177272299004361?sk=wall Looks like the Houston area will finally get another amusement park. However we still don't have a major one yet. Just two small ones from Laundry's. Now if only Earthquest Adventures will break ground.
  8. Just found some constructions photos on this local astroworld fan site. www.sixflagshouston.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3346
  9. I am glad I got to ride them last year while they were dueling. It was my first time at IOA and they were great.
  10. Big Bend at SFoT. I was young and too scared to ride it. Wish I did.
  11. Six flags Over Texas tomorrow for some ERT on NTaG. They're celebrating their golden ticket award. I am going to be very sleepy at work come Monday morning but it will be worth it. Might throw in the Texas State Fair and some IN n Out burgers while in Dallas.
  12. HEB Pomegranate Italian Soda
  13. Thunderhead at Dollywood. It was my first time there and I really enjoyed the park. Went the day after the Deep South Bash.
  14. I am an aerospace engineer and use to work at the Johnson Space Center as a Space Shuttle Safety Engineer for On Orbit Flight Operations. After being laid off due to budget cuts, I worked as desktop Support for Exxon Mobile which paid twice as much as my aerospace job. After that job I became what I am today, a web applications developer. I program in Coldfusion with sql server or oracle database backends. I am also a mobile DJ for about 24 years and DJ weddings and corporate events on the weekends. I have some of the most portable and high tech DJ gear in the business.
  15. You might be a coaster nerd if you make funny poses for on ride photos.
  16. Just checked in. I was wondering why the park was opened tonight since the website said it was closed. So its Georgia Tech night. View from my hotel room at the Econolodge. Just checked in, and heard Goliath taunting me.
  17. One more hour of work and then it's off to the airport. Can't wait! I will be checking in at the Econ Lodge Six Flags across the freeway from the entrance of the park.
  18. Weather looks great for this weekend. Sure beats the 100 degree heat with high humidity we been having here for months here in Houston. Not to mention all the wildfires. It will be nice to be outside and not be soaked in sweat.
  19. Can't wait for the weekend. Had a great time at the East Coast Bash, and this one seems to be even better. I am pondering of either going to Carowinds or Dollywood on Sunday but can't seem to make up my mind. Any advice? I have not been to either park.
  20. Your Vegas - Salvador After watching Rising Rebuilding Ground Zero on the science channel this song got stuck in my head. They used it as the theme song.
  21. That's horrible. Glad I visited a couple of weeks ago.
  22. Are there rooms left at the TPR hotel? Just wondering, I haven't booked a hotel yet.
  23. My DJ gig on Friday was canceled , so I can actually go to this. Just registered and got my plane tickets. Georgia here I come. Might try for Dollywood on Sunday.
  24. Nothing really scares me anymore except maybe that drop tower at the Kemah boardwalk. It's on of those that don't give you a warning before they drop. It's that anticipation of not knowing when it's gonna happen.
