  1. Just rode Skyrush yesterday. It's a great ride but the ejector air is a bit painful. I rode it three times . On my third ride, I scooted my legs a bit more forward in the seat so that the pressure points were not directly over my thighs. Surprisingly, no pain on the third ride. So it looks like if you position yourself correctly, pain can be avoided and the ride becomes a whole lot more enjoyable. However, it may be also due to the fact that I had middle left edge seats for the first two rides and my third one was on the front right middle. The front middle seemed smoother while the left outer middle seemed to vibrate a bit like x2. The ride is quite intense and not soothing and relaxing like Wild Eagle. Sort of the El Toro of winged coasters.
  2. More great pics from the Galveston Tourism Facebook page. Looks like all that is left to go vertical is the Star Flyer.
  3. I say Houston as mentioned in previous posts. Being the 4th largest city in the US and catching up to number 3 quickly we need a park badly. There is a perfect plot of land to build one. It is located on the light rail line across from the Astrodome. It even has a bridge that connects the plot of land to a large parking lot. If that is not good enough there is an empty Astrodome with great air conditioning that' begging to be converted into an amusement park. I say put in some artificial ski slopes using snowflex technology and a a couple of coasters and rake in the profits. The stadium already has built in slopes. It would be a double win. The closest major amusement park is 3 hours away and the closest ski slope is 11 hrs away in New Mexico.
  4. Looks like they got the lights on the Ferris Wheel working.
  5. Great trip report. It has been a while since I last went Schlitterbahn. Looks like I will need to go again soon. Couldn't make it out to SchlitterCon but will definitely plan on going next year.
  6. The mindbender at SFoG about 4 hours ago.
  7. I ran into same problem with the log flume on my last trip also. They don't allow single riders which is pretty strange.
  8. More from the Galveston Island Tourism Facebook page. Looks like they were open for the employees for some testing.
  9. Here's another one form the Galveston Tourism Facebook page. Looks like they are testing the log flume.
  10. Found another great pic on the Galveston Tourism facebook page.

  12. Best: SFOT Runaway Mine Train - the surprise dive out of saloon and under a lake is always fun. SF Astroworld - Excaliber - that final helix is a great one and it catches you by surprise also SFoT- Old Texas Giant when it was new, the magic carpet ride at the end SF Astroworld - Greezed Lightnin - Nothing beats a drop from the back spike from the rear seat and being slammed into the station at full speed. Knoebels - Phoenix - that air time buffet at the end is amazing. Worst: Can't think of any. Fiesta Texas- The Rattler - Not a bad ending but the worst mid course helix ever. So slow you can take a nap.
  13. ^ The Alpine Sleighs was definitely one of my favorite rides. You are correct about the mining scene in the mountain. There were several dwarfs or gnomes looking characters in the mountain right before the drop back to the station. Too bad no one has a POV of the ride. My parents may have some old super 8 film footage of the ride. During the drop into the left turn I recall having thunder and lightning effects while you plummeted into pitch darkness. As far as favorite coasters: 1. Excaliber 2. Texas Cyclone 3. Greezed Lightnin 4. Taz's Texas Tornado
  14. Just in case any of you may want to see the entire Vanilla Ice concert. Here's what I shot on my camera. The bass was so loud it overwhelmed the mic in my camera. Plenty of footage of the hot chicks and that scary clown.
  15. Here's a video of the grand opening. Nice meeting you Chad.
  16. Great video, sure brings back some memories. I remember seeing Big Bend when I went to Six Flags as a young kid. I regret that I was too afraid to ride it back then.
  17. ^^ Too bad they couldn't salvage the one from the Jaws ride at Universal Studios Orlando.
  18. Great news. Astroworld (RIP) was my home park. It's nice to see good old Greezed Lightnin' coming back to life. It's one of the few flywheel driven shuttle loops and was one of my favorite rides. Another plus is that it will in a state next door. Granted it may be a bit of a drive from Houston (about 885 miles away, Texas is just a really big state). This will definitely give me an excuse to visit Cliff's.
  19. It's a shark with a wicked laser attached to it. Here's the article www.gadgetbox.msnbc.msn.com/technology/gadgetbox/aquatic-stunt-frickin-sharks-frickin-laser-beams-753604
  20. I still remember riding the Revolution without the OTSR's. It was a great ride. I did discover during the WCB ERTsession that there is a way to ride it without head banging. All you have to do is push your head into the head rest as hard as you can by pushing against the back of the seat on front of you with your hands. This way your head stays locked in place and no headbanging occurs.
